A list of puns related to "Chamonix"
Hi,
I am wondering how doable it is to go to chamonix in spring (march/april/may) for an alpine climbing trip. What are the conditions like this time a year?
I have no skiing experience so this will make approaching a bit more difficult. Are snow shoes doable for some of the shorter approaches? My main goals of the trip would be classic snow/mixed/ice routes such as the Chere Couloir or Contamine-Meauzoud on the Triangle du Tacul. Maybe the Mallory-Porter or Frendo spur on the Aguille du midi too.
Experience wise, I have done some 10 routes in the PD/AD range in summer. I have done a lot of multipitch rock climbing and some (easier) trad climbing. I've never ice climbed, but am taking an ice climbing course soon.
Thanks in advance.
Hi all, thinking about my first trip to Chamonix in mid-May. Looking for any resources on where to look for routes and any other recommendations. I understand the temperatures have been fluctuating around this time for the last few seasons, so any insight to the season is also greatly appreciated. Interested in easy/moderate multi-pitch ice/mixed routes, mainly in the range of around wi3/m3/m4. Thank you!
Ok so i live in Paris. I really want to investigate as much time as possible in the mountain for this summer . Ideally 3 months.
I see two option.
1 : Tent in a camping place ( but this is like 100-150 β¬ per week)
2 : Tent no camping place. I dont know if this is possible to combine climbing/ alpinism with this lifestyle.
Do you see other options? I cant afford a van.
Hey! Iβm looking for friends of all ages and gender to play in the snow with. Iβm an intermediate/intermediate advanced skier down to ride with any skill level. Iβd love to connect with someone I vibe with a rent a guide to do the Mer de Glas together if conditions permit!
I am looking for snowboard, ski, tennis or gym buddies. Actually, I am up for any kind of social activity. I will live there until summer at least.
My partner and I am planning to spend 2 weeks in Feb in France with some time in London. We plan to fly in to CDG with an itinerary as follows:
Paris (4 nights)
London (4 nights)
Annecy (2 nights)
Chamonix (2 nights)
Paris (1 night before flight)
Estimated time spent travelling between cities: 16.5 hrs
During our time in London and Paris we plan on visiting these places/activities:
MusΓ©e d'Orsay
Louvre
Tate modern
Globe theatre
British Museum
Orchestre de Paris + LSO (4 concerts total)
We hope to visit museums, classical concerts, some light hikes/sightseeing and to enjoy food (in particular pastries!). We do not plan to drive there.
Some questions:
Would it be worth switching Chamonix with Lyon? It would reduce travel time by around 1.5hrs but we would miss out on the famous views in the alps which I would dearly love to see.
How would going in the winter generally affect the availability of certain attractions and travel arrangements?
Would love to hear any recommendations for things to do especially related to our interests, many thanks!
Merci!
Coming to Chamonix-Mont-Blanc from Paris by train to ski for a few days. Looking to make a 1-day or 2-day trip to a nearby town/city. Where should I go? I am thinking of Annecy for now.
