My mom sent me this video last night and I decided to try to debunk it instead of just telling her that I couldn't be bothered to watch it. The relevant part for this statement is at 29:28, but there's plenty more in the rest of the video if you're feeling particularly debunky today.
From what I can tell, there's three parts of his argument.
- If you have these strange spike proteins floating around, it makes it harder for your body to detect strange proteins from cancer cells and destroy them.
- If your cells are producing spike proteins using the mRNA from the vaccine, that prevents them from producing or reduces their ability to produce other proteins that are necessary to prevent cancer.
- Some mRNA gets used to produce DNA which gets put back in with the rest of your DNA and who knows what that could do.
My gut tells me these fall into "technically correct but the impact is so miniscule as to be insignificant" territory. Hopefully you can help me find something more substantial to tell my mom about than my gut feeling though.

Yes 2022 is INOVIO's year!!!!!!.....7 Vaccines/medicines in Phase 2.....INO 4800 Covid 19 Vaccine and VGX 3100 in Phase 3.....Plus some great updates and pipeline news.....INOVIO has over 200 patents in their coffers.....Regeneron was $14 to $18 a share in 2008.....5 years later was $450 a share.....Regeneron got their first drug approved in 2008.....INOVIO will mirror that share growth IMHO!

In 2020 we lost so many of our cancer patients to covid. In 2021 not a single one. I want to scream! Watching them last year, coming in so afraid. Knowing that if they got covid it could be a death sentence. Trying to be reassuring, but knowing deep down their fear was warranted. Then watching patients I loved, patients who I had treated and controlled their cancer for years, get covid and be gone in a few short weeks...
And then the cold hearted response from friends and family when I said I lost another patient. "Well, they had cancer right?" I wanted to spit in people's faces when they said that to me. Cancer isn't always a death sentence. We win the battle, or at least give people a few extra years with their family.
As a Christian I am ashamed. Ashamed that the mercy and grace of my Lord is being shoved to the wayside for a political stance. I thought we were supposed to be pro life? You will stand at an abortion clinic to save the babies, but the elderly, and weakest among us are dropping like flies and you shrug it off like it doesn't matter? As the vaccinated consider boosters and possibly vaccinating their children as young as 5 I think it's important to be mindful we don't know anywhere near enough about these mRNA vaccines to be certain we aren't putting healthy individuals at increased risk in order to protect the frail and infirm. There's a study linked below which I will use as a jumping off point for this discussion.
Disclaimer for the nerds - these findings are in vitro so obviously we shouldn't extrapolate too far. But what this demonstrates yet again is why the reductionist view of adverse event tracking and out of hand dismissal of long term safety concerns of mRNA and other vaccines is absolutely not "hashtag follow the science" this dismissal of the need for longitudinal safety is critical for the scientific process of establishing a medicines safety.

In summary the big concern here is that it supports hypothesis from some of the more fringe vaccine experts that the covid vaccines may be causing cancer. This study demonstrates the full length spike protein (which is used for the mRNA vaccines) can enter a cells nucleus and disrupt receptors responsible for repairing our DNA. We have DNA breaks all the time, our bodies are generally very good at repairing DNA accurately, when your body does not repair DNA correctly you're now disposed to cancer.
At this point we'll quickly address some talking points. This study is in vitro and the kidney cells used have different profiles to those localized in the deltoid. That's not wrong but it has been shown in vivo from animal studies that not only can the spike protein travel virtually anywhere in your body even across blood/brain barrier but active mRNA which instructs your cells to produce the spike protein can accumulate in trace amounts in internal organs such as heart, liver and kidney. Basically small amounts of mRNA are absolutely able to enter your blood stream after being filtered by your lymph system so this for me is starting to hint at a picture that is quite concerning.
The reason this is starting to become a real concern is related to the key talking point from the mainstream 'science' communicators is that you don't need to worry about long term safety because the vaccine is "out of your system" in 3 days or 14 days or whatever arbitrary number of days they have decided to agree on.
