A list of puns related to "Buffering Agent"
Thoughts? Solutions?
Screenshot doesn't show up in Tautulli.
The user was playing AoS episode, with it transcoding the audio for the tv, DCA -> AAC. I'm going to guess this started after the episode ended.
I don't get it. What's the meaning of "filling" a "cockpit" with "water as a buffering agent"? Is this a reference to something in military dictionary? I would appreciate an explanation.
Been running the EC stack along with green tea extract, my multi which is Orange Triad (6 pills), fish oil, magnesium, etc. My GF runs the exact same and overall, we're happy with the results. However, my GF's stomach is not made of cast iron and she often has issues with the pills.
At first I thought it must be the green tea. Drinking regular green tea often made me feel like crap, but I chalked that up to the fact I was doing 4 or 5 tea bags at once and squeezing the crap out of them to make sure I got every last drop of the good stuff. Tasted quite bitter and my stomach was not all too pleased. So we take triple strength green tea extract from The Vitamin Shopped and I figured that must be doing it. She dropped the green tea but still at times feels nauseous. Narrowing this down even further, it sometimes happens when she's just taking her evening Orange Triad dose (3 pills).
My question is what can she take with the pills to buffer her stomach or possibly assist in some way? We're doing a keto diet so things like milk or regular yogurt won't work, although I believe Greek yogurt could be an option. Also, I've read that freezing fish oil capsules slows their digestion and you don't get the burps, although when I had a brand that gave me awful burps I tried freezing them and it did nothing, so I switched brands. Anyway, would freezing these pills slow down absorption at all? I'm guessing not but it crossed my mind so I figured I'd throw it out there.
I'm looking into cheap/free buffering agents, I'm not in the position at the moment to buy plastic pellets and ceramic medium. I can't just going into the yard and grab smooth pebbles since I live in Hawaii and all the rocks here are volcanic.
I have considered, crushed glass, marbles, aquarium glass pebbles, crafting river rock, rubber bands and rice.
I suspect that rice is out of the question for anything but cleaning the stones between stages, I'm guessing it will get too soft over the course of a week. Marbles seem like they would be too big. The crushed glass I'm going to try on my next load so I don't scratch the current batch. The pre-tumbled river rock and the glass aquarium pebbles are pretty high on my list. Rubber bands are also a possibility... but I suspect they would be a one time use item.
Any other suggestions? Anecdotes? Pros and cons?
EDIT: After much Amazon searching, I looked at everything from rubber bands to Aquarium sub-straight, I found these plastic bean bag pellets. at about 4 bucks USD they are cheaper than ANYTHING else I could find. So I ordered some and I guess we'll find out!
Hi chemhelp,
I am trying to replicate an experiment that was published on a research paper. Unfortunately, the paper is not very well written/translated as the authors are from China.
In the experiment they mentioned using a carbonate buffering agent which mole ratio of NaHCO3 and NaOH was 2:1. To produce this carbonate buffering agent, do I simply add NaHCO3 to NaOH? Or do I need to add anything else.
And subsequently, they said that amount of buffering agent to add to 'Solution A' was 100 times Solution A's (molar) density. What do they mean by this?
Thanks for you help!

g'Day!
- Before clicking "POST" edit: This turned out to be a longer post than I initially thought it would be, but if you have felt the "something is off with the servers" feeling, I highly recommend you read this. It's mainly my Point of View and my take on how I perceive it, but chances are you might recognize some -or all of it.
First off, some introduction to why I'm creating this post with a slight touch 'o knowledge and experience. I mainly play Competetive (deathmatch/range to warm up, Spike Rush sometimes Unrated once every blue moon) Overall rank is in the Diamond spot, varying from Immortal to Dia2-3.
As thousands of others, I too, granted access quite early in the Closed Beta drops on Twitch. From somwhere in the mid-range of "Project A", I followed closely as I've played CS since 1.3 and always loved the 5v5 tactical shooter scene. Valorant, as it turned out to be, was highly anticipated and I immediately fell in love with the game from day 1. The concept, the vision from the devs (although pleasing a growing community of computer-gamers is straight up impossible) to the pure performance of a game in it's very early stages. Point being; I've spent a great amount of time playing Valorant. Throughout it's short life this far, I've played on a total of 3 different computer systems which yields some "feel" of how it is to play on low, mid and high end computers which, again, leads into the nature of this post:
- Something, is, off. Seriously off. We're not talking about the everyday "having a bad day" off, we're talking fundamentaly wrong. And it seems to be affecting alot of people. Not everyone, but more than "just the few unlucky ones"
In the very first release of Closed Beta, the game had it's hitches. But performance? Holy moly, it was 1:1 true raw gunfight galore. Then patch v0.50 hit, and so did my FPS. And yours too. And the next person. Everyone shat frames after v0.50. Fair enough, the devs narrowed it down to be some sort of assets/decals of bulletholes were printed on the wall loaded in and some agent's (*cough*sage*cough*Viper) abilities were deployed. Nevertheless, it was patched pretty quickly and we all lived happily ever after.
Further patches had some network tweaks to them. And I remember this, because it introduced a very weird yet neat rubberband to occur whenever I would hug a corner and jiggle-peek quickly to obtain fast information about enemies' whereabouts. If nobody was there, I

... keep reading on reddit β‘I am trying to train an agent in a sparse rewards scenario, and I have tons of human replays with all the required information (i.e. what actions is the human taking, what is the state, etc).
I've plugged it into an implementation of SAC, where the agent learns from two replay buffers, one with his own history and another with the human history. However, the agent does not learn. It's quite strange, because although the rewards are sparse, they are not soooo sparse (let's say in every batch of 32 there are 1-5 rewards with the human experience). I believe the Q functions should be able to infer that certain actions provide some rewards, and hence direct the agent to that actions. However, this is not happening.
After a lot of debugging I cannot find further errors, and I wonder if this is because I am mixing both experiences, one from the agent itself, and the other from humans, which the agent is not yet able to reproduce. Do you believe, from a mathematical/modeling pov, is it correct to mix both experiences in SAC or in DQN?
I cannot think about any reason why this may be a mistake... but I may be wrong.
Hello, folks! A little help of someone into chemistry is required.
Short question: Can polypropylene or polystyrene make a reaction with phosphate-buffered saline, polymers (unknown), or antimicrobial agents (unknown)? Can it somehow contaminate/modify/alter liquid made of these?
Clarification: Have OraQuick HCV test, don't have their loop for blood collection, have sterile loop from store, made of polystyrene and the other one made of polypropylene. Bad at chemistry and don't know, if it could somehow affect the result. The device description says: The Developer Solution Vial contains 1 mL of a phosphate buffered saline solution containing polymers and an anti-microbial agent. The developer solution facilitates the capillary flow of specimen into the device and onto the array strip. That's where I would like to place sterile loop with blood.
In my personal opinion, this should work.
Thx.
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Do your worst!
Sitting on the plane yesterday, I was reading over some of the work a friend of mine produced on naked short selling, and it occurred to me that this info belongs in a venue where the public can access it. So I broke my commitment to take a few days off, away from computers, to post this - and then I will really stay offline...
By way of introduction, let me say that there are authorities, and then there are authorities. The gentleman in question is a true expert on the topic, partly because heβs been studying the issue for about 25 years β his comments to the SEC on Reg SHO have taken on near mythical status, as they so clearly warned of the abuse that would come should the SEC not implement the safeguards heβd advocated. His name is likely familiar to many who have closely followed this topic β Dr. Jim DeCosta.
The challenge in presenting the true state of the union is to provide data, supported by research, in bite-sized morsels that people can digest. I feel that his work is among the most comprehensive Iβve seen on the subject, so I leaned on him to allow me to publish a small sampling of his material. His premise has always been that the solution to the entire NSS mess lies in educating the investing public, the regulators, the Judiciary, and anybody else with a vested interest in the clearance and settlement system.
Heβs written 2-1/2 unpublished books on naked short selling, which contain more data than any other work on the subject Iβve seen. In Chapter 42 he delineates some of what he calls βNot so bullet pointsβ. He lists 40 of them, but Iβm only going to publish the first dozen for now, as there is a lot of information to assimilate.
So without further ado, the first of Dr. Jimβs bullet points:
βI want to end this Chapter 42 with 40 βNot so bullet pointsβ in regards to DTCC behavior in general. Many of these were revealed in the above analysis of the DTCCβs βSelf-interviewβ and others were covered in previous chapters. My goal here is to get all readers on the same wavelength and build a foundation from which we can tackle the concepts in the last 28 chapters of this book and then move onto Book #3.
40 NOT SO BULLET POINTS IN RE: NAKED SHORT SELLING
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
It really does, I swear!
Hi all,
Similar to last year I wanted to make this post for three reasons,
I made a Net Worth post last year in February, and I wanted to provide a bit of an update / share my learnings over 2021.Interestingly a month after making the post, my goals shifting completely - to try and purchase my first home. I paused all parcels into VDHG and directed the majority of paycheck cashflows into deposit savings. I even funneled all holidays, emergency, and other savings into deposit. This left me quite exposed (eek) at the end of 2021 which we will get into.
Current Situation
Me: 27, Male, No dependents. Have a partner but I only track my own net worth
Occupation: Geotechnical Engineer, FIFO and WFH.
Pre-tax Income: $168,900. Includes monthly bonus + super
Savings Rate: 2021 I achieved a rate of 52% when my goal was 60%. I was a naughty boy and spent, spent, spent. I thought I was strong enough to not let lifestyle creep get me. Boy I was wrong. But I did experience so much in a new city and have no regrets. My goal for 2022 will be 60% again, which is absolutely achievable.
Bought an Apartment
After looking for 8 months, in November 2021 I was able to buy an apartment in Brissy. I set out with a goal to purchase a house on the northside, but ended up with an apartment on the southside. It's funny how flexible I had to become in such a ruthless rising market that was and still is.I used a buyers agent, utilised FHSSS, and am now qualified to judge the Block season 17.
Upon reflection, these are my thoughts:
I got in. Great area, super happy, good price.
However, because I made a rushed decision to entirely focus on a house deposit. I really left no money for anything else in my life. I skated a fine line between paychecks, and it was quite stressful at times as I made a pact to not touch the deposit money once it was in the bank.
After the purchase, I still had cash but did not plan well for all the expenses that followed. E.g. white goods, furniture, moving costs etc. This lead me to spend 3k over my budgeted 3k per card (had 2 credit cards)

This post contains detailed instructions to do exactly what the title says: turn your super money into GME shares and then DRS them. It's easy to do but there are a lot of steps and forms to complete. Disclaimers:
You are going to be establishing something called a Self-Managed Super Fund (SMSF) and turning as much of your superannuation money as you decide into GME shares that are direct registered (DRS) with Computershare. As the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) says on their web site: "The difference between an SMSF and other types of [super]funds is that the members of an SMSF are usually also the trustees. This means the members of the SMSF run it for their benefit and are responsible for complying with the super and tax laws."
It sounds hard but you are going to pay someone to do it for you.

I started seeing a weird behavior of Signal app running on my iPhone 13 Pro when running it behind Italian mobile provider Ho Mobile (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ho.), the low-cost MVNO of Vodafone Italy.
Just as a clarification, I also tried the following combinations:
- Running my iPhone using another network (WiFi from other operators)
- Running Signal for Desktop using the hotspot from Ho Mobile connection
This led me to the direction that something wrong is happening with Ho Mobile ISP, as this happens only when running Signal under this connection, and nowhere else. Somebody else on Twitter is reporting the same issue at least since 14 December 2021 and 7 January 2022.

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
When I got home, they were still there.
Good day to one of my fave subs.
I get much better (faster, higher and more consistent) rewards when training my agent on vectorised environments in comparison to single env. I looked online and found that this helps due to:
1- parallel use of cores --> faster
2- samples are more i.i.d. --> more stable learning
The first point is clear, but I was wondering how 2- sampling on multiple (deterministic) environments increases i.i.d. of the samples? I am maintaining my policy updates at a constant 'nsteps' value for single env and vecenv.
At first I thought it's because the agent gets more diverse environment trajectories for each training batch, but they all sample from the same action distribution so I don't get it.
The hypothesis I now have is that different seedings for the parallel environments directly impacts the sampling of the action probability distribution of the e.g. PPO agent, so that differently seeded envs will get different action samples even for the same observation. Is this true? or is there another more relevant reason for this?
Thank you very much!
I won't be doing that today!
