A list of puns related to "Apricot Tree"
I will never forget the utter humiliation and shame that the accursed Primary song, 'Popcorn Popping on an Apricot Tree', brought to me in kindergarten when I was 5. It was honestly the first thing to crack my shelf. And you might say, "But why? It's just a silly kid's song!" Let me explain this shit...
To set the scene, I grew up in a rural farm town in NC. On the FIRST DAY in kindergarten, the teacher asked us where popcorn came from. I proudly raised my hand, stood up, and said confidently, "Apricot trees!"...............The whole class (I was the only Mormon in the school at that time) burst into laughter... The teacher most definitely thought I was an idiot or the new class clown...I was embarrassed and didn't know why they were laughing at me. The shame was intense, I had never been humiliated before. And at that moment, I felt betrayed and lied to. The ONLY thing the Mormons had taught me had been wrong...
I looked out the window and what did I see? The seeds of doubt popping on my apricot tree...
FUCK THAT SONG
I live in zone 9b, California, and I have a huge apricot tree. I noticed sticky substance coming down but thought it might be from cankers I couldn't see from the ground. Well, I spotted those damn aphids today. My tree is very large, maybe 25' tall so this is not a simple job.
Is there a product I can spray into the tree and not destroy the developing fruit and kill those damn aphids?
It's been doing this for at least the last couple years, but I really didn't think anything of it. The problem is the different sections leave out and bloom at different times. It barely gets any flowers, and it has only gotten one apricot a few years back. Never even seen it, only knew because I smelled it when I ran it over with the mower.
The other issue/s which may be related are the sap oozing and forming hard amber. I thought it was nothing, because woodpeckers are on the tree a lot. But I decided to look into it. Some places say it is from a peach tree borer and other say it is a fungal canker. I dug around the base and didn't see any worms, and there is no canker at the base. https://i.imgur.com/ncgiI0y.jpg, https://i.imgur.com/f9Pdjgw.jpg, https://i.imgur.com/9uUNmUy.jpg, https://i.imgur.com/hCfbZ7T.jpg, https://i.imgur.com/fvRjEue.jpg, https://i.imgur.com/n71Vx4Z.jpg
Any idea what the issues are here and what I can do about it? The tree is at least 15yrs old.
