A list of puns related to "Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury"
Hello everyone,
I want to get into a discussion about ligament injuries and how you've dealt with them. Did you get surgery or have you decided against it? How did it go?
Apparently, I partially tore my anterior cruciate ligament resulting in an instability of my left knee. I got a lot of pain in the knee on longer rides in the mountains on 3 occasions in the last 3 months. Apart from that I am mostly free of pain even while running. The orthopedist recommended getting an MRI and it revealed a partially torn ACL. He immediately recommended surgery and went on how the instability already caused muscle imbalances all the way up to my hip area and how it will only get worse with age (I am 26). I think the orthopedist is a bit full of **** because IMO he should have considered that I only have been suffering from the pain for 2-3 months and only get it on severely mountainous rides. In the end I got a prescription for physiotherapy and will get a second opinion on the matter.
Even though I heard a lot of conflicting opinions on ATL surgery my gut feeling tells me that at the end of the day only surgery will solve the issue long-term. I really want to keep training 10+ hours a week and love riding in the mountains so reducing the amount of cycling that I do is a big limitation for me.
I really want to hear what you have to say about this because I feel like people in /r/velo know the physical demands of high cycling training volume / racing the best.
