A list of puns related to "Analog Synthesizer"
Any advice on the moog grandmother?
Hi All,
I have some questions around audio interfaces and wanted some opinions from you all. I've seen a few threads like this with a lot of contradictory opinions, so I'm hoping I can get some advice from those with much more experience than me and perhaps come to some more stable conclusions.
I am currently using a Saffire Pro 40 to record some high end analog synthesizers (Moog One, Moog Matriarch, Sub 37, etc.) and it's dawned on me from browsing forums and talking to others that recording such beautiful instruments through an old interface, I might not be getting the full potential of these synths captured in my recordings. I don't have much experience with interfaces beyond an Apollo Twin, old Scarletts and my Pro 40.
My main question is; how big of a sonic improvement might I see with upgrading this interface? Those with experience recording analog synthesizers with a variety of interfaces/converters, did you notice a tangible difference upgrading? Is the hype real?
Thanks in advance.
I'm thinking of getting the Ray Wilson book Make: Analog Synthesizers. Does it start from a point of zero knowledge of electronics, or should you have some foundational knowledge before reading?
Ok, so Iβve got a head scratcher: My buddy was doing a service call the other day and called me to ask my opinion. Client is a musician with analog synthesizers plugged into a circuit on an AFCI breaker and the breaker keeps tripping. Visual inspection looked fine. Current measurements were also fine. He also checked continuity for shorts, also fine. What Iβm wondering is this: could the synths in combo with the AFCI be the problem? I know AFCIs analyze waveforms to detect βbad arcsβ and I know the synths manipulate waveforms in order to generate sounds. Any thoughts on this one? I love puzzles like this and Iβm always eager to hear other peopleβs thoughts on this kind of stuff. What do yβall think?
There are analog Synthesizers or Drum Machines that last 40 years like the Minimoog or the Tr 909. My question is, can digital synthesizers and Drum Machines like the Roland boutique series or the Tr-8 also last about 20-30 years like analog synths? (The question relates only to hardware synthesizers / Drum Machines.)
