But the major subplot to all this which is being lost in the excitement is that the AFL managed to sell naming rights to *the score review system*!
Ineffective, slow, pointless and widely hated , I cannot believe a tech company would like to be associated with that, but massive credit to the AFL marketing person who realised it was a perfect fit for crypto. :p
For example, mine is my highschool principal currently married to Richmond AFLW player Sarah D'Arcy.
You could even say that your best friends cousins dogs mothers aunts dad is Plugger or some shit like that, I don't mind
Former Western Bulldogs rookie Jamason Daniels made a Facebook post located here about his personal story and his first handed accounts about how young players can truly struggle in professional sport with mental health when things donβt turn out the way you envision. This post was made after the recent sudden passing of Harley Balic.
ββ-
βVery apprehensively, I have decided to share my story and speak up in hope it might help others who are in a place they never imaginedβ¦
This morning I dragged myself out of bed with little to no sleep after late last night scrolling through social media, I read the devastating news that Harley Balic had triadically passed away. I didnβt know Harley personally, outside of me being a footy nerd and knowing his football journey, but this news hit me like a ton of bricks. Harleyβs story was one I know all too well and for a long time have ignored.
Being an AFL footballer and in the AFL system is no doubt a privilege and something a lot of young men dedicate their lives to. Itβs what I did for a long time. When I was around 15yrs old after being cut from the u15βs Bushrangers team, I made the decision that being an AFL footballer was all I wanted, I would dedicate everything I had to making it happen.
On December 16th 2008 that dream came true and with the 14th pick in the rookie draft the Western Bulldogs took a chance on a skinny wingman from the Murray Bushrangers. Luckily, because only a few weeks earlier I had received my ATAR results and its safe to say a future in academics didnβt look bright.
I had put everything into becoming an AFL footballer and in my mind that was my only option β ALL or NOTHING. I spent every moment I could before and after school training. I was far from the most talented footballer even at my school let alone the Murray Bushrangers. That year we won the TAC Grand Final by 81 points in which my good mate from school (Wanganui Park) Steele Sidebottom kicked 10 goals along with 30 plus possessions. From that team alone we had 12 players drafted, including Steele Sidebottom, Jack Ziebell and Tom Rockliff just to name a few.
What came next was one hell of a rollercoaster. At 5am the next morning I hit the road to Whitten Oval filled with excitement, leaving behind my rock for the last 18 years in my mum and two younger sisters who were still in primary school.
Being in the AFL was everything I had dreamed of and more, if I

Those were the two worst passing teams in the AFL in 1960.
Butch Songin made his NFL debut for the Boston Patriots that year at age 36 and most likely will have more yards than the Bears in 14 games.
Reddit has this new feature on mobile that forces you to have a news section, Iβd always get pretty depressed seeing the news but I kept going back out of habit since you canβt opt out.
But finally I realized that you can change the type of news that shows up, I selected Australian football since i know nothing about it and live far away from Australia so I donβt have to ever worry about local news showing up or listen to people go on rants about video game drama.
So thanks for helping me avoid reality for a bit, Iβve completely broken my habit of constantly checking the news because I know itβs always just Australian football

Football/Sokkah is my second or summer sport but both teams wearing white OR same-coloured shorts was and still is a massive shock (what applies to shorts in AFL are socks. If you see football matches you'll never see teams wear the same-coloured socks).
Afl video games in the 2000s will always have a special place in my heart. I donβt feel it with the new games. Even a remake of Kevin sheddyβs 2002 game would be grand
Something for fans to vent about.
Whether it's umpires (or a certain umpire) having an agenda against your team/player, being bitter about a player leaving your club and being happy elsewhere, certain rules ruining your team, etc;
Not sure how civil this will be (so long as it's in good debatable faith), but personal insults and attacks can be kept to oneselves.
Hi everyone. I live in US, and Iβm fairly new to AFL. But I absolutely love it. I donβt like to watch American football, soccer or basketball. But I love how footy merges these 3 sports beautifully.
I only watch matches available on YouTube, and Iβve come to understand the rules quite well.
However, one thing that surprises me is the relatively small amount of fights between players, considering it is a very physical sport and all the pushing.
My question is, is that the etiquette of the sport? Just pushing each other around and grabbing each other by the shirt whenever they feel like fighting? I think itβs admirable and speaks a lot about good sportsmanship, and I swear Iβve seen players push opponents in aggressive ways but smiling at the same time, which I find hilarious, and the person getting pushed just ignores him and carry on. I love it!
Another question: where is a good place to watch games when in season? I loved the final game between Melbourne and the Bulldogs.
Melbourne vs Geelong was just painful!
The player that got 3 votes in the controversial Melbourne-Richmond game in 2009 was Ben Cousins, and one of three games he polled a Brownlow vote, and the only one with all 3.

WAβs vaccine-hesitant AFL players have until close of business on Friday to receive their first dose, a crucial deadline for the fate of West Coastβs 2022 playing list.
All WA-based AFL players must receive one dose of a COVID-19 vaccination by Friday, while players must be fully vaccinated by February 18 under the leagueβs no jab no play policy.
West Coast are understood to have had up to three vaccine hesitant players while Fremantle declared their entire squad was fully vaccinated last year.
Itβs understood unvaccinated players can still attend training on Friday morning but have until close of business to receive their first vaccination if they havenβt done so already.
West Coast captain Luke Shuey expected all Eagles would meet the deadline.
Shuey was one of several Eagles players and staff to get vaccinated at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre in September last year.
βIt is something I think we need to stay out of and something I donβt probe the guys on and something Iβm probably not going to comment on publicly too much, to be honest,β Shuey told the media this week.
βBecause it is a private issue for whoever is unvaccinated at the moment, to sort through themselves. Iβm confident by whenever it needs to be done, guys will have done what they need to.β
Carlton defender Liam Jones sensationally retired in November because he refused to get vaccinated.
While North Melbourne midfielder Jed Anderson is also yet to have his second COVID-19 vaccination after suffering a poor reaction to his first dose.
In the AFLW, Adelaide defender Deni Varnhagen and St Kilda midfielder Georgia Patrikios have been placed on the inactive list after refusing to receive the vaccination.
Let's do this! Night two!

AFL clubs have questioned whether it is possible to protect players from the COVID-19 surge with βpointlessβ restrictions and daily testing requirements.
One club on Thursday said it did not agree with the need to test players and staff every day before training as it was a βwaste of money and community resourcesβ.
The senior official, who spoke to News Corp on the basis of anonymity, said the players were suffering from restriction fatigue and could not continue to be kept separate from the rest of the community when the menβs preseason resumed on Monday.
There is a belief it could be best for the playing cohort to contract the virus before the season starts to help minimise in-season interruption.
βUnless you keep the players away from their housemates and their family members - like their partners who are working and their children who are going to school - how can you possibly stop them from getting it?β the official said.
βIt is impossible, really, when you consider what is happening around the rest of the country.
βI understand why we have had to do everything we have done over the past two years, and the game is grateful to have been able to continue, but it is time for a rethink on how it all works.
βWhy do we need to test players and staff every day, when they have no symptoms? If they have symptoms, we tell them to stay home.
βOtherwise, it is a complete waste of tests at a time when some people who are genuinely sick canβt get their hands on one.β
The official said it was time the AFL players fell in-line with the standards across the rest of the community which allowed people to enjoy social settings where they could wear masks and social distance.
Adelaide small forward Lachie Murphy, who has been re-signed for two more seasons, agreed.
βAt what point do we scrap the testing, and we treat Omicron like the flu or common cold?β Murphy said on Twitter.
βYou have symptoms, you stay home and wait until you feel better.
βWhy do we have to get tested and a positive result to justify the (sic) youβre sick.
βWaste of time, money and resources.β
The AFLβs Covid-19 requirements are a hot topic in club land as teams prepare to return to training from January 10.
Meetings have been held in recent days in an attempt to identify clearly which players will be sidelined due to Covid-19 protocols.
News Corp confirmed there were more than 50 players currently isolating as a positive case or close contact.
However, club officials contacted on Th
