A list of puns related to "Acadiana"
I have very different opinions than most that post on this sub. I come here sometimes and get into arguments with many of you. However, one thing that I want to say is that I hope that each and every one of you has a very Merry Christmas and I hope that all of you and your families remain safe during the Holiday. No matter what our viewpoints are, one thing we can all agree on is the fact that we are all people, and we should love one another. We may disagree, we may argue, and that's all fine. But in the end, I wish nothing but the absolute best for you and yours. This goes beyond the Holidays, this goes for every day. Happy Holidays, y'all!
What is your favorite ball cap you have bought in the Lafayette area? Need a reliable one as a stable in my wardrobe.
Hi Acadiana,
I am new to reddit and new to Louisiana.
I am looking to find more ways to get outside- We've been to most city parks, but what are you favorite places to get outside? Camping? Fishing? Crabbing? Cheap/free?
Anywhere within an hour or two from Lafayette.
Thanks,

Machine has VGA & HDMI outputs as well as optical S/P DIF audio out (conventional six-channel audio out as well). I do have a lightly used keyboard to go with it but no mouse.
NO WiFi, just Ethernet.
EDIT: Found an internal WiFi chip that works but you'd need to purchase the internal antennas, such as these:

Anyone here know if someone locally is offering lessons for kids? My son has recently expressed an interest in python coding and I want to help him program his raspberry pi but coding is not my area of expertise.
What are your plans for 2022? Leave them down below and let the celebrations begin!!! Canβt wait to roll in the New Year!
I know Youngsville and Broussard have fireworks shows for the 4th of July. Are there any for New Years?
Thanks

The GeForce GTS 240 dual-DVI graphics card is kinda loud, I can swap it out for something with a bit less RAM that's quieter, if you wish.
This machine is big. Big and white with red accents. Black front. Did I mention BIG?
You want the white whale, drop a comment and random.org will decide.
I currently a broadcast journalism student at LSU, and I need an interesting story topic for my final project. Do you guys know of anything interesting happening in the region? Or is there something you wish youβd see coverage of on the news? Thanks!
Greetings to the denizens of /r/Acadiana. I write today with a personal and urgent plea to those of you who donβt choose to vote or involve yourselves in politics. I would ask that you reconsider this position and get involved and exercise your right to vote, in EVERY election.
Itβs understandable to believe that out of tens of millions of votes cast at the national level and millions at the state level, that an individualβs vote doesnβt matter. (Counterexample: the presidential election in 2000 was decided by *537* votes in Florida. Thatβs correct, the entire presidential race was decided in Bushβs favor by 537 more Floridians voting for him.)
In LOCAL politics, however, you absolutely can make a difference. Itβs entirely possible that the Lafayette library millage will be decided by a few hundred or even a few dozen votes. Your vote could make the difference. According to local column The Wire, the previous millage renewal in 2018 failed by 650 votes.
Iβm in favor of the Lafayette parish library millage and I decry the people and organizations that are working to persuade voters that the library system deserves to be punished. You may feel otherwise. Thatβs your prerogative.
Many of you do not call Acadiana your permanent home. Many others, though, are either raising families here or will do so in the future. You who have kids or plan to, I strongly suggest that you get involved with your local school boards as there is a strong push by people who want to turn back the clock to a time when America didnβt face up squarely to its history with a view toward doing better in the future.
Once upon a time, Lafayette became known as the βHub Cityβ because the cityβs leaders made the shrewd and profitable decision to build good roads to the parish seats of the neighboring parishes. These good roads promoted travel to and from Lafayette AND made it easier to go to Lafayette first if your ultimate destination was in another parish. This brought traffic and revenue to Lafayette, making it the biggest and busiest city in the region.
In 1896, Lafayette made another leap forward with Lafayette Utilities System and electrification, and once again Lafayetteβs residents and businesses reaped the benefits. In the early days of the 21st century, Lafayette brought fast Internet to its citizens in the form of LUS Fiber, a successful βmunicipal broadbandβ project that brought Lafayette worldwide attention and has been emulated by other municipalities that were

Just random stuff. What are some cool things I can pick up around town to make into a little acadiana assorted gift basket? Itβs a 9 hour drive so probably no fresh meat or anything that could spoil but liquids are fine!

EDIT: Fifteen people responded in the two subreddits. First, I went to random.org and had a number chosen between 2 and 6, that came up 5. Then I typed all 15 names into the list randomizer and randomized that list 5 times as directed by the first random number. The name at the top of the final list: /u/Apprehensive_Air_878
Decent little desktop, "microtower" case. PSU fan makes a bit of noise sometimes but you can fix that, right? Cable management terrible but you can fix that, right?
VGA, DVI, HDMI video output. Optical audio output. Even has a PS/2 port for an old keyboard or mouse.

I'm a sucker for a bowl of duck gumbo at Charlie G's with paired with a loaf of their french bread and a Rye Ole Fashioned.
Where can we get chorizo in Acadiana? Fresh and authentic preferred of course. I've tried the big grocery stores versions.
BTW, Is chaurice still around?
Thanks for reading--if you have recs for Italian and Polish sausages in the area, please let me know.
I have a DIY project that requires a creative artisit/sculptor. Creating a biplane prop.

Hey yβall, Iβm curious if any of you know of a therapist in the acadiana area that provides gender-affirming healthcare for transgender folk? Thanks in advance β€οΈβ€οΈ
Serious question--do they even still print newspapers? I thought it would be fun to receive weekend delivery. I signed up for a subscription online. Weekend delivery and digital access. After not receiving the paper the first weekend, I called to complain. They said "Sorry, we'll get it straightened out." Then the second weekend went by with no delivery. Then the third, and fourth. Not one paper. So, of course, I cancelled my subscription. Bummed. Does anyone receive home delivery of newspapers anymore? I live in a single-family home in downtown Lafayette, about five blocks form their local office.
While itβs not the norm, some of the comment sections are getting rowdy. We continue to encourage good discussion, but we will taking more precautions to moderate the forum. So, as a friendly reminder, keep it civil(ish,) and as always, racism, bigotry, and misogyny wonβt be tolerated. Covid misinformation will be removed as well.
Other than that, be kind.
Inspired by /u/EngineeringPleasant9's comment on my previous post. Here's what I have so far. Please help me to make this list better! I won't list the local TV and radio stations, maybe y'all could help me with some "deep links" on those sites.

I'm moving to Lafayette next week, and I hope to find a safe place to do some runs. Anyone have any experience running at Acadiana Park? I'm a fat old lady, solo running.
In another posting (maybe in the Louisiana sub?), someone mentioned living near an abandoned prison camp where the US held German prisoners. It has me thinking outside of the obvious places in Acadiana, what else is interesting, weird, strange, etc. that people visiting or even residents of your town/area overlook?
At the risk of allowing the snarky to attempt humor, Iβm asking for ideas for day trips to your town/area. I donβt trust the apps like TripAdvisor and Yelp much anymore. So, I prefer hearing from locals.
Letβs explore all Acadiana; in your town, what to do, to see, to visit, to attend: restaurants, coffee shops, public parks, cool bars, interesting places, churches, historical buildings, roadside markers, local museums, beautiful nature spots, etc.
All sincere replies/suggestions are appreciated.
Let's talk about how Times of Acadiana...well USA Today pimps out the businesses that promote the contest yet the 1st place winners get treated like 4-corner lot lizards!
How many other businesses are annoyed with the ad grab?
I ask because my internet's been down since about midnight. I've called charter but the robot says there's no outage in my area, which is strange because my buddies spectrum internet has also been out since last night. I'm in the opelousas area. Is anyone else having this issue?

If you can't connect via Ethernet you'll need a PCI or USB WiFi device.
With some more RAM this would be an excellent VM host, file server, or even daily driver. I'm out of keyboards & mice (mouses?) and don't have a monitor available, sorry!
Crucial.com says this machine can hold 16GB of DDR3 or DDR3L RAM:https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/dell/vostro-460-mini-tower
