A list of puns related to "Acadian"
If you happen to need an ambulance in the city of Pflugerville you will have green ambulances show up. If you have any issues with them, Acadian can be contacted to report any issues you come across.
Please be aware that any response by their ambulance lasting over 8min after you make your 911 call is unacceptable. You will have an ESD 2 fire unit show up as support but they are legally not allowed (per franchise agreement city council created) to operate in any ALS capacity.
Good luck to everyone and I hope they have no issues. Be aware that this is no where near a long term solution and we should all take note as to what we deserve as a city.
Edit: ESD 2 will still run ambulance service in the ETJ.
Hello namenerds! I'm back doing some family genealogy and stumbled across a pocket of Acadian/Cajun Louisianans that I thought had some interesting names. Forgive me if some these are popular elsewhere but they are, in large, new to my ear (southern US)!
The list below consists of what I thought was interesting for one reason or another. All of the names listed were given to someone born between 1800-1915. Enjoy!

EDIT: to add that if any of these are common elsewhere, I would love to hear about it!
So, Iβm an English speaking Canadian. I work and would like to be able to communicate better with my QuΓ©bΓ©cois and Acadian speaking friends. I took QuΓ©bΓ©cois/Acadian French throughout school and have an okay understanding, but the best learning resources for me are teaching France French.
My question is this, tf am I going to sound like/will people understand me? Iβm going to be speaking with a lot of Frances grammar, a lot of QuΓ©bΓ©cois pronunciation, and Acadian slang lol.
Will I sound like a Hindi speaking man who learned English in Scotland and uses American slang? Because I feel thatβs a lot.
I saw them going to work this morning and again just now during lunch, two guys on four-wheelers going up and down Acadian doing wheelies. Anything we can do about this, or is it like the drag racing and the cops do nothing until someone is dead from being an idiot?
Years ago, on CBC Radio, they were interviewing a lady who was growing an Acadian breed of summer savory. She was only a few years away from having a crop large enough to take it to market.
Periodically, (like every f'ing time I make fricot) I check to see if its for sale and come up with nothing.
Does anybody know A) What I'm talking about and B) did it ever make it to market?
I have a genealogy tree based on hints and records from ancestry.com that matches up almost perfectly with another sitesβ ancestral timeline. My question is, is it normal to NOT receive any βFrench or Canadianβ ethnic breakdown based on 7-8 generations of French & Nova Scotian ancestry?
The last direct descendant on this tree line in that area was last name Babin b. 1754 in Nova Scotia, d. 1782 Louisana.
I also only have three communities in my ancestry profile (which match my known modern ancestry): Early N. Carolina African Americans, Mid-Atlantic African Americans {subgroup - Roanoke River African Americans) & Alabama, Georgia, & S. Carolina African Americans.
Follow up question, were my metis ancestors enslaved by the french people? As an Afro-Carib American, I know about afro & arab history through the various slave trades but am ignorant on indigenous slave trade routes/relations. (*I do know African & Native peoples in colonial USA mixed due to slavery-survival factors but elsewhere in the world unfortunately Iβm ignorant)
I am a paramedic with around 8 years experience (3+ in 911 settings). I am accepting a travel paramedic position with Acadian Ambulance (Austin/Central Texas Region)
I am coming from out of state and know very little about the EMS system in Central TX. Can anyone shed light on how Acadian does things in the greater Austin area? I have found very little information posted recently about how Acadian operates aside from their newly won Pflugerville contract and existing 911 operations in Bastrop. What is the call volume like? Is there a good mix of IFT/911? Are Acadian the only ALS providers in their 911 service areas? What kind of additional medical resources are in the area? So many questions...
By the amount of money their offering, seems like this area may be struggling to find qualified medics (as many companies are).
Hope some TX medics can weigh in...
Thanks

Acadian Lines Buses!!! Remember those?
This 1992 footage of an Acadian Lines bus trip from the Halifax Airport to Truro just went live...
What changes do you see in the buildings and the landscape? Wentworth, Onslow, Big Stop? I'll let you comment first before I chime in... :)

It just seems UNUSUALLY heavy. We went back out when I got home last night and it took us about an hour to get back to College Drive south of Perkins Road. EVERY intersection was backed up with three times the normal amount of cars & trucks. What's with the overload???
