A list of puns related to "Academy Award For Best Original Song"
The official eligibility rules for the category read: an original song consists of words and music, both of which are original and written specifically for the motion picture. There must be a clearly audible, intelligible, substantive rendition (not necessarily visually presented) of both lyric and melody, used in the body of the motion picture or as the first music cue in the end credits.
The flaw here is that credits music is allowed. In my humble opinion, the rule should be changed to require the song to be used within the body of the film. I feel like it's too easy to tack on a song that has zero use within a film and have it play over the end credits, just to snag a nomination. Reward films that weave music into their narrative, not just ones that plug and play after the story ends.
