Unpopular opinion- but aamir is an equal when it comes to box office numbers. He was the one who started the 100 cr club with ghajini and subsequently gave the highest grosser of all time with 3 idiots, PK and dangal. A rare flop (toh) is not going to change it. Even in that case, it was the highest opener of all time. When it comes to all-time lists (opening or lifetime), he is far ahead. His box office credentials is underrated. He is right up there with salman. When salman's movies flop, they flop badly- like tubelight which just crossed the 100 cr mark. Aamir's lowest grosser is 150 cr. In fact, the only flop before toh was mela, which came out in 2000. He is truly one of the biggest superstars of all time. Just because he does not have a crazy fanbase like salman, people tend to not think much of him as a box office actor.
The Aamir Khan of today is a celebrated actor, but back in the day, Aamir Khan had quite a notorious reputation of being a ‘prankster’ and spitting on his female co-stars. One famous incident is when Aamir Khan spat in the hands of Madhuri Dixit under the guise of reading her fortune through palm reading. This happened on the sets of the 1990 movie Dil. This “prank” infuriated Madhuri Dixit, who reportedly chased after Aamir with a hockey stick.
This is just one of many times Aamir Khan has performed this prank. In 2016, at the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival on a reunion panel for the 1992 movie Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander, Director Farah Khan revealed that “Aamir used to do this to everyone and he still doing this …he is like ‘Let me read your hand’. And then he would spit on it…”
In response, Aamir Khan, who was part of the same panel, replied, “Maine jis heroine ke haath par thukha hai wo number one ban gayi,” loosely translating to, “Whichever heroine I spat in the palm of, became a number one heroine.”
Bollywood actress Pooja Bedi, who was also in attendance, said, “I’ll tell my daughter Aalia that you have to go and meet Aamir uncle he needs to spit on your hand.”
However, not all actresses have taken lightly to Aamir Khan’s spitting prank. On the sets of the 1997 movie Ishq, Aamir Khan asked for Juhi Chawla’s hand in front of many crew members. When Juhi did so, Aamir Khan spat in her hand and ran away, in full view of the crew members.
This infuriated Juhi Chawla to the degree that she did not attend the shoot the next day. Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla stopped talking for years over the spitting incident but eventually made up many years later.
Excerpt from the interview:
"There have been times when I have been down in the dumps, I’ve had my back against the wall and haven’t been sure how to get out of it, at such times, what is important for me is to not lose hope, because when you lose hope, you lose all. I hesitate to say this as it is very easy for me because I happen to be in a privileged position. It is not that easy for someone who is not in a privileged position and has got their back against the wall."
"It was a stroke of luck that I was born in Mumbai in a privileged environment, where my parents could afford an education for me and I had a sheltered childhood. If I was born in a village where I didn’t have resources, I’d be sitting there. I remark often that there is no difference between me and that gentleman sitting outside a temple in a village. It was just a matter of chance that he was born there and I was born here. Our rights are the same, our responsibilities too are the same, we ideally should look at each other as one."
"In his last social media post, Aamir Khan wrote that his heart is full with the love and warmth from his fans. He wrote, "Hey guys, thank you so much for all the love and warmth on my birthday. My heart is full. In other news, this is going to be my last post on social media. Considering that I an SO active anyway, I have decided to drop the pretence. We will continue to communicate as we did before."

S S Rajamouli can breathe easy. When I last spoke to him he seemed a little concerned about Aamir Khan beating him to directing a screen version of the Mahabharat.
After almost two years of rigorous research on the subject and a determination to do justice to the epic saga, Aamir has decided to shelve his plans for making Mahabharat, at least for now.
“Aamir can’t afford to devote two years of his life to make a web series (Mahabharat was planned as a web series). He needs to quickly announce his presence in a big star-studded feature film directed by a reliable director,” says the source, adding that the decision to set aside Mahabharat was not only commerce-based.
“There were bound to be unsavoury controversies surrounding the project. Aamir feels now is not the right time to make the Mahabharat,” says the source.
Significantly, Aamir had opted out of astronaut Rakesh Sharma’s bio-pic to concentrate on his dream project the Mahabharat. Aamir had generously passed on the Rakesh Sharma project to Shah Rukh Khan.
Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor, who had a special cameo in Aamir Khan's 'PK', will play the lead role in the sequel of the 2014 film, revealed producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
In a recent interview the 'Shikara' filmmaker revealed that the makers are just waiting for writer Abhijat Joshi to come up with a script for the second installment.
"We will make the sequel. We had shown Ranbir [Kapoor’s character landing on the planet] towards the end of the film, so there is a story to tell. But Abhijat has not written it yet. The day he writes it, we will make it," he was quoted as saying by Mid Day.
The director said that their main goal isn't making money but making cinema. If making money was the goal, they would've made 'six to seven Mumnna Bhai and two to three PK,' he said.
This will mark Ranbir Kapoor's second collaboration with director Rajkumar Hirani. They've previously worked together in Sanjay Dutt's biopic - 'Sanju'.
Aamir Khan's satirical drama film also featured Anushka Sharma and Sushant Singh Rajput.
It revolves around an innocent alien who's stranded on planet Earth after losing his communication device. The climax of the comedy flick showed the 'Sanju' actor- who's also playing an alien from another planet, landing on Earth.
Ranbir Kapoor is currently shooting for Luv Ranjan's upcoming next, which also stars Shraddha Kapoor. It will release on Holi, 18th March 2022.
The shooting of the yet untitled Rom-Com commenced this January in Delhi. Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor have been paired together for the first time in this film. The film also stars Dimple Kapadia and Boney Kapoor.
It was announced a few weeks back that Aanand L. Rai is all set to make a biopic on Grandmaster Vishwanathan Anand. While there has been no official announcement from the filmmaker, producer Mahaveer Jain excitedly shared the news. The next big question was, who would play the chess champion in his biopic. Several reports have suggested that it would be essayed by none other than Dhanush. However, Mahaveer Jain has another opinion.
The producer feels that the only person who would be able to do justice to the film, and the grandmaster is none other than perfectionist Aamir Khan. Talking to Pinkvilla, he said, “The biopic of Viswanathan Anand is a very ambitious project for us. We are still working on the script and it is too early to comment on the casting. Personally, I feel Mr. Aamir Khan would
Reference be a suitable choice to play Viswanathan Anand. But it depends on many factors.”

Aamir Khan enlightened the audience about why he "spits" on a lady's hand .The star, who is usually a prankster on the sets of his films, was sharing the stage with his Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar co-stars at the Jio MAMI 18th Mumbai Film Festival when Farah Khan recalled one such moment.
Farah said, "Aamir used to do this to everyone and he's still doing this ...he is like 'Let me read your hand'. And then he would spit on it..." Quick to retort, the PK star light-heartedly replied, "Maine jis heroine ke haath par thukha hai wo number one ban gayi"
Pooja Bedi, who was also taking part in the conversation joined in to say, "I'll tell my daughter Aalia that you have to go and meet Aamir uncle he needs to spit on your hand."#
