Wireless LAN for my PC

Hello dear Redditors,

I recently moved out from my home, where my PC used to stand near our Internet Access-point, so we just used cable. I now life in a place where I have to use WLAN, but my PC doesn't have the ability to Connect to it build in. "Easy enough" I thought, went on Amazon, bought a thing that you put in a USB Port and grants WLAN access and started playing with it. It is absolutely terrible. I thought that it wouldn't matter too much what exactly I buy, since that seemed like a rather simple thing, but what I picked seems to be horrible. Do you guys have any recommmendations for a good Alternative? I don't want to waste another 20€

Also, the connection itself is not the problem, other Devices in the same room work fine.

How to test Wireless Lan Speed transfer (not internet) in a WiFi 6 Lan

Hi, i would like to test the speed of my wireless at different distances from the router, using a Macbook. Not internet speed, but the effective data transfer from my router in the wireless lan at home. My Wifi 6 is supposed to transfer at 3000Mbit/s, and i would like to test if it's a real number and how much it will change as i go far from the router.

Any suggestion

Anyone dealt with wake on wireless lan (WOWLAN) with windows 10?

I have gotten regular WOL working but it's ethernet through power which is slow and takes up a power socket. I got a new wifi card that's great but I can't seem to get WOWLAN to work. It's a PCIe wifi card. I have bios set to allow PCIe wake, I feel like all the windows options are set correctly. Is there maybe something I'm missing?

Airlink low bitrate due to wireless LAN network

Hi all,

Been testing my airlink connection and I'm only getting 20-30 Mbps with airlink set to dynamic 200mbps.

My pc is pretty good with a 3070ti and networked on a 5ghz 802.1 AC network.

However after doing some testing, when I wire my pc to the router I can get over 100mbps (still not 200 :() fixed bitrate so I know it's the Lan that's the issue.

Just wanted to ask what the options are, should I be looking at new, higher spec'd routers? I could try move my pc closer to my router see if that helps, it's only in the next room though, but there is a solid wall between them.

Anyway, opinions welcome. Thanks

Miracast on existing wireless network or LAN - Surface Hub

Has anyone tried using this? I'm sure it's not gaming worthy, but I think that this sub will be the most versed in wired remote display.

Would be interested to see how this performs vs nVidia shield or an rpi4 running moonlight.
