A list of puns related to "Vedda"
This one took two nights of practice, one to transcribe it and the other to get the mechanics of a few sections. I started with the arpeggio sweeps at the end so that every time I'd play through, I'd be actively practicing the hardest part for me to nail.
I read online this morning that the original settlers of East Timor spoke a language related to Vedda and Australian languages. I had never heard of Vedda before, and learned that they are an indigenous group from Sri Lanka (which was news to me, as I assumed that Sri Lanka was originally populated by Dravidian or Indo-Aryan speakers). The Wikipedia page seemed somewhat unscientific, and wasn't clear about whether Vedda was an isolated indigenous language, a dialect of Sinhala (from an indigenous substrate?), or a creole.
I couldn't find much more information online. Does anyone here know more? I'm intrigued based on what I've read so far.
Has anyone here heard of the โVedda Blood Sugar Remedyโ?? Itโs supposed to be based off of a tribe in Sri Lanka that has no diabetes/blood sugar problems because of this 'miraculous' diet. My dad (Type II) is currently into it. Heโs already spent $30 on the PDF and was saying how he wants to buy more bonus material (the first payment is for a PDF, but apparently if you pay an additional fee, you get the special remedy shortcuts document). When I poked and probed, I found out that he was hooked on this amazing remedy for diabetes/blood sugar after seeing an ad on it. Iโve tried to research it online but all my Googling has come up with zero tangible evidence. There are some โtestimonialsโ on them, but even the few supposed independent websites reviewing it just donโt seem legit and use more or less the same words.
It sounds (and feels) so sketchy and scammy, but I have no proof, just a gut feeling which I know wonโt fly when I try to tell my parents not to throw more money at this random website. Help!
Update: Thanks guys! I knew I should've gone with my gut. I've glanced at some pages of the PDF, and though the info doesn't seem too damaging (aka. they're not making any claims like buy these magical pills and cure diabetes forever - more like dietary changes), I'm still pretty wary. I just want my Dad to be safe, healthy, and happy! Looks like I'm going to have a long chat with my parents about learning to take things on the Internet with a fist of salt... and some extra Googling.
Edit: Added some details and changed some wording at the beginning because I realise it kinda sounds like I'm supporting this craziness when that couldn't be further from the truth.
Hello All!
I am loving it here in Sri Lanka. It is a photographerโs dream- colorful, friendly and vibrant. I am here looking to learn about and photograph the Vedda people and was wondering where this would actually be possible? Iโve heard absolute nightmares about the โVedda Villageโ of Dambana, and was hoping to avoid it. Any recommendations as to where they still reside or where I could possibly arrange a meeting? I know Gal Oya lodge offers to make arrangements with Vedda in that area but their rooms are all sold out and their staff told me they will not make an arrangement for me to meet the tribe unless I stay in their suites :(
Any other spots recommended ?
If I wind up having to go to Dambana, has anyone been? I heard they want 1000 rupees for each posed photo?
Really looking forward for the rest of my time here and hope something comes about thatโll allow me to have a great experience and learn about their history, how they feel deforestation has affected them, their opinions on technology, etc.
Here are a couple standouts:
And here's some bonus talkbox action.
Super crisp, melodic, technical, and great feel. They basically check all the boxes for the type of music he makes, and really elevate some otherwise simple songs.
If you're on mobile, the timestamps are 1:54, 2:11, and 2:07, respectively.
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Do your worst!
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
