Hiccups in third trimester, anyone nervous about umbilical cord compression or prolapse?

FTM, 32w and 5d with di/di twins. Baby A has been having more frequent hiccups recently however I’ve read a few articles online stating that hiccups from 32 weeks on may be a sign of distress due to the umbilical cord potentially wrapped around their neck cutting off the oxygen supply. Frequent hiccups = three days this week, twice today and once the others. Duration is around 5-10 minutes (that I’ve noticed) each. Has anyone else had this concern, or any experience with frequency of hiccups in their third trimester they can share? Thank you!

Since when has an EMERGENCY C SECTION and a PROLAPSED UMBILICAL CORD been a funny, sensational story?!

Now I am all for a 'storytime' video... 'my house is haunted'.... 'how i broke my leg, pinky toe and pinky finger AT THE SAME TIME'... 'i rescued a baby unicorn from Voldemort, then I touched his face and he crumbled to dust in my hands hehe #justgirlythiiiings'.... but this....

This aint it!!!!

I cant even put into words my level of disgust. I find myself a lot of the time when referring to the disgusting actions of narcissists just repeating the same thing: 'i DONT understand!!!!' and then one day a friend said to me 'that is because you arent supposed to understand and its a good thing that you dont because that means your brain works so differently that you cant even fathom this behaviour'. I am furious and I found myself really tearful watching the video, because of her obvious disconnect from those two tiny little fragile lives that were taken from her body 8 weeks early. This may be an unpopular opinion but I dont believe a single emotion that she shows after that video. A narcissist doesnt have the ability to connect to other human beings and I feel like these babies are no exception.

They are a money maker, her experiences pre and post birth are stories that will gain her lots of views and lots of sympathy from the kids that watch her and think shes a total queen. I think she feels love for the twins but its not the same kind of love to what most people feel for their children. It was really eerie watching her tell the story, she went from laughing hysterically to 'crying' and the worst part is she really looked like she was relishing the retelling of this, literally swirling it around in her mouth and savouring every word before it came out. Nothing she said adds up, theres just literally no way she could have got to the point of just before she was rushed into theatre with no thought that she might need to hurry a bit. That this is not funny or cool or casual.

The fact that shes wearing her 'i cry a lot' merch that she plugs right from the beginning is DIS-GUST-ING!!!! She said it was tacky to plug it and its the only thing i agreed with her on. She was also 10mins into a 30min video when she attempts to shed her first tear and claims 'omg im jus gonna be crying through this whole video im SSSSSOOOOOOO hormonal guizzzzz'... well actually you are already a 3rd of the way into the video and this is the first time.... try harder colleen, come on, those tears arent going to fake themselves! I know im being bitchy but I am so angry I honestly don

Am I weird for thinking my wife’s weird for keeping all our kids fallen off body pieces (teeth, umbilical cord, nail clippings etc.) in a chest in the closet?

Edit: She came out of the bathroom just a moment ago and said β€œyou asked f****** Reddit”? She’s not talking to me now but if you read this Hunny, I told you it was weird.

Edit 2: My wife isn’t mad everyone lol, she’s more upset/surprised that the majority agrees weird . Some on Reddit need to realize not every married couple turns everything into a fight. We both had a great morning of laughs over this. Some on Reddit also need to realize just because something is weird doesn’t mean it requires mental health professionals lol. While I think she’s weird for it, it’s really not a big deal. They’re her kids she carried and she can keep whatever body pieces she wants. I will however of course start storing used baby wipes from changing the newborn in my closet in a chest for her to find.

Where did the idea of "eating" the Third Umbilical Cords come from?

By which I mean, any time you hear people talk about using the Third Cords, they always say "eat" them or "consume" them, as if they are literally an edible item that you swallow. It's such a ubiquitous way of describing their use that it turns up in memes.

But...there's no in-game indication that you do anything of the sort. When you use a Cord, you hold it up in your hand and do the "crushing fist" motion like when you use a Madman's Knowledge or a Coldblood Dew. (By contrast, when you use a Blue Elixir or Sedative, you put your hand to your face and do the little "chug" motion to indicate that you're drinking the item.)

So why is it that, when the game animation doesn't show you eating, and the text of the game doesn't talk about you eating, nonetheless the entire fan community has the PC chowing down on bits of dead eldritch baby? How did that get started?

AITA for throwing away my gf's umbilical cord?

This is a repost. OP is u/smellyuglypouch. I am NOT OP!

Original first posted to r/AmItheAsshole

Hi, my (34M) gf (21F) of two years is native American and she had this small, beaten up leather pouch. It was about the size of a golf ball, and it was beaded but there were beads missing and thread exposed and the leather was stained and greasy with something. It was supposed to look like a turtle or a lizard or something, but it was so beaten that I was hard to tell. The thing absolutely stunk. We had it in a box of keepsakes along with our photos and other things, and it made the box have a musty smell.

Imagine my horror when I asked her what the thing was, and she told me it was her umbilical cord?? It grossed me out and I thought she was joking, so I laughed. She looked upset, so I asked if she was serious. She was. I asked her why she had it, and she told me it was her people's cultural practice to stop you from searching for things or something among other things. I thought the sentiment was nice, but it stunk and was hideous.

I understand that some people keep teeth and that sort of thing, but teeth don't stink. And teeth aren't kept in a strange little pouch. The whole thing skeezed me out, so I put it back and left it alone.

But two weeks ago when she was sleeping, I was going through our things and wanted to scan an old photo. I opened our keepsake box and the wave of musty air hit me. I couldn't take it anymore, so I hid the thing in a box in the basement. We went through our photos and things together (it was a lovely night, we did it over wine) and she didn't even acknowledge that it was missing. I even asked her if she noticed anything gone from our stuff. She said she didn't, and laughed.

So yesterday, I decided to rid us of it and put it in the trash. It went, and I could breathe a sigh of relief knowing my girlfriend's actual entire mummified umbilical cord was where it should've been to begin with.

But today her mom called, and told her that she was willing to remake the pouch for her if she sent it. Oops... She proceeded to tear apart our room looking for it, sobbing hysterically and not listening to any kind of reason... I'll admit, I felt bad. Maybe I should've just left it alone, but why even keep such a thing? I came clean and told her that I threw it away because I thought she wouldn't notice.

She started screaming at me

How does your country or culture deal with baby's umbilical cord stump?

I post this question out of interest, just wondering how you deal with bubs umbilical stump. Like the little bit that sticks out their bellybutton.

Here in Australia my bubs has a little plastic clamp about half an inch down the cord. We have been taught to basically ignore the cord, don't let anything rub or irritate it, but just leave it till it will fall off. Only time to pay attention if it gets infected

Benefits Of Not Cutting The Umbilical Cord Soon After The Childbirth

The umbilical cord transports nutrients and oxygen-rich blood from the mother to the baby during pregnancy. It also connects the baby to the placenta, which is still attached to the mother’s uterus. After the baby’s birth, the cord is cut so that the baby is no longer attached to the placenta and she’s separated from the mother.

Well! Cutting the umbilical cord immediately after birth of the baby has been a common practice in the medical fraternity. However, research has it that maybe it isn’t bad to cut the umbilical cord immediately after the baby’s birth, butΒ delayed cord-cuttingΒ is recommended.

Read about this article why delayed umbilical cord cutting is recommended here: https://www.cordlifeindia.com/blog/benefits-of-cutting-umbilical-cord-after-childbirth/

I’ve been undoing the knots and watching them, but i’ve just read that pulling on the cords can cause them to have umbilical hernias, yikes. I’m gonna take them all to my vet tomorrow, but is this urgent enough for the emergency vet? It’s 12:48 am right now, and all the information i keep reading about cutting the cords yourself is contradicting. Please help me, I don’t want to lose even one of the seven.

"it's time to cut the umbilical cord"... really? i was surprised by that comment too!

"I'm going to my mom's, in case you want to meet there when you get out of work" is a call I get from my wife of 10 years, many times a month. That's it, no questions asked, it's more like just an FYI. I am totally ok with that, we have 2 kids a 4yr old and a 4month, I know she's overwhelmed. She works 3 days a week 12 hour shifts, so I understand, I'm really easy going.

FORGET OUR PREVIOUS PLANS. Because of her schedule at work, she was certain that she'd get Christmas off for sure, but she was uncertain about new years. So we had agreed that Christmas would be spent with her parents, even though it was this years turn to be spent with my parents and then for New Year's i'd travel with the kids to visit my parents and celebrate my sister's b-day (which is on the 1st)because she would work. Suddenly the plans of me going to my parents house for new years FADED away the moment she found out she also has that day off and she started planning with her parents what meals we'd prepare together along with other plans. I'm ok with that, so I called my mom, of course she was bummed out, so I told her I might go the following weekend from the 7th to the 10th without my wife because she works.

THIS IS THE PROBLEM. Excited i found a solution that worked I told my wife, "Hey, even though we had agreed to go for new year's, i told my mom I might go from the 7th to the 10th with the kids when you work (again she works 7am to 8pm, i'd be home with the kids by myself anyway), since you don't really like to hangout with my family it works out perfect". she replied hysterically "it's time to cut the umbilical cord, you always make plans and don't tell me about them first, I'm your wife, quit acting like you're single". i was really taken by surprise by her response. yes, i didn't consult it with her first, because it was an idea that popped into my head and i said to my mom "I might".

HOW IS THIS DIFFERENT from "I'm going to my mom's, in case you want to meet"? it's not like she consulted me before making plans to go to her parents. I Brought this example up to her and she said "it's not the same, my parents are local" but logically speaking, she made plans without consulting with me, regardless of whether her parents were local or not. I only travel home about twice a year if I'm lucky, I know I would travel more, but I don't precisely to avoid fighting with her about it.

sorry if i bored you, writing it down also helped me vent. but i do hope to get responses to
