Could you imagine if Stalin signed a treaty with Hitler giving each of them a sphere of influence that the other wouldnβt invade, that also included a trade agreement in which the Soviet Union would give Germany the war materials it needed? Or Stalin allowing German soldiers to train in Russia?

During the Cold War, when the Soviet Union started expanding its influence. Why didn't it target India and try and install a pro-soviet government or just make it an ally since it was already often trading with the Soviet Union?
I fail to see what disadvantages there are to not do it when looking at India's geographical location, economic potential, population, and many Indians are still traumatized from Western colonization making the task far easier.

Looking to Learn about the Soviet Union Kicking Nazi Ass in WW2
Hello everyone. As the title implies, I don't know jack about history, having been flooded with propaganda all my life about how the "US was back-to-back World War Champs! OooRaa!" and so on.
Now that I'm trying (hopelessly) to educate myself on leftist matters, people's history, all that kinda stuff, I come across people saying, instead, "The Soviets won the war." And I wanna learn more, but obviously most of the mainstream stuff I've looked at is trying so, so hard not to say anything positive about Russia.
Can anyone point me to some good sources (reading, docs, pods, whatever) for learning about Russia in WW2?
I mean... 27 million dead? What. That's not something I learned in school. Jesus... (and happy birthday jesus and ghislaine)

What's happening in Punjab is the repition of 1980s events post Soviet Union getting defeated in Afghanistan. ISI is now going full throttle to disturb Punjab and Kashmir.
The threat this time is unlike 1980s. This time China is at our border and kahoot with ISI, destabilization of India via the means of SM and information warfare is in full throttle and destabilized eastern front. Politics within the country is also not calm parties are increasingly getting agited by not gaining power and are willing to literally sleep in bed with enemy to come to power.

The US should start treating China like it did the Soviet Union back in the day
Both are communist countries that committed genocide, though China is a more serious threat to the US. Mind you, it is somehow considered racist to suggest that we not be buddy buddy with a country that is COMMITTING LITERAL GENOCIDE, because most of their population isn't white. China is taking over our culture and twisting it to make themselves look better. At this rate, China will surpass the US in military strength. China is also geographically closer to most of the US than the Soviet Union was. At the end of the day, the US is still stronger than China, and we need to show them they can't mess with us, sooner rather than later. Maybe this wouldn't be a problem if China wasn't attempting to take over US culture, and didn't have an unwarranted hatred for us. I'm generally a non-interventionist, but we need to do something to keep China more in line. It doesn't matter which side you are on left or right, at the end of the day, something needs to be done about the CCP. China has also manipulated their own currency, partially causing US wealth inequality.

In the metro universe did the Soviet Union fall or not?
I'm playing exodus at the moment and I'm a little confused about this. Miller mentions the Commonwealth of Independent States, which formed after the Soviet Union collapsed. Presumably the Russian government he swears loyalty to is the Russian Federation but he wears a hammer and sickle insignia on his cap. (spoilers ahead) Also the uniforms worn by the canibalistic remnants of the government base look kind of Soviet era to me.
I get that some equipment in rural areas (like Krest's rail car) might still have Soviet era markings because the government in Moscow never got around to updating machinery there, but the rest confuses me
Edit: Grammar

In the US around the 1970s there were segments of society that were considered to have communist sympathies (e.g. unions, academia, artists). Were there any groups in the Soviet Union that were considered more prone to capitalist sympathies?
I understand that the Soviet Union was a bit less free to have certain political opinions, but I was curious if there were any sections of society that might be stereotyped as being "hotbeds of pro-capitalist ideas"? And if so, what sort of ideas did these groups generally promote?
I also mean pro-capitalist as opposed to groups that generally criticized the Soviet Union for failing to live up to its ideals, which also appears to have been something that writers did with some frequency but not necessarily promoting any capitalist ideas by themselves.
