A list of puns related to "Thin Lizzy"
Absolutely love Thin Lizzy and they are one of my favourite bands. True pioneers of rock & roll. It is a crying shame that Phil Lynot was taken from us too soon.
They finally managed to get nomination for a place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame recently, and I was fuming when they didn't get accepted. Do you think they deserve to have a place with the greats?
Obviously lots of people will just be familiar with The Boy Are Back in Town, but they did have some other great albums and hits (the version they did of Dancing in the Moonlight on The Peel Sessions is one of the best tracks of any artist I have heard).
What do you think of them? I am interested to read some of your favourite Thin Lizzy memories of times gone by.
In Thin Lizzy's 'Boys are Back in Town' it refers to Dino's Bar & Grill, was this a well-known Dublin establishment at the time or is it a fictional bar?
Are there other references of pubs etc in Thin Lizzy that can actually be visited? Did Phil frequent any known bars?
Btw relating to the 30 year rule, the song came out in 1976.
Edit: Found an interview online and apparently it's in Los Angeles:
'"The reference to Dinoβs Bar βnβ Grill in the third verse had to do with Los Angeles. As a kid, Phil loved β77 Sunset Strip,β the early β60s American TV detective series that aired in reruns on Irish television.
For Phil, that show was the epitome of Hollywood. When we were in L.A. on our first American tour in 1975, Phil walked the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood looking for No. 77. That number didnβt exist.
When he asked a parking attendant, the guy pointed across the street at Dinoβs Lodge, which appeared on the showβs opener. Phil added βBar βnβ Grillβ to Dinoβs because it sounded way better than βlodgeβ and more American."
Hey guys,
Not sure if this is an appropriate place to post this but itβs a specific request so I went to the most specific sub.
Iβm a 21M guitar player in NY (Westchester-NYC area). I really wanna jam Lizzy tracks with other people who love them like I do and maybe even do some live shows at some point. I definitely wanna jam tons of other stuff by other bands as well but I really love the guitar harmony and swing rhythm that Thin Lizzy brings in nearly every song. Feel free to message me!
PS. I donβt mind traveling
Phil Lynott is both an incredible bass player and has the Perfect voice for their style. They should be held to the same esteem as their contemporaries
