Did anyone capture this? It is supposed to be amazing! I can't believe I hadn't heard about it in advance. It was live and there is no stream. Someone must have it!!!
Hereβs a link to the event chart for Rocky Horror Picture Show :)
So, with Richard Nixonβs resignation speech playing in Brad and Janetβs car, I was able to find a date and approximate time for the happenings of the movie. Thereβs several towns named βDentonβ in the United States, so I just used Washington, DC.
Right off the bat, we have a Leo sun, Aries moon, and a Pisces rising; very funky energy just from that.
With Pisces being on the ascendant, Neptune is the chart ruler; that brings a dreamlike, almost otherworldly vibe to the whole thing. And itβs literally a movie about cross-dressing aliens, so that kinda checks out imo. Also, Neptune is in the 9th house; that points to an individual who is drawn to mystical experiences and wants to break boundaries, so the possibilities for some just plain weird shit going down are endless.
In addition to that Leo sun, we have Jupiter in the first house. With Jupiter, the planet of expansion, in the house of ego and first impressions, we have a native (or event? idk) with boundless confidence. A whole lot of audacity. BDE, if you will.
Also, we have Venus in a semi-square to Mars. That could give us an individual who loves to perform, and they are very vocal.
Iβm sure thereβs more to unpack with this chart but Iβm not really sure where to go from here.
But in conclusion, I think that this chart is fitting for a movie as funky and bizzare as the Rocky Horror Picture Show. I honestly wish I could forget it and see it for the first time again.
(also, im no professional so i mightβve entirely missed the mark on this lol)

Had this conversation with my fiance last night: Did the Rocky Horror Picture Show make a positive or negative impact on the trans world?
From what I heard it gave transgender and other "sexual aliens" a community and an identity in a new medium. Sure, there are a lot of things that don't look good through 2020-glasses, and those are fair critiques. The rape scene could go, Meatloaf was never a strong move, etc...
But what does truscum think?
Mine are Damn It, Janet and Toucha Toucha Toucha Touch Me. I love those two because they sound really good and I love libretto in Touch Me.
Phantom of the Paradise is an awesome horror-romp, drenched in fun music and sumptuous visuals! If you like The Rocky Horror Picture Show but want something a tad bit more serious, and a little less hokey, then this is the film for you. Oh, and did I mention it is an early Brian De Palma film; written and directed by the legendary filmmaker, with music by Grammy winning artist Paul Williams (who also co-stars in the film)? Thatβs right, this movie sounds and looks great!
The plot revolves around an evil music producer, Paul Williamsβ character Swan, who entices an up-and-coming singer-songwriter in to a Faustian deal with the devil so he can open his new fantastic venue: The Paradise. Of course the songwriter gets more than he bargained for, as he is cast aside and his music bastardized by the evil Swan. Add in some romantic subplots, some great singing, fun musical numbers that balance both camp and seriousness perfectly, a plot that is both easy to understand and filled with literary pedigree, and youβve got a great rock opera on your hands!
De Palma and Williams draw heavily from not just literary references like Faust, The Phantom of the Paradise, Pictures of Dorian Gray, Trilby, and more; but also classic film such as: Touch of Evil, Vertigo, Psycho, and The Manchurian Candidate. That seems like a lot, but De Palmaβs great directing and Williamsβ expert songwriting meld all these passions together in to a delightfully fun and weird 70βs pastiche. It also goes without saying that Williamsβ portrayal as the Swan is wonderfully evil, with a cool and collected demeanor that feels disturbingly close to home I would imagine for anyone familiar with the music industry.
The songs are a blast, but donβt expect sing-a-longs a la The Rocky Horror Picture Show. These are big spectacle musical numbers, with difficult range requirements, large sets (often witnessed in a meta-from-behind-the-curtain fashion), and even larger personalities. Highlights include a genderfluid belter performed by a rock beefcake, suitably named Beef, in Frankenstein-ian style; riffs on both Buddy Holly and The Beach Boys; and a huge musical climax with hundreds of scantily-clad flamenco dancers and acrobats in a technicolor wedding hall.
Itβs these musical numbers, literary references, and film references that keep me coming back time and again to this film. While The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a timeless classic, and treated as such; ultimately it feels like a carnival ride or fas

On my most recent rewatch, however, I noticed at least two more instances of American Gothic imagery. First when Brad and Janet enter the castle, the painting is hanging on the wall just before the start of Time Warp. Second, and more subtly, when Riff Raff and Magenta turn on Frank at the end of the film, Riff Raff is holding a blaster with three-prongs, much like a pitchfork, which is seen in the American Gothic painting in the arms of the farmer (also Riff Raff is played by Richard OβBrien who played the farmer man from the painting during the wedding scene, so its also a bit of a call-back).
The famous artwork is considered to represent classic American values/societal values by many which got me think as to why it was featured. This led me to a bit of a realization that the running motif of this painting throughout the film is actually a very meta sort of symbolism.
In the beginning the two characters are present during the All-American wedding scene , in the middle of the country at a small church. Not to mention our two painfully stereotyped leads who act as the generic male and female archetypes are playing out a classic love story. This scene reads like itβs putting very classic societal normalities on full display, which is why the American Gothic painting is personified in this scene and always in the background.
In the next instance of this imagery, itβs the point in the film where it starts become far more radical in its subject matter and portrayal of people and situations. Everything from very erotic dancing to androgynous characters is starting to be on full display at this point, mean while Brad and Janet, our βnormalβ leads, are present to supplement this rebellious attitude with their more traditional societal viewpoints. And in this scene, the painting once personified is a mere accessory on the wall. In this scene the movie is using the painting to symbolically show that itβs using classic American values as an accessory to showcase the filmβs radical attitude.
And lastly, and most simply of the examples, the last scene shows Riff Raff, who agin was played by OmBrien who also played the farmer in the beginning, with a very distorted, radical appearance. And the farmers pit
