The Paradox of Choice Puns

Over the last year I’ve been learning about and implementing minimalism into my life as I see fit. One big thing I’ve noticed is that having too many options leaves me unable to pick one. For example I noticed I would spend a lot of time picking a video game to play, and waste the majority of my time making that decision. I try to solve these by hiding the ones I don’t play and creating a favorites list which is easy on steam.

Now I have to tackle my books, I have a little over 200 of them and they do bring me joy so I won’t purge them. But I realize having shelves full of books in my room makes it impossible for me to routinely read one, so I only want to have a few out on my shelf and basically cycle them out as I read them. Just wondering if anyone else does this/how do you store your books out of sight?

The Paradox of Choice is basically where you have a lot of options so you never choose anything thinking something better is around the corner.

If you are someone that has a lot of girls or guys like you, and instead of setting down with great 6s 7s, you are constantly ignoring them hoping to find 9s and 10s what do you do to finally settle down with someone?

I'm 32 Y/O and i'm really in a position that i guess lots of people have also.

To give a bit of context, I have an IT Degree that i had 12 years ago. I've been IT technician, Sysadmin and then i made different big projects for some clients in 2 IT Service companies.

4 years ago i changed company and i went to a customer as the "Local IT". I've got around 400 users locally and belong to a bigger company(10 000 people). I'm the IT "handyman". I have to manage all the stuff related to IT, help users, new servers, infra, local development, contracts, customer relationship etc. I've got a part time worker working for me.

3 years ago, i started in parallel of my job an engineering degree. I'll finish it in few month. During this engineering degree i've seen lot of stuff that i really enjoyed both during the course, in the company or that i have done at home :

DataScience, IOT, SoftwareDevelopment, WebDevelopment etc.

The fact is now i don't want to do the support part that i have to do locally. I'm really tired of the "basic" things that people require me to do : printer issues, small problems etc. I have the feeling that i'm missing some technology "trains". For exemple the Cloud, we use it globally but less locally and i want to know how it works.

My problem is, i don't know what to choose next. All the IT paths seems really interesting but i thing i have to focus on one particular path to become specialized. All the solutions have their pros and cons and i know that if i choose something i may regret another path. I'm not scared at all to learn new stuff, i like that if i enjoy it. I still believe that you must have skills in the technical part if you want to progress.

I can see the jobs available for me are :

• Local IT
• System and Network engineer
• Project Manager
• WebDev
• DataScientist

Do you have any idea how can you choose a path and really focus on it ? How do you manage when you have choices like this that cannot be changed easyly once done ?

My in-laws come from a nice sized town, but their family still dates/marries pretty much within their church and in their own community. It's not forbidden to date outside of those lines, but people for the most part seem content having it this way.

Over the years I've seen families with children and grandchildren still marrying within this community, so everyone knows everyone's cousin or is twice removed (via inlaw, not blood) from other families if that makes sense. Because the community is only a certain size (don't get me wrong, it's still HUGE), dating options are limited.

Still, people connect and get married (and stay married) quite easily and people are very happy. I wonder if this phenomenon of seemingly stress free (compared to outside the community) dating/connecting is based more on the fact that they search within a community with already a very strong bond (their religion and community), or because of lack of paradox of choice -- i.e. they don't have unlimited options for partners.

Don't get me wrong, these people are generally not "religious freaks" or within a super strict restrictive oppressive community - not even close. They just happily find partners this way.

(I just finally googled the psychological explanation of "psychology of choice" to post it here and a bunch of articles about how it applies to dating popped up - so I won't post links but info is out there -- I knew this wasn't a new idea by far, but it's one I see in the flesh and I do feel it plays a part to some degree. A solution to it? I don't know!).

I love the FIRE movement. Especially because I want to 'retire' from the rat race and then slowly build up long-term projects. I intend to invest about half of my money while leaving half in my business to re-invest.

• 26 years old
• Former EU-Citizen, currently moving out of EU. Will have access to all ETFs in the very near future.
• Aim for very long-term growth

Since I'm relatively young, I want my funds to grow as much as possible as I intent to leave it in there for the rest of my life. 7-8% seem realistic. But if possible, I would aim higher. Assuming a 7% annual average growth, my funds should double every 10 years on average (Rule of 72). Investing for 40 years should therefore be 16x which would be AH-mazing.

My problem: Paradox of choice & unsure if I did it right

Can you please help me simplifying and bringing it down to the essential few?

Now:

VUSA - 40%CSSPX - 10%VWRL - 15%VWCE - 15%AGGH - 10%IWDA - 5%VEUR - 5%

How about:

VUSA - 60%VWRL - 30%AGGH - 10%

Questions:

1. What am I missing?

• 2. Are there any other allocations that would be better suiting my goal?
• 3. Is this too US-heavy?
• 4. What would you do differently?
• 5. Would you change anything once you would have access to the entire market?

Hello everyone. I am excited to start my practice of magic after a lot of research and reading but I am now too overwhelmed and scattered to figure out where to begin. This is what I think should go into prep work for magick, please correct me if I am wrong:

1. Clear, physically declutter, clean and cleanse the space with an associated herb for cleansing
2. Set up a work-space/altar alternative
3. Cleanse and charge the tools I'm working with
4. Thank the energies that helped and participated and put out my candles with my fingers

Am I missing anything? do I need to banish? how do I go about banishing? AND, do I need to rely on GOD/Goddess to practice magic/witchcraft? I am an agnostic and am worried my intent will waver if I have to rely on believing in a god/gooddess. Is this a problem?
