Recipe here originally: Thai Basil Chicken Noodle Bowl
I loooove making Thai basil chicken because of how easy it is to make. You can make it with any meat or plant-based protein and it's super amenable to substitutions.
Pad krapow is stir-fried holy basil in Thai and it is one of the most popular Thai dishes. Pad krapow is prepared with a fragrant, spicy sauce and lots of Thai basil, itβs an easy dish that you definitely want to get into your rotation.
While pad krapow is typically served with rice, this version is turned into an easy chicken noodle bowl recipe.
Protein: In this recipe, you can use really any protein, like chicken, tofu, turkey, seafood, ground beef, or ground pork. You can also use a mix of your favorite veggies. I used chicken tenders that I sent through a food processor to roughly chop it. You can also use thinly sliced chicken thighs or breasts.
Shallot: In place of shallot, use a roughly chopped onion.
Thai Chili Peppers: Use your favorite hot pepper or use crushed red pepper.
Thai Basil Leaves: Thai basil tastes like a cross between Italian basil and mint with undertones of anise or licorice. But, if you canβt find Thai basil, you can use Italian or sweet basil. Of course, you could omit the Thai basil if youβre really in a pinch!
Noodles: Use your favorite noodle or serve with rice or grains.

I'm making Pho tonight, but I couldn't find Thai Basil. Where can I get Thai Basil within a reasonable distance? I don't have a car.
Bought all the ingredients for pho last week (12/29) but was unable to cook it. These ingredients came with Thai basil & cilantro which I popped in the fridge. They still look good right now, but I need them to remain in their current state or not rot until Saturday. Has anyone tried freezing these herbs? Tips on preserving?
I went to a few Asian grocers and somehow (???) none had Thai basil in stock. Iβm making drunken noodles - I have normal basil and also this weird hybrid mint-basil plant growing at home - which do you think would be best to use? A mix of both? Iβve seen some people say to just use 1.5x the recipe of regular sweet basil, but given the mint-basil isnβt very common it seems, Iβm wondering if this could be a decent addition? Itβs more basil-y than minty in my opinion.
Last time I tried to grow Thai Basil it got swamped in spider mites, I'd like to pre-empt it this time round with some companion plants. Preferably something easy for me to grow.
I'd rather not have to spray leafy edibles hence the companion plants.
The yard is rather barren so there's not anything else competing, it'll be grown in a pot anyway as the yards been sprayed with something recently and I'd rather do it potted.
Any other tips for this beginner are greatly appreciated.

The Thai Basil in particular has an ugly leaf on the right, thought about cutting it off but it's pretty young?
