Sex workers have long been disapproved of in Thailand. Now they are calling for their billion-dollar industry to be recognised

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 85%. (I'm a bot)

> Sex workers support charity Service Workers in Group [SWING] helped Dao set up a street food stall, and she still meets the occasional local client.

> "I'd rather work as a sex worker as I did before the pandemic," Dao said.

> Sex workers are unable to access any of the government's unemployment benefits, which were offered to other professions shut down by COVID-19."The experiences of sex workers during this pandemic showed us that this ambiguous status of sex workers obstructs them from getting help from the Thai bureaucracy, from the Thai state," Professor Chalidaporn said.

> "So maybe this is a good time to actually think about this decriminalisation of sex work, because the criminal status of sex work here has hurt so many people in this society for quite some time."They cannot negotiate, they cannot bargain with anyone at all, and they have been exploited by so many groups of people because of the status of sex work as a crime.

> What does the future hold for Thai sex workers?Thirty-six year old Pattaya sex worker Om has moved online.

> "If you are going to talk about sex work you cannot just talk about decriminalisation of sex work itself, or just talk about some groups of sex workers, you have to discuss the root cause of what we call sex outside marriage," she said.

Perception of Thailand and the cannabis industry

With the recent legalization of kratom, this has popped up into my mind, and I want to know what you guys think about this topic. Currently, cannabis is now legal but under strict control of the government, favouring those with power and connections to be able to get into the business. Now, my question is how much will free legalization of cannabis effect the perception of Thailand as a country from foreigners. I am aware there are countries like the Netherlands, which gets a chunk of it's tourists from people wanting to smoke weed, what if Thailand became that? Thailand weed has a good reputation back in the days when it was legal, but my concern is will it get a bad rep? People might perceive Thailand as a less family friendly destination for holidays, or will it overall attract more tourists like the Netherlands did. Legalization of cannabis for exports also increases national income and might help with the recovery of the economy from the current state. If you are against this, I would also like to hear why as well.

if the human brain is just a goopy pile of electric tapioca, why can't we put electricity in it to make it act different?

okay so like. imagine a laser pointer pen, yeah? and imagine it can pinpoint one specific part of the brain. but instead of a laser, it's electricity that's as weak as brain electricity. and imagine someone took that little pen and stimulated a part of the brain that's broken. like. the part of the brain that stores long term memory.

how come doing that wouldn't activate a person's memory?

or like. the part of the brain that controls The Happy. how come we can't put electricity up in that part and cure depression?
