A list of puns related to "Tabloid (newspaper format)"
Iโm making a fake article to insert into my story. Iโve got actual clippings Iโve been looking at, but I canโt quite pin down the format. Not sure if Iโm overthinking it or just not used to that style of writing, but is there a format/guidelines to writing that sort of thing? I know with research papers youโve got Intro, Materials, Purpose, Procedure (probably wrote that in the wrong order, just remember that from a college lab) so Iโm trying to find out if newspaper articles have any similar layout.
Using grammar flair since this is a grammar/format question, yeah?
Does anyone know if there's any place with a large-format (newspaper size) scanner available for use? I was hoping maybe one of the Brevard County libraries would have one, or even in Orange or Volusia County, but wasn't having much luck finding out on Google. Will be making my own calls/inquiries later but just wanted to ask here if anyone knows.
I'd prefer to do it myself, I just need access to a scanner, but if I need to pay a fee/have someone else scan it for me that's okay too, as long as fees aren't outrageous.
Really made me think about DSMP Weeklyโs journey to decline.
Back last year, during December 20th, I had this brilliant idea to make a DSMP Newspaper. So, after a couple memes alluding to the fact and seeing the comments reacting positively to the idea, I decided why not? And went straight into creating an interest and volunteer post. At first, I only had one helper who didnโt really do much, so the first ever post of DSMP weekly can only be called my own product. But at the end of December 28, we had 10 members in a brand new discord and it kept on growing.
You know, that paper used to be the second most upvoted thing, almost over taking Wilburโs DND alignment post. Now, itโs easier to find it pinned on my Reddit account, u/Creator290
Anyways, I had a full on organisation. Iโll thank them all later in this post. But all the volunteers spent valuable time pitching in, in research, writing, editing, graphic design and social media management. At our peak, we had 3 different โpapersโ running at the same time.
But the. A use named u/nut_nut_november____ (having been banned multiple times on Reddit and made many new accounts since) took inspiration and made a headline- not a newspaper, lile a screenshot on TV news kinda thing.
He posted daily, and gets 4-6k upvotes every post, sometimes a bit less at 3k.
whereas we at the DSMPWeekly, as with itโs name, could only post weekly. A paper is much longer to produce and to consume, and everyone had to do their part scouring livestreams for the best hit of content, and we had to organise it all and Ai had to format it all. We also made crosswords, in universe advertisements, and other stuff.
So yeah, we werenโt getting as many upvotes as before. Soon, we found diminishing returns. So, in like Jan/Feb 13 I decided to quit and gave the CEO position to October and Voidexius.
They continued it until like April. Good lads. (Wait. Just checked. Good on you u/mohammedumar1 for keeping it alive)
But they all had to eventually disband, due to school and work and other commitments.
My first newspaper post still has more upvotes than the headlines would ever seem but the daily posting contributed heavily to Novemberโs karma.
And we definitely gained more awards than him per post. The first ever newspaper had over 150 awards.
Iโm pretty sure that we still have more followers than November, because at my peak I had 1.7k and now itโs 1.4K (which is pretty good given that I havenโt po

Iโm finding Mat and Katy very hard to listen to now, very sensationalist and starting a tabloidisation of WTF1. Mat and Katy very much couch critics IMO. Would like to hear suggestions of other nice F1 fan media that is just honest.
The first four parts of this series covered Nottingham Forest, Notts County, Derby County/Leeds United, and Stoke City.
This episode in English Football Drama is going national. After four episodes diving into the circus that is Midlands football, we turn our attentions to England's national football team. This episode will focus on the 21st century up until about the 2010 World Cup, as the 'Golden Generation' of young English talent failed to achieve for country the glories that so many of them achieve for their club. There will be a bigger focus on off-the-pitch stories and tabloid scandals here, although obviously football is central. In the era before the general sanitisation of the English tabloid press, players on the national team were up there with the royal family for gossip reporting and red-top scandals. And scandals they provided.
Background
English football had something of a renaissance in the 1990s. It ceased to be a violence-ridden sport predominantly enjoy by white working class men and became a national game in the true sense.
After the glory of winning the World Cup for the home crowd at Wembley in 1966 against the Germans, England's footballing fortunes took a nosedive. England did not qualify for the 1974 or 1978 World Cups at a time when English clubs were dominant in Europe (all European Cups from 1977-82 were won by English sides, while Leeds would have likely won in 1975 if not for some incredibly suspect refereeing at a time when bribing the officials wasn't unheard of) and the national team stagnated. Performances picked up in the 1980s, but the most notable moment for the national side in this decade was a certain Diego Maradona cementing an increasingly bitter rivalry with the Hand of God in 1986.
Off the pitch, hooliganism, often called the 'English Disease', blighted the reputation of the game at home and abroad. The socially turbulent 1970s-80s created a violent subculture at the underbelly of the sport, arguably fuelled by media sensationalism, and earnt English football supporters a terrible reputation when they supported club or country in European football competitions. The darkest moment came at the 1985 European Cup final when 39 supporters of Italian side Juventus died in a stadium collapse caused when the crowd sought to flee rioting Liverpool supporters. While there were other factors at play, the horrific scene was too much and all English clubs were banned from European football until 1990. England's

Just read a radar online article that quoted the sun (I think) about Pesty โeating alone on Christmasโ (wah wah poor baby ๐๐๐). How do the tabloids get this info? Do they just make it up like oh solitary confinement -> eating alone-> sad headline. Or is someone actually reporting to them?
How dare a tabloid post a story about an engagement in this family without focusing on the convicted sex offender! His siblings are also responsible for his crimes and are never allowed a moments happiness and the media should never let anyone remotely associated with the Duggars ever move on!
My mom has a history of trying to "fix" others by sending them books that she thinks will make them "better" / more like her. Generally speaking, I'm the bridge between her and my siblings, because they find her passive aggressive attempts to control and belittle others as demeaning. While I agree, I also work to install healthy boundaries so that this behavior doesn't needlessly impact my life. My siblings and I are all in our mid 30s now and can limit her less healthy tendencies/toxicity in our lives.
My mother just gifted me a year's subscription to a fringe propaganda magazine known for it's spreading of conspiracy theories, racist rhetoric, and wacky unscientific worldview (everything is a hoax and no one but this magazine is to be trusted). In gifting this to me, she provided my email, cell number, and street address to this company, which has already started spamming me via all of these avenues.
Not only do I not want my kids or neighbors/friends to see this print subscription at my house, but I am disturbed by my mother's intent here. She knows I would find offense in this publication and not read it or support it. Y'all, I try to gift others things they might enjoy--while I CAN believe she would spend well over $100 on this trash-- It is so annoying that she sent it to me rather than just make a donation to the propaganda machine! I don't expect or want ANY gift from my mother and would certainly opt out if possible.
I was the peacemaker between warring family factions during Thanksgiving and am just plain tired of extended family right now...how the heck do I STOP this subscription (I already unsubscribed on email and mobile, but can't figure out how to stop the print version arriving on my doorstep). I also want to tell my mom that I would prefer her to abstain from such gifts in the future (and not give my cell number out). I think this is a healthy boundary she should respect (similar to the healthy boundary I set with her over the summer after she pulled my elementary aged kids aside privately and talked about propaganda/ vaccines / and government conspiracies with them and made them uncomfortable). AITA or should I just shut my mouth and quietly throw the print copy away every week?
