A list of puns related to "Surgical staple"
I'm due to have surgery and they said I'll have surgical staples and my GP will be able to remove them for me. But I need to take the Tube to my GP and won't be able to when I'm isolating after the surgery, I also won't want to go on the rickety Central Line after spinal surgery.
So where else can I go to have the surgical staples removed? Some sort of walk-in centre or minor injuries unit?
I've been told I'll be sent home with replacement dressings and a special tool to remove the surgical staples, my GP can remove them for me after two weeks.
I don't like the sound of that for several reasons:
Anyone got any first hand experience? Hopefully good experiences...
Hi. My son had several pneumos, and VATs pleurodesis and partial lung ressection. He now has permanent surgical staples in his lung. Anybody else with staples and what is your experience? What arevthe long term effect od metal in lungs?
Patient was my father, 70M, 6β, 150 lbs (due to cancer), Caucasian, 3 months into a 4 month sentence of terminal kidney cancer, random meds for nausea, sleep issues, but no cancer treatment.
After a short stay in the hospital for treatment due to low sodium levels, we discovered a surgical staple in his skull. What reasons might the hospital have for doing this? Just curious...Iβve been wondering for about 10 years now.

I have three surgical staples on my head from getting hit in the head by a falling shelf. They are now 9 days in and feel completely fine not much tenderness. just the usual (a staple in the head soreness) I got them done in an emergency room at a hospital about 20 mins away from my place.
When I was finished getting the staples, the doctor gave me the wrapped up, sterilized staple remover to take with me to a walk-in to get them removed. But here is my dilemma. I have called every single walk-in clinic in my area and no one is taking in clients due to COVID-19. I don't own a car and it would cost me $40 to get there and back.
Is it possible if I can ask my partner to take them out for me? I have rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide and pads for cleaning. I really don't want to go to the hospital, wait in an emergency room for 5 hours, waste PPE and doctors time on top of risking my exposure to COVID-19 to get three little staples out. If this pandemic wasn't an issue I would 100% go to a walk-in and get it removed properly.
Would it be ok I removed them at home or should I go to the hospital emergency again?
pic of cut and staples.
So, long story short-ish, I got back surgery a few days ago. After my first surgery, I learned the hard way that my body rejects surgical glue, and steri-strips just don't stick to my skin (those wounds ended up healing "open," and I ultimately got staph.)
I told this to my neurosurgeon, and he suggested staples. Well, this is day 3 out of surgery, and my incision is definitely staying closed! But now there's this bizarre indentation beneath the staples. It almost looks like I have another belly button on my back! I plan to ask my surgeon about it tomorrow, but I was curious if any of you wonderful EDSers have had any experience with this, or if someone knew what's going on!

Thank you so much!
I contracted necrotizing faciitis 18 years ago when I was 6 years old. I received a skin graft to have the infected skin removed. Years later when I was around 17, after a CT scan the doctor told us that some of the surgical staples were still in my chest but that they didn't present any health concerns. With that being said, over the last 2 years or so, I have had intermittent sharp pain near my heart but a little lower where the staples possibly are. The pain flares up for a few seconds and then disappears and then I am short of breath for about a minute. I went to the emergency room last August because the sharp pain had increased in frequency, but the cause wasn't found and I was given some prescription strength ibuprofen and sent on my way. Today, I looked at my health record and saw that the doctors noted that staples were in my left chest, but because of my past medical history. I didn't make the connection today that these staples may be causing this intermittent pain. Is it possible that the staples are actually causing this pain? Keep in mind, the staples were left in my chest when I was 6, and I now 24.
