A list of puns related to "Super Contra"
It's been 8 months of checking off old video game goals that I never accomplished as a kid. Today, I'm a happy guy!
Platform(s): Arcade, typical 2 player arcade machine, 2 sticks and 4-6 buttons.
Genre: Top Down Shooter
Estimated year of release: 1990-2000
**Graphics/art style:**I was told it could be Smash TV it is absolutely not that game. Smash has terrible graphics with bland colors. This game had vivid colors, metallic and dark environment. Actually Platforms. I can say it was detailed like the graphics of Metal Slug but more smooth. Also player character was visible only the head and shoulder just like in gta1 or gta2. Or mission impossible on Nes if you have played that. At least that is how I remember. And it was blue colored soldier I think. I remember one stage only, it was a metal installation, a metal platform. the platform had some empty black areas, it could be the space visible. Imagine the +installation map tileset on original starcraft map editor. But on a top down view.
Notable characters: cannot remember any unfortunately. Just 2 players fighting against enemies and I cannot really remember enemies as well as everything explodes at all times.
Notable gameplay mechanics: I remember only 1 weapon from the game. It was a bright green-yellow-orangish plasma ball that is attacked to your weapon by a plasma chain. And this plasma ball circles around the player character resulting in a fast wide and continuous attack. Every player I have watched would pick this weapon only -from power ups around I think-
Other details: I was probably 10-12 years old. Cadillac and dinosaurs released on arcades in 1993. These 2 games should be around the same age. I am 34 now and this is all I could remember. I have been looking for this game and another one for years now to no avail. Just today I came up with the idea of checking reddit and saw this page. You are my last hope. Thanks in advance.

So I got the Contra collection on Switch. And was surprised that I was actually able to beat Contra (with the help of the Konami code) but I still eat it nontheless and actually was almost decent at it.
Overall I think that what surprisingly works best for the game is the fact that the game is so short. It can apparently be beaten in around fifteen minutes or so (I’m sure speed runners can do it in a fraction of the time) I was also surprised at how mellow? The gameplay felt in comparison to how hardcore I always imagined it. I played with the sound off for a good portion of it (music is good but when you keep dying it’s nice to just listen to background noise to relax your mind and zen out) and it ended up being a surprisingly peaceful experience.
Should I do Super C next? Should I try to do every Contea game? Even Rouge Corps (which is $4 on steam right now if I recall correctly)
Is there actually a storyline or is it just all fluff? What about the PS1/PS2 games? What are the best/worst games?
Is the Konami code just constant though out every game? What’s the pattern with the 30 lives? Is it like 3 continues with 30 lives each per game?
ALL SOLD

I want to say I love the Contra Series and been playing it over 20 years. During this pandemic I want to see how far I can bring my speed run times down. Until recently, I thought I was pretty good at Contra. That is until I saw some crazy Youtube speed runs that left me in the dust.
Anyways, here are two videos of how I played Contra back in the day without Youtube assistance. Now that I have watched a bunch of record breaking speed run videos, I will likely increase my times by heaps, but it feels like I cheated because I am just copying someone else's play style.
Anyways, before I do any other videos using stolen tricks, I wanted to post my own style and play. Not the best of the best, but still pretty good.
Both are failed speed runs, but I did pass the game pretty easy without cheat codes.
I am new at this online video stuff, hats all to you Youtube gamers, talking and playing at the same time is hard!
