After reading an article on Steelers Depot about Edmunds being happy with his production this year, it had me wondering if we should resign him.

Lance Zierlein’s NFL.com prospect synopsis on him is one of the most satisfying and prescient reads in the history of Steeler reach picks history.

How did we make such a pick?

Let us recall that Mike Tomlin had an infamous Waffle House dinner with the Edmunds family. He gushed openly about tiger mom Cookie Edmunds and her boys. I always felt that Tomlin hoped we would have a shot at the linebacker Edmunds the Bills drafted and was so caught up in the Edmunds family vibe he banged the table too hard for Terrell when Trumaine was off the board.

Both brothers played for Virginia Tech, Tomlin’s home roots connection was there and he likely felt a special bond and has additional insider intel from locals and coaches.

Granted, the SPARQ score for Edmunds is extremely high. It’s everything else that is the problem.

How on earth we justified this when his weaknesses were so well documented is baffling. He was a redshirt Junior, something the Steelers value.

Most of these problems exist even after nearly FOUR YEARS of professional football training. Obviously, we declined his fifth year option:to some extent you could argue that was a Covid business decision with the reduced cap.

If we can get him at a reasonable contract… would you want this guy next to Minkah for another four years?

IMO if we had elite corners, I could live with a serviceable SS who didn’t have glaring weaknesses.

So the question is: is the very slight progress he showed this year enough to bang the Waffle House table again for him? Or time to move on?

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
