What would you say went wrong in regards to Rita Ora's music career?
In the early days of her career, she had a lot of hits, especially here in the UK - Hot Right Now, RIP, How We Do (Party). Even the smaller singles from her debut album, such as Shine Ya Light, did well. She also had a fair bit of success with the songs I Will Never Let You Down and Poison.
However, her second album Phoenix felt like a let-down and was nowhere near as successful as her debut era. I do wonder if the 6 year wait in between albums had a role to play - sometimes I wonder if she could've had much more success if it wasn't for the drama that went on following her split with Calvin Harris?
Since the release of Phoenix, she seems to have become an artist who doesn't really make much noise or impact. She released an EP, 'Bang', last year, and it didn't really seem to be a thing anywhere. She's also hopped on a few EDM/dance tracks, which seems to be standard for pop UK female artists these days (see Raye, Becky Hill, Jess Glynne).
I do wonder what could've been, if her music career was handled differently. Would she be a much bigger popstar today as a result? Nowadays, it feels like she is much more of a 'media personality', with her judging roles on shows like The Masked Singer etc.
I can't help but feel that her time as a successful artist has well and truly gone. I can't really see her becoming big again in the pop world. Where do you think it all went wrong, and what would you have done better or liked to have seen from her?
EDIT: the title was meant to say 'where do you think IT went wrong with Rita Ora' - my bad!
