A list of puns related to "Rick Mears"
I found an old Rick Nears patch from 1979. It is a red white and blue patch that references Gould Charge.
Is there a market for this type of thing? I can't find much so I'm not sure if its rare or no one cares :)
If there is a market, what do these go for.
Thanks in advance.
While considering the way "Top 5" finishes influence the championship points run, I was looking at some stats...
Including CART races (because the IndyCar mobile app does, and has most up to date stats, so why not), Scott Dixon has a .509 Top 5 Finishes career average
(160 Top 5s over 314 starts), and he's at .600 for the season.
No one else currently active in the series has a career average that high. Next closest (again, including CART when applicable) are:
Will Power = .458 (90 of 214)
Alexander Rossi = .417 (25 of 60)
Sebastien Bourdais = .393 (78 of 198)
Josef Newgarden = .322 (41 of 127)
also, Helio's average is .405 (141 of 348)
I'm curious, if any of you know, if anyone in the past, besides Rick Mears measured up in this metric? https://www.racing-reference.info/ doesn't show IndyCar Top5 results per driver (or even per season) for non-actives, so I'm trying to avoid digging into years and years of results for this data.
Using http://www.champcarstats.com/ I'm able to compile some numbers and figure these averages, but can't confirm them. (last site update was a couple weeks ago but I assume these numbers to be valid)
Naturally, CART included, still:
Rick Mears .540 (110 of 203)
Mario Andretti .477 (194 of 407)
Dario Franchiti .449 (119 of 265)
Michael Andretti .438 (139 of 317)
Emerson Fittipaldi .430 (84 of 195)
AJ Foyt .403 (149 of 369)
Amazing how close the Unsers were to one another:
Al Unser .436 (140 of 321)
Bobby Unser .434 (112 of 258)
Al Unser Jr. .429 (141 of 329)
In Marshall Pruett's latest podcast episode when he speaks with Mears, there is a point when he is talking about addressing the balance. He says that changing from flush to open wheels. Can someone explain the difference between flush and open wheels (pictures would help) and how that affects balance of a car?
