Itβs an indication that progress is ramping up in the case of Ayla a decade after her disappearance, which is giving her mother, Trista Reynolds, renewed hope.
βIβm actually hoping that this is the year my Christmas wish will come true,β Reynolds said this week.
Ten years ago this month, the 20-month-old blonde-haired, blue-eyed Ayla was in the care of her father, Justin DiPietro, at his motherβs house on Violette Avenue in Waterville. He called police to report her missing on the morning of Dec. 17, 2011, launching the largest and costliest police investigation in Maine history.
Ayla has never been found and no one has been charged in the case. A judge in 2017 declared her dead, paving the way for Trista Reynolds to file a wrongful death lawsuit against DiPietro in December 2018 that contends he should be held accountable for Aylaβs death.

Background: The biggest criminal investigation in state history began with a 911 call in which a father said his 20-month-old daughter was last seen about 10 hours before, gave a brief description of the green pajamas she was wearing and said βthereβs no wayβ she could have crawled out of her crib.
In transcripts obtained Monday first by the Associated Press and then by the Morning Sentinel through the Freedom of Access Act, Justin DiPietro told the emergency dispatcher that he put his daughter Ayla Reynolds to bed at 8 p.m. Dec. 16, 2011, and that his sister checked on her two hours later, at about 10 p.m.
He dialed 911 the next day at 8:49 a.m. During the call, DiPietro is asked when he last saw Ayla.
βWhen I put her to bed last night. My sister checked on her. Um, woke up this morning, went to her room and sheβs not there,β he says. At one point, the phone call ends and DiPietro calls back, explaining βmy cellphone died.β Asked by a dispatcher about the exact time someone last saw Ayla in her crib, DiPietro asks his sister, Elisha.
Um, Elisha, when was the last, when is last time you went in her room last night when you saw her?β DiPietro asks. She responds 10 p.m. and he repeats the time to the dispatcher.

My homegroup didn't shut down during the first wave of the pandemic. One of our members decided to host the meetings at her house when our facility shut down. What ensued was kind of a group conscience nightmare, where GC wasn't being held because none of the members with experience in service were violating gathering restrictions, etc.
It was close to a year that the group operated like that, and I've come to think of it as dead time for Group Conscience. What eventually came to light was that the member who was holding meetings at her house was somehow intentionally not working with our host facility to get the meetings out of her home. It turned out that we could have had our regular meeting place back like three months sooner.
That member resigned her service position in anger, saying that the group was pushing her out and judging her. This lady has a lot of clean time, and it's not the first time she's ended up feeling this way when called on her stuff. It's none of my business, except that our Group Conscience was essentially held hostage by this behavior.
So, fast forward another almost year now. Someone relatively young in service took over this other lady's position of GSR, and what has happened is turning out to be pretty unfortunate. This younger member has been emulating the behavior she saw coming up in 'service' under this other lady who was honestly pretty sick in service. She's making decisions on behalf of the Group Conscience unilaterally, behaving in ways that drag on the atmosphere of recovery in the meetings, gossiping and rallying troops, on and on honestly.
This member seems to have a lot of pride and ego wrapped up in their service position and has said things like, "I turned this group around!" When I raised the idea of the Group Conscience reviewing our guidelines and conducting a GC inventory, she tried to start in on me, too. She started telling other members that I was trying to remove her from her service position, which is absurd. I don't care if she has her service position, but she needs to be reigned in.
How do we address these issues in a Group Conscience meeting and hold someone accountable for acting out in their service position? I don't want to name and shame these behaviors, but I'm having difficulty figuring out how to address them lovingly. If I can't address these defects lovingly in the moment, I should keep my mouth shut, but where does that get us?

The performance via sideloading the current Android release onto CCwGTV is not flawless, but it runs pretty well for now.
