How were Jews who renounced their religion treated in Nazi Germany?

While most of us have at least a cursory understanding of how Jews were treated in Nazi Germany (loss of citizenship, rights, and, of course, the Holocaust) how were those who renounced (or converted) their religion treated? Specifically, what of those who renounced prior to the Nazi's taking power and those who renounced after? Was there any difference at all given Hitler's treatment of Judaism as a race rather than a religion?

If a Jew in Nazi Germany converted to another religion were they free from the hate and oppression directed towards other Jews or did it remain?

You know, did the Nazi's see it as "Once a Jew, always a Jew." much in the same way the British crown sees it was "Once a Catholic, always a Catholic."

Religion doesn’t belong in schools. Period.

The title doesn’t say it all. As a teacher, I’m tired. I’m tired of these prayers the other teachers hold at school. When you don’t show up, you just know they’re thinking crap about you. I’d consider myself a Christian, but I just feel like it’s a cult when it’s approached this way. The prayer circles for our school, gosh blah We had meet me at the pole today and it’s just all too much for me.

I feel the need to rant. Sorry :)

EDIT- they’re not including the students. They just encourage all the teachers to join in. Morning bible studies, etc. this is TX, btw

Does anybody else want to start a "religion", except not a religion, that doesn't believe in invisible guys in the skies, but science, personal rights, knowledge, philosophy, etc.

Except not like the church of scientology. Imagine just getting together once a week with smart people who are tolerant of one another, who believe in science, of the natural laws of the universe.

We could believe that people deserve 100% control over their own bodies. We could use religion to guarantee basic human rights in countries where religion is protected, but women's rights aren't.

If we believe personal choice over oneself (not others, mind you) is of the utmost importance in this life, then abortion should be legal to be practiced in the religion.

Like seriously we could hack the system to be what we want, to protect what we want, to be good to all. No racism, no "my god is better than your god" bullshit, no little rules from a book to tell us who is good and who is bad.

Edit: I don't look down on people who are religious.

I dislike it when people who use their religion to judge, persecute, and diminish others.

I apologize if my post offended you because I didn't make that distinction clear.
