This is a single ticket, you will have to sit next to me. This is completely platonic, I've done this numerous times it's simply to meet, talk to people and hopefully take them to something they'll enjoy and don't normally do. Message me for any questions you have.
im thinking of playing in a concerto competition and i was wondering how hard Beethoven's 4th Piano Concerto is and how the 1st and 3rd movements compare to each other in terms of difficulty. for reference i'm finishing the Waldstein (all mvts) right now but that and Tempest are the only Beethoven I've played before. are there any pieces/etudes that I should go through to prepare or build up technique for the piano concerto?
Hello all,
I do not have any technical training in music and I am just a classical music aficionado. I have been listening to Beethoven's Piano Concerto No.4 and I stumbled across Zimerman's performance - conducted by Bernstein on youtube.
And suddenly, I was hearing a melody that I had not heard before. Not just a single tone, but good chunk of music. Now, I have Gilel's performance on my iTunes - conducted by Szell and towards the end of the first movement, there is distinct difference in notes and tunes (I do not even know if I am using the right words). So, I thought I'll link you guys up.
So my question is - How is it that the performances are so different in the first movement? Didn't Beethoven write specific sheet music? Is this normal?
> Zimerman/Bernstein - (It starts at 14:25mins)
> Gilels/Szell - (It starts at 14:15mins)
What is going on? Why are they so different?
I've never heard another performance where a trill is played before the coda at approx. 7:24. Is this from a specific version? I love it! Here's the performance in question
