A list of puns related to "Paul Kossoff"
Free mostly know for their popular songs like "All right now" but were a gritty seminal blues band of the era drive a young Paul Kossoff shaping their sound. His vibrato is one of the best in the history of rock and roll with Clapton allegedly asking Kossoff about said vibrato when Free and blind faith toured together in 1969. Frees catalog contains alot of great songs that id imagine most none fans havent heard. "fire and water" especially live from the bbc is a classic and good place to start.
"Oh i wept" (which was also featured on the FX show devs) is a very simple but beautiful song with a short subdued solo that really shows off his vibrato and his use of empty space and minimal notes.
Some of other songs to check out are "the stealer" " Mr big" "the worm" ( personal favorite of mine)
Also the singer is the inspiration for the singer of the band "Stillwater" in the Cameron Crowe movie Almost Famous
I think Kossoff is a guitarist that everyone who plays guitar should know and thought id share the love
I cam across this post on IG yesterday. Looks like this collector found Paul Kossoff's (Free) 1955 Black Beauty Les Paul. Another relic off the market.
Paul Kossoff - Free performing "Mr. Big" at the Isle of Wight in 1970.
Kossoff had one of the most recognizable and amazing vibrato technique of any guitarist.
Besides BB King's. I've been struggling with getting clean bends and tremolos for a while, but BB's got thinner strings than I do (I play on 10's now) and the only one where I come close to him is the upper E. I'm trying to pay some songs from Free and Dire Straits by ear and I'd like to get to the level of Paul Kossoff and Mark Knopfler.
I'm ready to put as much practice into it as possible, but my guitar teacher can't help me that much it seems. He tells me to take it slowly from lower BPMs to higher ones which is great advice, but I feel like the movements for different speeds have to be a little different. Advise is also welcome, but some videos of masters doing and explaining this would be perfect.
Thank you!
Edit: I wrote tremolos when I what I meant was vibrato!
Do your worst!
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
