A list of puns related to "Padung (earring)"
Hi all.
My (23F) cousin "Sarah" had a new baby girl not long ago who I didn't get a chance to meet until very recently.
My parents and me went to visit them yesterday, and I wanted to get the baby a present. I was in a rush so I bought a cute pair of earrings which I thought would look nice.
I come from a culture in which every baby girl gets their ears pierced young. It happened to me, it happened to Sarah. I assumed they'd done it for the baby too.
What I didn't know is that Sarah's boyfriend has a very strong anti-piercing opinion, and more surprisingly, Sarah herself has started to agree with him.
She was NOT happy when she saw my present. She asked me what I was thinking and said I "should've known" that they weren't going to pierce the baby. Well actually I didn't, because they never mentioned. I just assumed she was going to do what everyone in our family does.
Even my parents sided with them. My parents who pierced me and my younger sister, but said my choice of gift was "insensitive".
I think this whole thing is silly. I get that people have different opinions. I'm not even 100% sure I'd pierce a kid myself if I ever have one. But even if I didn't, I wouldn't get offended if someone gave us earrings as a present. It would be something nice to keep for later. I wasn't trying to cause trouble. I assumed they'd done it, and I thought earrings would be a lovely gift.
AITA?
A buck an ear
I (28F) found a small hoop earring in my apartment with my (28M) fiancΓ©. I confronted him about the earring and he stated that he had never seen it before, nor did he know who it belonged to. I have never had any doubts about his loyalty or any thought that someone was in our apartment without me here. But recently I asked where the earring was and he said he threw it out, should I be concerned that he threw out the earring? Should I be questioning him more?
