I want to start this post off by saying I would never, in a million years go out of my way to start a Reddit thread about a negative experience I had with an employer - but seeing as Otter PR and its founders are committed to screwing over both their clients and employees, I see no other option. About two months ago, I left an honest review about my experiences at Otter Public Relations on GlassDoor but was shocked to have found the review removed and replaced with a plethora of fake reviews. I know when I was trying to do research on Otter, I couldn't find anything to confirm my suspicions, so my hope is that this post will help someone who maybe finds themselves in a similar position and can't trust online reviews. My first red flag should have been when the director of communications, Colleen, was completely unaware of my scheduled interview with her. I was frantically emailing her, thinking I blew my shot at an interview. Meanwhile, she was out of the country.
My interview with Colleen was stale, quick, and did not seem as thorough as my past interviews. She asked if I liked PR, what I liked about it and what my skillset included. After that, I heard back from the "HR" department (they don't have one, it's run by JazzHR), who requested a follow-up interview with one of the founders and the completion of a writing assessment.
My follow-up interview was with Scott Bartnick, who has the pe
