A list of puns related to "Ombudsman"
I filed N400 on April 2020th in NYC and still waiting for interview. Iโve spoken with my lawyer and tomorrow we will file with Ombudsmanโฆ Whatโs is your experience ?
Thank you
G'day all, just a quick public service announcement with a little story.
I recently did a short term contact (2 weeks) through a recruiter.
The job was frankly shit, and by the end of it the recruiter, my manager and I weren't on speaking terms after I had requested all communication to be in email.
So what's the big deal, shit jobs come and go right?
Well, my manager didn't approve my timesheet, meaning I wouldn't get paid.
I reached out to the recruiter, but didn't hear anything back.
I then got in contact with someone else at the company, who told me that there was nothing they could do, I was just out of luck.
I was then ignored for over a week, no response to emails, text messages, nothing.
At this point I already had a new job lined up, but I did some research and stumbled across the Fair Work Ombudsman.
I gave them a call, and although I was on hold for a while, the dude I eventually got through to was super helpful.
Helped me find the award I was under for that contract, walked me through my rights, and emailed me a template full of fancy jargon I didn't really understand to send though to my now previous employer. I then sent the email.
After over a week of no contact, a few hours later I received an email from them saying that they didn't appreciate being threatened, and I replied that my email wasn't a threat, but an acknowledgement of their obligations.
An hour after that, suddenly my timesheet was approved, and I'm getting paid tonight, which means I'm shouting my roomates pizza.
So remember to talk with the Ombudsman (or as I've taken to calling them, the referees of capitalism), be it Fair Work, telecommunications, etc.
Hey guys just wanted to give you guys an update on my DACA renewal status. Just to give a little background, I got a mechanical engineering degree from sf state a couple years ago and I've been working as a project engineer in waste water. I grew up and live in the bay area. Last year my DACA expiration was coming up in September. At the time I was in Texas working and I always use this immigration law firm to file my paperwork. Last year we submitted all of my renewal stuff in march, In April I received a reuse of biometrics, and shortly I received a receipt that my case was being reviewed.
fast forward to july - I got that extension letter and I blindly just forwarded it to the law firm to see if the extension applied to me, to which they said yes (stupid on my part for not double checking)
fast forward to September, and I get a call from my brother, who also has DACA and also works in the same industry. He asked me about the extension letter and I told him it applied to us. He had summited his renewal kind of late and was super stressed- to which I told him not to worry because the extension applied to us. later his HR tells him that it doesn't - and he gets put on unpaid leave. A week later my my stuff was going to lapse so I had to tell my company I could no longer work for them after my ead expired and I get terminated.
At this point my application goes to California even through it goes to Nebraska every year. My brothers went to Nebraska and gets processed almost two weeks after he was put on unpaid leave.
With no job I go back and forth with my immigration lawyer and she says to be patient, that my case should come in, but that she would want an extra fee to submit an ombudsman request. At that point
I just do it myself, along with asking senator Alex Padilla and congresswoman Barbara Lee for case assistance. I also submitted my out of processing time inquiries (3 of them).
Fast forward to yesterday, I get a response from the ombudsman inquiry that I submitted October saying that my application was checked as an initial application and not a renewal, and they recognized it was a mistake and are now sending my case back to Nebraska (God bless the ombudsman!) Anyways my application had been sitting and if I had not contacted the ombudsman the agents I kept on calling for the inquiries would have said the same thing, which was basically to just wait. so now I'm going into my 5 month of not being able to work because I relied so much on
... keep reading on reddit โกAs some of us have noticed, either IBKR or Hargreaves Lansdown have been dragging out the transfer process since Dec. Previously, a position transfer between HL and IBKR would take 10 days precisely.
Frankly, I'm fed up chasing up with both of them and not getting any response for days.
This is clearly in violation of FCA rules layed out in FCA Policy Statement PS19/29.
My question: if you file a formal complaint with the Financial Ombudsman Service, is it likely to get your IBKR/HL accounts closed? FOS would effectively disclose the claimant's person, right?
edit: transfer rejected altogether, see my other thread https://www.reddit.com/r/Superstonk/comments/rvvki1/hl_ibkr_now_failing_transfers_transferred/
edit 2: it seems that IBKR has marked my transfer as rejected preemptively because HL is dragging their feet but it might go through after all. So 6 weeks rather than 10 days seems more accurate. So much for "best broker in the UK".
UPDATE: First, I want to thank everyone for their advice and for talking me off a rage cliff. It was very much appreciated!
I took the advice of everyone here and called back this morning right at 8am. I did have to call them twice because the first time I was disconnected when transferred to a PSLF customer service representative (because of course!). But, eventually I did reach a PSLF rep who pulled up my forms and confirmed all of my information was there and she was unsure why my certifications were rejected.
She then transferred me to a specialist who pushed my certs forward. So, now it looks like everything is moving again and hopefully some day in the glorious future my loans will be transferred from Nelnet to Fedloan and I will eventually receive loan forgiveness.
As an FYI, calling in at 8am, this process took about 35 minutes on the phone, so thank you for the suggestion of calling first thing in the morning. Again, I appreciate everyoneโs help and hope we all get our official loan forgiveness letter soon!

ORIGINAL POST:
Sorry, yโall. Iโm venting due to frustration.
I faxed and mailed my PSLF certifications on November 4, 2021. I filled out everything completely, including the EIN and answered question 9 indicating that my employer (for both certifications) was the federal government. According the PSLF application, if your employer is the government, you skip to section 4 and do not answer questions 10-12.
Well today, nearly two months after mailing and faxing my applications, I received a letter stating my applications did not include my employer EIN and that I did not answer questions 9-12. All of this is completely false. Like, just 100% wrong. There are no scratch-outs, nothing illegible, the information is all there. But, apparently Fedloan cannot read the form or follow the directions on the form regarding questions 9-12, so Iโm out of luck.
Iโve filed a complaint with the ombudsman. Iโll give it a month and see how it shakes out. But, looks like Iโll have to get my employer to complete new forms again and resubmit the forms again. It was so hard doing this the first time as my old employer, who covered most of my dates, is working from home without a printer or scanner. So I had to mail him the form (with a self-addressed stamped envelope to return the form back) and then pester him to complete it and then pester him again to mail it back to me.
I donโt know why this has to be so difficult, but I just feel defe
... keep reading on reddit โกHi All,
I have worked for NSW Healthcare for the past 2 years when I lost my job when covid started. Initially, I was casual, and eventually, I was given permanent part-time. A few months ago, I found a job full-time job in my field. I enjoyed working in hospitals so I did not want to quit. I requested my manager if I can reduce my work hours and keep me as permanent part-time (20 hours a week is required and guaranteed) to which he agreed. My manager quit and my supervisor took over as the manager.
My payslips still state that Iโm a part-time employee but I barely get any hours anymore. When I asked my manager about this, he told me he has turned my role into casual. Since then, I worked a few shifts but I never received any additional casual loading (casual loading is 25% more). I barely get any shifts, just 1 shift in the last 2 months. Even when I gave them my full availability (Monday to Sunday during my 3 week holiday), I never got any shifts. When I tried to ask my manager about this, he just told me Iโm a casual employee and I should not expect anything. I then asked him why I never received any casual loading for the last few months. He never responded. I tried to contact him several times but no response. If I am still a part-time employee, I am entitled to at least 20 hours of work every week. If I am a casual employee, I should at least get the additional money.
Hi all - this is actually me asking on behalf of a friend.
She's really struggling to figure out what her next move could be having become really comfortable working as an ombudsman and complaint handling for the past 5/6 years now (mainly things like PPI and lending complaints). She's been contracting via an umbrella company for a number of years now but there is no progression with this and no way to really increase her salary. Feels a bit stuck!
Just wondering if there were others out there who have been in this situation or even worked in a similar field/role who have moved on so she could get an idea of what she could even look into!
Any advice greatly appreciated
In April 2019 my life got turned upside down and I could not make my regular monthly payments to natwest. I phoned them immediately and wanted to negotiate 2 loans being a lower rate for a longer length of time. They said no, go to stepchange.
Find absolutely so I missed 1 payment 1st May whilst stepchange were agreeing with natwest and setting up a payment plan. First payment went out 1st June 2019 to step change then went to natwest.
1 payment was missed in the entirety of this debt existing but I understand paying a lower amount via stepchange also looks bad. (Please note 2 loans, payments went out 1st of the month)
I have defaults showing for April 2019. (Completely agree with this)
In May 2020 natwest sold my debts to someone else and defaulted me again (no paper work to say I'm getting defaulted again, it came up on a credit score check)
So 2 defaults on the same debt. So I complained to natwest and said "hang on why have you defaulted me a second time, a year after the original default". They came back to me and said "we were wrong, the correct date for the default is July 2019 we will now add this to your credit score"
I then recomplained and said " no you have already defaulted my in April 2019 and then added an extra default. You agree the extra default shouldn't be there so delete it rather than adjust it"
Natwest have now come back and said "you have advised us that you are not happy and believe the default date should be April 2019. I can confirm July is correct. We would apply a default per loan."
Then it says if your not happy go to the ombudsman.
Basically I have 4 defaults instead of 2. Showing as April and July 2019.
What should I do? Go to the ombudsman? Drop it? I'm desperately trying to get a mortgage in 2022 and improve my credit score
