She is breaking glasses while trying to help the kitchen staff, and you can tell they're frustrated but she is just trying to help! We also see Noelle, and how close she and her mother are. Sheree heads out on a date with a guy who brings her flowers, which she complains are Kroger-esque. Nene has her son, Bryce, come home, asking to move back in after getting into trouble by walking into jail to visit his friend, but somehow forgot her had weed in his pocket? Who forgets they have weed on them? Nene is upset as she doesn't want to support him doing these "stupid things and sitting back and letting him do them", but also feels the obligation of being a mother and taking him back in and keeping him safe. Everyone convenes at Supper Club for a performance by Kandi, and Phaedra "I represented Bobby Brown 20 years ago" Parks, wants Dwight and Nene to reconnect, and the two actually have a rational conversation and settle their differences. Hi! I'm an experienced one-bag traveler but I'm not a trekker or adventurer. I've always traveled with one roller suitcase but recently decided I hate it and would like to use a backpack instead. (Everyone in my family know I using baking as a method to lessen my anxiety so I prefer to do it alone) Then her hell-spawn came in as I was putting the last cake that needed made that night in the oven. I asked them to not run or bounce as it would ruin the cake. They once again went crying to their mother who yelled at me to stop picking on her kids and that they could run if they wanted. I tried to explain that then running would mess up the cake while it was baking. She said it was a myth and that I was acting like a bratty diva. The cake was ruined but I said fuck it if they wanted the cake they can go buy one. My dad put the turkey in the oven early this morning and told everyone to not mess with it then ran to the store to get more potatoes. My aunt turned the oven off while he was gone, no one noticed until a couple hours later. She had ruined the turkey, the pies and the cake. She then tried to blame it on me. This is when my parents told her to get her and her families stuff and leave. She managed to ruin our thanksgiving dinner and doesn’t believe she did anything wrong.

So this is about the third post I am making on here about playing some chess. I always have people commenting that they're down but no one seems to come through. I have been going to chess clubs at cafes and bars in manhattan and brooklyn but cant seem to find anything in queens. I want to get something started where some of us can meet up and play chess. I was hoping that it could be an all skills welcomed thing and create a similar community I have seen in manhattan and brooklyn. I would love to organize something like this however it could never happen if people keep flaking.

I hate this. Why do we do this in New Zealand? WHY.

This right here is more money than I would spend clothing this child for an entire year (and that would include getting her 'cool' things like dinosaur jammies and character outfits).

Last year as a noob parent to the primary school scene, I had no idea how much uniform to buy and how much it would end up costing.

Literally saw a social media post by some parents on the Shore who said they buy 5 pieces of each (one for each day. Seems reasonable - the kids are filthy enough as it is now that their clothes are rarely clean enough to wear again another day without a wash). Saw another who said they buy 6! One for each day and a spare in case they don't get to the washing on the weekend - which, is brilliant and I am jealous. But also literally cannot afford that.

And neither can any of the families around me in South Auckland. It's madness.

Last year I settled on buying 3 shirts, 3 shorts, 1 jumper, 2 hats ( I have a permanent weekly alarm set to remind me to wash uniform every Wednesday night so I have enough for the week). Buying those 'not-enough-for-a-full-week' items still costed hundreds of dollars. When I was paying for the uniforms, the checkout clerk at The Warehouse was lovely and sympathetically said "oof. Three kids at primary at the same time? That's expensive" and I was so stunned I took too long to respond. I realised that for this area, most kids have one full uniform (one shirt and one shorts/culottes), and there are still a few who are known to share uniform pieces and alternate which days they attend school (no uniform = no school).

I should add that I won't be buying this cart. I will have to get two of the polo shirts (that'll put me back $50), and I'm trying to find more secondhand culottes (Miss Almost 5 is prone to accidents and will need spare with her at school for sure, two will not be enough for 5 days of school a week). But one pair of girls size 4 culottes is $47. The fleece jumper is $47. That is so much more money than I ever spend on a single item of clothes to fit a four year old.

Why not, and hear me out here, we just let children wear their own clothes?!

Alright, so we have three vehicles at home. My wife’s old car and then our two newer SUVs which my wife and I use to get to work. Both of our kids have their driver’s license now. My daughter got hers a year earlier and pretty much had the car carte blanche until her brother got his. She’s a social butterfly and some of her friends don’t have cars so she would be the one driving her friends to places to hang out after school. Problem comes that now that my son has his license, he needs the car as well.

He takes some college courses at the U and is also the leader of the debate team. It was somewhat hectic to make sure he got to all his activities before but me and his mom managed between our work schedules. However, now that he can drive and we have a car at home, it makes sense to let him use it to get to all his activities. My daughter is mad because she can no longer use the car during the weekdays like she used and can’t hang out with her friends as much. She accused us of favoring him over her. I explained to her that academic activities will always take precedence and that if she also needed the car for academic extracurriculars that would be a different thing. AITA?

Edit: We are not looking to buy a fourth car either - ridiculous suggestion. To clarify, before he had the car, all his extracurriculars were after school at his high school. Now that he is a junior, he started his extra coding classes at the community college and college course credits at the University so his mom and I figuring something out between work when we stressful work full time jobs is no longer an option with all his new activities. We cannot split the car time because his classes are every single day and the locations for all of them are not close together. My daughter does not want to and cannot drop and pick him up from place to place and hang out with her friends in the little time between.

Mainly been a PC gamer for better part of 2 decades and consoles before that. Tried to get my wife into gaming but she wasn't showing interest. Then I stumbled on Wheaton's tabletop in 2016 and my wife and I were blown away at what board games had become outside of Risk/Monopoly/Clue. More importantly finally I could "game" with my wife.

We mostly play at 2p, once in a while we'd have another couple that enjoyed some get togethers from time to time. So majority of our collection is geared towards playing with 2 as an option. Most purchases have been made when it was on a sale usually found on bgg's hotdeals forum.

Every game has a custom insert either foam core or 3D printed, which I just started this past year slowly replacing some of the foam core ones. A large portion of our games have all expansions combined in one box to clear up space. Nearly every game has seen at least one play, with exception Pillars of Eternity which I got in an auction for $7 still in shrink. Every game that has miniatures is painted, with the exception of Sabotage. I've always loved deluxe versions or ways to spruce up something, whether it be stickers or printed pieces or decals, of course that comes with sleeving cards.

The only thing I'd change about our collection is getting rid of some of these earlier titles we got when we first started out, like Munchkin and maybe a few other titles that overlap too much like 7 wonders duel (Unforgiven has replaced that for us), one of the Clanks, Brass Lancashire, and the original Pandemic.

For my top 5 I'd say Gloomhaven is probably #1. We logged 80+ plays on that, definitely got my $90 worth out of. Then in no particular order Brass Birmingham, Through the Ages, Lisboa, Deep Madness.

My wife's favorites are currently Obsession, Everdell, and Quacks of Quedlinburg and Firefly.

I will concede that I very well could be engaging in the "guilt by association" fallacy. Jimmy Snow recently had a video about Kaitlin Bennett (Gun Girl) and she claimed she used to be an atheist. Now, Gun Girl is a fucking liar who will misrepresent what happens to and around her even tho all her encounters are on camera and we can see what happened. Therefore, I don't believe a goddamn thing said by her specifically.

This is not an uncommon thread from Christians, however. Whenever I encounter a believer who has this backstory, as nicely as possible, I'll ask them how their atheism manifested and what that meant to them. I think that's a reasonable question? I'm just like "what did that term mean to you?" Sadly, more often than not, they'll get mad. I suspect it's because they're not used to follow-up questions about this. Likely because they are used to telling this to believers who won't ask a follow-up question because they had their worldview affirmed. So, no need to continue. Me, on the other hand, I wanna know about people and hear about their experiences. I will then ask questions in a polite way.

I see in comment threads, on FB posts, and have heard irl in Christian testimonies the line about how they used to "mock Christians" before they found Jesus. Now, my perspective is largely colored by my experiences. There certainly are cringe af atheists out there who will mock Christians entirely unprovoked. Don't do that. It isn't cool. It's very reminiscent of the "I'm an atheist, debate me" meme. But, the majority of my social circle skews overwhelmingly secular. They are all kind and wonderful people. Some of the nicest folks I have ever met in my entire life. Yesterday, I went to lunch with some of them and one invited a friend of his to come. This friend was a believer and he felt very welcomed by the table full of secular peeps. Which was wonderful. I have seen stories from Christians who say atheist/secular folks were nicer than the people in their church and hearing that makes me feel good.

This is gonna be a bit of a read but here goes. My mom has a tendency of asking me for money, not just $20, $50 or $100 she asks me for big sums like $500 or $1000. About 2 weeks ago I lent her $2000 and she told me if I lent it to her she would pay me interest in it. Her being my mother and I love her, I told her she can borrow it and can pay me back in a few months or whenever she has the money, I told her no interest as that is wrong and I am her son. Anyways, i lent her the $2000 and today she texted me that she needs $1000 because she paid for some random BS and that if she can borrow another $1000. I have plenty of savings. At the moment I have more than $30k in savings and she knows about it. I am 23 and she always tells me someone my age shouldn’t have that much in savings. I invest in stocks and I get paid dividends which is where most of that money comes from. The moment my mother found out I have such savings she hasn’t stopped asking me for money. Before she found out she would always ask me to lend her $100 or $200 and she would always pay me back a couple months later. I already lent her $2000 2 weeks ago and now she wants another $1000 through text. She doesn’t even ask me in person it’s always through text. I left her message on read. I am not wanting to giver her the money. Last time I denied her money she claimed I was selfish and being an ungrateful son. I have come to find out she speaks Ill of me behind my back and my older brother told me once she kept talking trash about me when I didn’t want to lend her money. This is not a sob story or anything, but both my parents passed away recently and I have no close family or anyone to turn to for advice. My father passed away from cancer three years ago, and my mother passed away this year from covid complications.

I have no real financial literacy, my college degree was in physics and I was working for a university lab making 43k/year in Western New York but I quit after my mother passed away. I am still reeling from the impact of losing both my parents so close together and figured that I need time to figure things out and try to get a grip on reality again.

My parents were small business owners who invested in real estate throughout their lives. They retired 8 years ago and sold their business, and invested that money into real estate as well.

Currently in my name there are 7 properties

3 houses in Buffalo, New York, valued at around 100,000 to 150,000 each

4 properties in New York City, two in Queens and two in Manhattan, valued around 1.2 million each one (averaging)

The three houses in Buffalo are in my name, and the 4 NYC properties are under an S-Corporation because their business (the land they owned was under the corporation) was 1031 exchanged into these 4 properties. How I understand it is that if I sell any of these properties, they will be taxed as income and thus heavily taxed (as opposed to normal real estate inheritance where there is a step up in value and thus no capital gains tax is paid upon sale by the inheritor). All the properties collect about 27,000 per month, but the HOA fees and taxes are heavy so net income is about 12,000 per month.

I sort of don't know what to do and my head is spinning. During and after college I helped my parents with their tenants so I know how to deal with that (for example I would call the handy men, get appliances replaced when needed, etc), but I have no real overall strategy of what to do. My parents were Eastern European immigrants who were not very educated by modern American standards or financially savvy, so all they did was buy real estate when they could afford it and finally with a 1031 exchange of their business which was in an area which had become popular.

Does anyone know what I should do, or how to proceed? I know I am lucky, financially, to have been given this kind of inheritance and really it is a gift, and I would like to begin to learn how to use it properly. Thank you.

Good employees are hard to find.

When I first started researching earlier this year I’d come to this sub and search for reviews for a Manhattan school (RG, MGA, Unity etc). Most advice were for more advanced folks by advanced folks. I felt most of the perspectives wasn't from someone with no priors. This is to share a naive but honest first-timer-to-BJJ school review. Hopefully this is of use to someone who was in my shoes searching in the future.

I ended up taking a bunch of trial classes at a bunch of gyms but will focus on just talking about the big ones.

TL;DR - I ended up training at RG because they fit my schedule and closest to where I lived. RG for options, MGA seems better for a complete beginner and Unity for the vibes.

Unity

This was one of the first gyms I tried ever for BJJ. You take a mini intro class with fellow first timers, then you have the option to participate in a regular session immediately after.

What made Unity so different was it was a mixed class of skill levels and it also seemed to have gi and no gi in the class I joined. This meant in my first ever class I was somehow ""rolling"" (me insta tapping) with blue and purple belts. Despite the skill difference they were super gracious and encouraging. I remember not wanting to waste their time but they insisted on helping me.

I really liked the people and energy here but as a beginner I felt like its not the place to start. The instructor showed a move and myself and the other first timers were completely dumbfounded. He made us practice something simpler instead that class. Some people can likely make it work but I personally needed more structure and it was the furthest away commute-wise for me.

Biggest con is the locker room was small and in terrible shape. Super cramped and dirty.

MGA

Out of the three, it felt the calmest. Whereas the other two felt more chaotic and wild (IMO), MGA felt more collected. It had the smallest class size which was also a plus. From a beginner’s stand point I think they did the best for fundamentals. The other two had an “intro” class before their regular “beginner” class where they teach you to break fall, hip escape etc. However in class it was just warmups and was whatever. When I did my trial class at MGA the instructor really paid attention to how I did it and corrected me. At least for the class I attended the rolling was less compared to other schools.

10. Boomer Esiason, Super Bowl XXIII (Cincinnati Bengals)

Boomer Esiason was a native of the town of East Islip on Long Island, and he played college football at Maryland, leading them to an ACC title his senior year. The Bengals made him a second round pick in the 1984 draft. Esiason started four games his rookie year behind Ken Anderson and went 3-1. For his part, Esiason threw for 3500 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. The Bengals stormed to a 12-4 record and took the top seed in the AFC. For leading the best offense in the NFL that year, Esiason was named the 1988 league MVP. They scored wins over the Seahawks and Jim Kelly’s Bills to reach Super Bowl XXIII, where they faced Joe Montana and the 49ers for a rematch of Super Bowl XVI. Despite being the most electric team in the league that year, the Bengals would not be able to topple the dynasty, although they almost pulled it off. Esiason had the Bengals clinging to a 16-13 lead with 3:10 to go, but Montana executed a 92 yard drive that ended with a 10 yard touchdown pass to John Taylor with 34 seconds left, launching the 49ers to a 20-16 win and leaving the Bengals disappointed yet again.

Esiason would play 4 more seasons with the Bengals following his Super Bowl appearance, but never experienced the same success he had in 1988. Esiason helped them reach the playoffs one final time in 1990 after a season where he threw for 3000 yards and 24 touchdowns, but also led the league in interceptions with 22. My husband is a book reader and has been super interested in hearing all my theories and thoughts about the show so I thought I'd summarize some here in case anyone else is interested:

• Rand is pretty obviously the dragon because he's the only one of the four without like "a thing" at this point. Perrin has the wolf thing, Egwene has the channeling, Mat has the cursed dagger and Rand doesn't really have anything atm, which makes me think he's definitely going to be revealed as the dragon. They really want us to stay guessing at who it is but I think it's definitely Rand. He was also the only one who had a different bat dream in episode two and he broke down the door in episode three I think by magic.
• Liandrin is a little bit of a mystery to me right now but overall I don't think she's evil/working for the dark one. I think she's meant to be an antagonist to Moiraine, but I think she's going to just be there to show the politics and maybe unfriendly nature of some of the Aes Sedai but ultimately I think she's a good guy.
• The White Cloaks guy Valda can channel I think. I just don't see how an Aes Sedai can take on an entire army by herself, but this dude and his very small camp of guys can take on seven Aes Sedai and their warders without so much as a scratch on him unless he was magical. I'm wondering if the madness that men have when they're magic is like making him more powerful than the Aes Sedai and telling him to kill them? Idk. He knew for sure that Egwene could channel, and I don't see how he could do that without being touched by magic himself.
• Aram is a not what he seems. I think he's working for the dark one or the white cloaks.
• I do think episode five was huge foreshadowing that Moiraine is going to die, but I think now that she'll die in the middle of season two, instead of at the end of season one. Poor Lan :( I really hope he doesn't commit suicide like Stepin, but I also think it would be super weird to see him as someone else's warder.
• Egwene will become a novice with Nynaeve when she gets to the tower, which hopefully will happen in the next episode. I think it'll be interesting to see how their relationship changes when they're no longer master/apprentice and are instead of relatively equal footing both being novices. Egwene still thinks Nynaeve is dead, so I'm looking forward to their hopefully happy reunion. Interested to eventually see if Egwene chooses Perrin as her warder, which was what Valda thought he was anyway in ep

So SD8 stole well over 200 from me in September. At the time, I thought things were going well. She would have frequent sleep overs with my neice who is similar in age, they go to the same school, and are best friends. One morning during said sleep over, I was getting up to get us some starbucks when I reached into my purse and realized I had 0 cash in my purse and SO had just given me some money to pay the bills. (Backstory- SD had stolen 5 from my car before and air pods from her mom's sister before) I look EVERYWHERE before I listen to my SO, who wanted to look at his daughter from the jump. We go into her room and make her wait in the living room with my niece and her brother, and theres my money- in a broken safe her dad had given her. The number pad didn't work but you still needed a key to get in. She said she didnt know where the key was but I found it pretty fast in the Jewelry box I had gotten her one day.

Needless to say, everyone was mad at SD that day. I don't know everything my SO did to SD because I left with my niece to drop her off. I just know I came back to her crying hysterically and SS telling me we needed to throw away all her toys. My SO got rid of everything. We donated what we could, SS kept things he wanted and everything else was placed on our sidewalk. After she left that night to go see what her mom had in store for her, I got into it with my SO and said she needed help

From my previous posts, it hasnt happened yet. Ive pushed but she doesnt have an appointment until January. Since the incident shes been a ton better with me. No attitude, no talking back. She has daily chores at our house and she does them with no arguing. She still has her attitude with her dad and brother every once and a while but shes 8 going on 13. Its expected. One of them is the diminishing returns on high upvote counts. It's estimated that 20,000 upvotes actually gets you under 6,000 karma. No one knows the exact numbers, and Reddit intends on keeping it that way.

Futhermore, this sub has its own rules when it comes to distribution. So only the first 1,000 karma counts towards moon, in your 20,000 upvoted post.

8- Myth: "You get 20% more moons, if you hodl all your moons".

Truth: You get 20% more KARMA, based only on what you held from the last distribution. But since it's karma and not Moons, and the amount of Moons distributed is already pre-determined, that karma is proportional. The more people qualify for the bonus the less it makes a difference.

While you might not get much more if almost everyone gets the bonus, you will definitely get less if you don't get the bonus.

This is my first time posting on this subreddit so I really hope you guys can help me… I work in a small fast-food franchise where everyone in the store is either fresh out of, or about to graduate from, high school. I realize that typical work place “professionalism” is not realistic in this kind of environment, and I don’t expect it since I regularly mess around with my coworkers too (though NEVER like what happened to me). Anyways onto the problem!

Our restaurant is so small it only has 2 single-stall bathrooms: 1 for women, and 1 for men. Recently, my female coworkers discovered that the women’s restroom can be easily picklocked by twisting the lock around with your fingernails. As far as I’m aware, before my incident this “trick” has been used only A) to get people out of the bathroom if they are trying to hide during shift, or B) if someone has their headphones on while they’re cleaning and can’t hear if everyone is calling them.

Last night I (19F) had finished cooking several large orders and told the crew that I was going to use the bathroom and would be right back. I was in the bathroom for less than 2 minutes, which I know for sure since I have a watch. Apparently while I was in the bathroom, a customer came inside and was angry because I had forgotten to put bacon on their burger. Because of that, they were being rude to one of my coworkers (16F). She wanted to ask me if I had made the order correctly, and felt that couldn’t wait until after I’d finished in the bathroom. My coworker, who I’ll just call “CW”, called my name twice. Both times I answered but I guess she didn’t hear me because I heard her walk to the bathroom door and knock. Again I answered and said “Yes?”. Then I heard her messing with the doorknob and, to my horror, she unlocked the door, opened it, and stood in the doorway backwards. The conversation went as follows:

CW: Opens door and stands in doorway

Me: “Oh my GOSH- COWORKER’S NAME!”

CW: “It’s ok my back is turned so I can’t see!”

Me: “I don’t care- get out!”

CW: “I just need to know if you added bacon to that burger you made”
