A list of puns related to "Neve Campbell"
I understand this film was about passing the torch but Sydney wasn't even a strong supporting role, she was barely in the movie and when she does show up, she doesn't do much. Most of her scenes involve her being stuck with Gale.
I missed Sydney being chased after Ghostface, I missed her going bad ass, I missed seeing her struggle. Here she's too passive. I don't think she even screamed.
I was expecting what Jamie Lee Curtis got in the Halloween reboot and instead, Sydney was an afterthought. She deserved better.
If Sam had been a proper lead, then I probably wouldn't have cared so much, but she's such a bland heroine, I kept waiting for Sydney to show up.
Neve Campbell admits she wasn’t too sure about signing on for the new “Scream,” the fifth installment of the horror franchise, because she couldn’t imagine doing it after the death of Wes Craven.
But 25 years after the first film was released, directors Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin were able to convince not only her, but fellow legacy cast members David Arquette and Courteney Cox, to return to Woodsboro.
“Wes was brilliant and the reason this is such a successful franchise. I really didn’t know whether anyone would be able to pull this off, get the tone right, get the humor, get the cleverness,” Campbell told me just days after the movie’s bonanza opening weekend. “And then Matt and Tyler wrote me a letter and expressed to me that the very reason they became filmmakers was because of Wes Craven and that their movie ‘Ready or Not’ was based on the tone of ‘Scream.’ They expressed to me how much it meant to them to be making this film, and that they couldn’t believe they were actually getting the opportunity to even write me this letter. They really wanted to do right by Wes and honor his legacy. I think if they hadn’t written that letter, I wouldn’t have done it.”
Below, Campbell discusses the movie’s shocking twist and its many Easter eggs.
When you were reading the script, were you able to figure out who the killers were?
I knew they’d done a good job, because I hadn’t figured it out.
One of my favorite lines in the movie is when Dewey asks you if you have a gun and you say, “I’m Sidney fucking Prescott. Of course I have a gun.”
That was not in the script. The version that I had read, Dewey does ask, “Do you have a gun?” And I say, “Yes.” And then he carries on with something else. But I thought that’s not enough because, of course, she would have one. I remember writing that line.
We have to talk about Dewey getting killed.
I was devastated. I still have trouble wrapping my head around it. I still question whether it was the right choice, because from what I’m hearing, there are a lot of fans who are really upset.
Did you, David and Courteney talk about it beforehand?
We did. We were were sad about it. Courteney had tried to tell the directors to shoot it both ways to give themselves the option because Wes would do that sometimes when there were certain characters that were so beloved.
Is the movie a love letter to fandom, or is it a takedown?
I think it’s an acknowledgment [Laughs]. Fans exist and are a part

>!I know she has to pass the torch to a new final girl at some point, but it's kind of sad because Sidney has so much charisma, when she appears on screen, you can't help but look at her, she just steals the spotlight without even trying, she has so much charisma!<

Neve Campbell teases bloodier 'Scream': 'It's on another level'
After more than a decade, the star of the iconic horror franchise returns for a fifth go-round with an even deadlier Ghostface
Making a return to the Scream franchise for a fifth instalment was the last thing Neve Campbell thought she’d be doing after 25 years. But when new directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett pitched a fresh storyline involving her iconic heroine Sidney Prescott, it was an offer she couldn’t refuse.
“I knew there was a possibility that someone would want to make these films again because they have been such a success,” Campbell, 48, says in a virtual call from Los Angeles. “But I was never certain that I would want to do one again after Wes (Craven) passed away. He was such a rock star and the reason that these movies were as successful as they were.”
Craven’s death in 2015 was felt far beyond the horror industry he helped shape by directing such films as The Last House on the Left , The Hills Have Eyes and the hugely popular Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. His tongue-in-cheek take on horror across four Scream films injected new blood into the slasher genre.
But Campbell, who also starred on TV’s Party of Five and House of Cards , says she was moved to come back when directors Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett, best known for the 2019 horror-comedy Ready or Not , wrote the actress a personal letter expressing their admiration for Craven.
“There was just an absolute love and respect for him, and they wanted to honour him with this movie,” she says. “That made me very excited. And then I realized who they were, because I had seen Ready or Not , and thought that was fantastic. After seeing that I knew they could do this movie.”
Along with the franchise’s long-time stars Courteney Cox (journalist Gale Weathers) and David Arquette (policeman Dewey Riley), Campbell returns to the quiet town of Woodsboro after a new murderer donning the Ghostface mask emerges looking to resurrect secrets from the town’s deadly past.
But the OG Scream stars won’t be the only ones in Ghostface’s sights. The killer will also be after a new gaggle of teens led by Dylan Minnette, Jack Quaid, Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jasmin Savoy Brown and others in the reboot/sequel.
“One big difference for Sidney in the new film is that she’s now a mom, which adds a whole other level to her as a badass,” the mother of one says. “She’s in a very different place in her life and no longer li
