A list of puns related to "Naruto Uzumaki"
Let me preface this by saying that i KNOW this is shounen. It's not supposed to be overly deep or realistic, and i shouldn't look for some sort of inner conflict type of story that most of humans go through in their lives. Having said that, some parts of this story kind of rile me up when i think about them. I'll address both the "things weirdly working out" and "most of the time not being in situations that demand a tough choice" parts, through some examples.
First example, or "things weirdly working out" part: At the beginning of Great Ninja War, when Naruto realizes what is happening in the world and when he, in true Naruto fashion, decides to rush out and help his friends and comrades - he says with utmost belief in himself : "I will stop this war by myself." Not knowing a fucking thing about what, or whom he is facing. Kind of understanding why his friends decided to keep him secluded, but still going out despite that. At that point I can only imagine that he thought to himself "I'll walk up right to Madara Uchiha, fight him with all I got, and save my friends." I don't think that for even a second he told himself "Maybe me being right at the helm of battle, fighting the guy who already has seven of the nine Tailed Beasts sealed and ready for his fucked up plan and who could do the same to me - especially since I will be at the forefront, might be risky for my friends and the whole world."
So by going out to save his friends and comrades and the world against all odds, which is completely in line with his character, he endangers them all. Just by being there. That is a fact which the story has been telling us. And all of that risk never really goes into play, because if it did Naruto anime/manga would have one bleak ending. Now, that wouldn't be that much of a problem if not for how that risk was surpassed: Sasuke, who last time he saw Naruto promised to kill him and destroy Konoha, coming to help out of nowhere in the middle of the battle, which is the result of the chain of events I'll talk about later. Without him Naruto and everyone else would be trapped in Infinite Tsukuyomi and remain like that. What's even worse is Naruto is like "I wondered when you will show up." in a very confident tone like he knew Sasuke would show up ready to help them. MOTHERFUCKER, he promised to fight and kill you and were it not for him very conveniently meeting his reanimated brother in the middle of the fucking woods you two would most likely be fighting o

Once again today I found myself watching this subreddit go down the rabbit hole of who got more ex-Machina powerups; Sasuke or Naruto. Generally speaking, I ere on the side of Sasuke and defend Naruto both because I usually see more arguments in favor of Sasuke so I have to play devil's advocate, but also because Naruto is one of my favorite characters.
I want to make it clear that while Kurama gets Naruto out of almost certain death at key moments in the story, this fanbase uses those moments to ignore and overshadow the reality that Naruto is one of the smartest characters in the series when it comes to battle strategy and improvisation. I mean this to say that Naruto has a very limited skillset as far as Jutsu goes. He has shadow clones, transformation, summoning, and Rasengan. All other Jutsu he has are just those but used differently. This means that if any one of those doesn't work, naruto is at a massive disadvantage right off the bat.
Naruto is constantly SAID to be a dummy who is a slow learner but there is little evidence of that. And I'll prove it with evidence and inferences.
Before some of you start with that, I am also not comparing his intelligence to anyone else's. Any comparisons I make below are to illustrate similar situations, rather than equate intelligence. This is not a post to place him above, below, or on par with characters like Sasuke, Kakashi, Neji, Sakura, or Shikamaru who are widely accepted as highly intelligent in-universe by characters, by fans, or both. This isn't an invitation for you to say, "Oh well if X CHARACTER had Kurama chakra, HE would be SO much STRONGER than Naruto". This post is merely to illustrate the feats of intelligence Naruto has, explain why they are meaningful, and prove that Naruto's intelligence is underrated by the Naruto fanbase, and at least this subreddit. β’ β Naruto was an orphan who was shunned by his entire community, much of his lack of learning up until Part 1 can be attributed to neglect, which other characters didn't have many being the children of Jonin or coming from strong families (Team 10, Team 8, Neji, Sasuke). Naruto had a strong family, but they died before they could give him any guidance whatsoever.
β’ β It is repeatedly stated that being the vessel of Karuma meant that chakra control was more difficult for naruto because of how much chakra he had and the fact that they fought against each other within him.

Nagato as a semi-constant (if never really present) part of Naruto's life sounds interesting to me. A distant cousin or the like that sends Naruto letters and gifts, but who Naruto's never actually met before.
Nagato in this idea is a bit more put together than in canon (I'd personally say he doesn't go for the "combine the Biju and use them to threaten the planet into peace" idea), and as such is more dedicated to peace through other means. Naruto gets a lot of letters about how his cousin's team (the non-evil Akatsuki) helped out after some natural disaster, or helped get a dangerous criminal, or did some agricultural work, etc.
Why Konoha allows this? They verified it somehow (not discovering the Rinnegan in the process, because I'd want that to be a surprise for later), and they check all of Naruto's mail before he gets it. Nagato's not sending anything dangerous or the like, so they let the letters and packages through.
Alternatively: Nagato gets around all the security via sneaking a summoned creature into the village with Naruto's letter.
Long term this leads to Naruto being more dedicated in his training (Cousin Nagato is pretty supportive, and sends a lot of useful tips about whatever Naruto's struggling with at the time), and not being the dead last. He'll never be the best student, not with the way that he learns far better by doing than sitting in a classroom, but he manages to secure a nice spot in the middle of the classroom rankings.
I have no grand plan for this (beyond a distant desire for Nagato to come to the Chuunin Exams to see his cousin in person for the first time ever), but I really like the idea of Naruto having a supportive family member, even if it's limited to letters for a long time.

Who wins?
I know what you're thinking. Natsu/DBSuper Goku/Deku/whoever other main protagonist is worse. Many protagonists are flawed in some way (Goku is kinda flat, Natsu is a one note moron, etc.) but Naruto takes the cake for all the reasons about to be listed.
1. Many unresolved issues people complain about in the ending are failures on Narutoβs part
He promised to change the Hyuuga clan for Neji, heβs not shown to have done anything.
He promised Nagato to break the cycle of hatred, and find peace. Heβs not shown to make any changes to the system which thrives on conflicts and breeds hatred. Heβs not done anything for the smaller villages, theyβre not even included in the Kages meeting in Gaiden. They continue to be marginalized by the big power just like in Nagatoβs time.
He has not done anything about Orochimaru who killed many innocents in his experiments except keeping an eye on him. His approach is to deal with threats as they come, heβs not interested in addressing root cause or breaking any cycle.
Heβs kept the uchiha massacre under the rug. Again, heβs not interested in facing up to truths and learning from history. He even said βcold hard facts donβt matter, only feelings matterβ.
Naruto is the Hokage, Child of Prophecy, the person Neji, Jiraya, Nagato and Konan put their faith in; heβs the character who should bring resolution to these plot points and themes, and he didnβt.
Naruto fanboys argue βwe donβt know, the changes could be off panelβ. This is pathetic, itβs like saying βjust because the defeat of the villains wasnβt shown doesnβt mean it didnβt happen, the fights and defeat was off panel!β. Why shouldnβt the defeat of the source of evil and tragedies in this series be shown on panel?
2. Naruto embodies the dangerous ideology of this series
This series is a brainwashing propaganda which:
Defends corrupt system
Thatβs what Naruto did for the whole series. Heβd meet a villain whoβs a victim of the system (Gaara, Neji, Nagato, Obito, Sasuke), heβd defeat them and tell them to stop being angry and just find love and faith, thatβs all. Heβs never challenged the authorities over the practice of jinchuuriki, Hyuuga clan slavery, chi
... keep reading on reddit β‘I have seen too many posts about Naruto saying he got free power ups or that the Asura thing cheapens his character. Some people have outright stated he got free gifts and power ups. These are wrong.
Naruto was shown training and working hard a lot in the series. Even before Hagoromo the guy learned high level ninjutsu, had to learn how to control Kurama who was to that point hindering him, and by his own character was able to convince the tailed beasts that he's different, and that's why they gave him bits of chakra. And Hagoromo only met Naruto and Sasuke because they met the criteria for gaining his power (some people totally miss this point).
But he was the Hokage's son? Child of prophecy? Etc. Yes all these are true but he didn't know that growing up but worked hard. If he was lazy you think he'd be acknowledged. He wouldn't
People give Naruto, Sasuke and by extension Kishimoto way to much crap for the reincarnation thing. Its fine to have an issue with it but saying outlandish things is just bothersome.
