A list of puns related to "Metropolitan Drinking Fountain and Cattle Trough Association"
I picked up a Pilot Metropolitan for my first pen and it's awesome. I like that it's metal, has decent weight, and I use it as my dedicated black ink daily driver. Now I want a second pen for a different color.
After watching Youtube reviews and looking at /r/fountainpens wiki, I see that TWSBI Eco and LAMY Safari are two also commonly recommended pens.
I'm actually leaning more towards TWSBI ECO because of it's see-through structure and also because I've heard that LAMY tends be lighter, geared towards school students.
What do you guys think is a good 2nd pen to follow up Pilot Metropolitan?

Iβve used it some but itβs mostly spent its life in a drawer (the grip isnβt ergonomic for me and I get ink on my fingers every time I try to write with it).
It has a medium nib and writes beautifully.
Iβm asking for $10 to cover the costs of shipping, but mostly itβs just time to re-home this pen.
Hello everyone ! I recently became very interested in fountain pens and started to read and watch a lot of articles and youtube videos of fountain pen basics, proper way to use and clean fountain pens and so on.
Now, I really want to buy one and experience writing with a fountain pen but I don't know which pen to buy first. So again, I started to look for some good pens to start with.
BTW, I am a student, so I was looking for a cheap, reliable pen that writes smoothly and lasts a long time and was stuck between 2 pens; pilot metropolitan and platinum preppy.
both of these pens have good reviews on them, are cheap and look good so I am not sure which one would be better. Can you share your experiences using these two pens and help me decide which one to buy ?
CONCLUSION: thank you everyone for sharing your opinions and experiences about these two pens in this post. It has been a day since I asked this question and I finally has a definite answer to my question. I am going to buy a pilot metropolitan for the following reasons:
there are many other advantages and disadvantages that were mentioned by the great redditors of this community but the above points are what made my choice of choosing the metro solid
Thank you everyone !

Also I'll use this as my daily notes writing pen.
After some research, I I have decided to buy a pilot metro as it seems to be the most recommended (and affordable) beginners fountain pen.
I have no idea which ink to buy. I want something cheap (around $8).
Will this pilot ink be good enough.
What are some other inks that are affordable and good for beginners?
Also, should I go with fine nib or medium nib. I am leaning a bit towards medium nib but I am not sure as my handwriting is not very big. (My handwriting is somewhere b/w medium and small).
I bought this and this but not a rollerball, itβs a fountain pen with the same design. Theyβre stunning and I love them.
The Pilot is a bladder fill and the TWSBI is a piston fill pen. Seems simple enough, right? Although these are my first fountain pens. Iβve used calligraphy pens before where you constantly have to dip them but not fountain
I read the directions for the TWSBI, itβs full of ink now but it feels as if I have to write pretty hard to get the ink out, and it skips a little.
The Pilot isnβt working at all. I have filled and refilled it ten times and pumped the bladder a bunch of times in the ink, and I know itβs full, but no ink comes out.
The ink is Dr Ph martins in black sparkle. I really hope I didnβt buy horrid ink thatβs clogging up my pens immediately.
Anyway let me know what to do. Iβve been trying to trouble shoot for this!
