Goliathon (1977 movie) 1977 film by Ho Meng Hua

Rabbits are mammals of the order Lagomorpha. are derived from earlier mammals than the marsupials and eutherians, but their fossil record is poor.

The time at which the monotreme line diverged from other mammalian lines is uncertain, but one survey of genetic studies gives an estimate of about 220 million years ago.

The order Lagomorpha is made of rabbits, pikas and hares. Rabbits can be found in many parts of the world. They live in families and eat vegetables and hay. In the wild, rabbits live in burrows, that they dig themselves. A group of rabbits living together in a burrow is called a warren. Rabbits are famous for hopping and eating carrots.

A male rabbit is called a buck, and a female is called a doe. A baby rabbit is called a kit, which is short for kitten. Rabbits have a gestation period of around 31 days. The female can have up to 12-13 kits, very rarely litters as big as 18 and as small as one. When the doe gives birth her babies are collectively referred to as a litter. Some people have rabbits as pets. Rabbits are also raised for their meat. The egg-laying and the cloaca are primitive ('basal') features inherited from earlier synapsid tetrapods.

But the monotremes also have other features such as the production of milk, caring for their young in burrows, homeothermy and a neocortex in their brains. These are advanced ('derived') features which they share with placentals and marsupials. This mixture of basal and derived features is characteristic of the way different body parts often evolve at different rates. This is called mosaic evolution.

In mammals, a monophyletic group, rabbits are prey animals, they are careful in open spaces. If they sense danger, they freeze and watch. Rabbit vision has a very wide field, including overhead scanning. Their enemies are foxes and dogs; also bears, raccoons, minks, weasels and snakes. Birds of prey sometimes take rabbits. People are also known to shoot rabbits, because they eat crops. Their escape method is to run for their burrow, where they are usually safe.

Rabbits have a complex social structure and, like dogs, they have a hierarchy. Rabbit ears probably have several functions. The main function is to give warning of predators, but they may be used for signalling, and temperature regulation.

In the wild, rabbits have plenty to keep them occupied, from foraging to reproduction to territorial defense. Because the neck cannot be seen, the head and body appear to join together. The earholes are on

‘When They United’

Part I

Throughout the storied history of planet Earth, countless species in the animal kingdom have battled malicious viruses and bacterial strains; all with varying degrees of success. While these microscopic invaders wreaked havoc on the host’s embattled immune system, it did so without support or assistance from any other microscopic species. In essence, we were often able to overcome these internal attacks because they came from only one pathogen at-a-time.

We ‘knew’ they were primitive life forms; wholly incapable of complex mental function, or self-awareness. Any empirical evidence to the contrary would’ve suggested a significant level of sentience we weren’t willing to entertain. The human race was so fixated on its perceived ‘superiority’, that we refused to consider the possibility of species outside the animal kingdom being able to communicate with different life forms too. Our scientific community and religious leaders assured our fragile little egos that humanity is unique.

“Only we can communicate with each other in a meaningful way.”; They told us. We thought of these one-celled parasites attacking our bodies as unthinking, mindless ‘germs’ intellectually unaware of their own existence, or the greater world outside the body of their hosts. Those ‘facts’ made us feel important and special but they were recently proven very wrong.

In a surprising level of collaboration that went initially undetected, the viral and bacterial kingdoms started attacking their human hosts in a deliberate, calculated fashion. This highly unusual partnership was unlike anything we’d experienced before. Their tandem attacks meant that previously developed natural immunity or lab vaccines only had a minimal impact.

Deaths spiraled globally from what was previously curable conditions. This hidden disease alliance led the leading virologists astray because they were still targeting specific strains. Besides offering malicious pathogens safety in numbers and greater gene variety, their united front afforded them unparalleled resistance to what had been our most effective treatment options.

There was also the devastating effect of natural evolution as a bringer of beneficial adaption. In ‘comparing notes’ and sharing their inherent biological strengths via reproduction, it allowed the rise of super strains produced through organized cross-breeding. Even the ‘common cold’ mutated. It was able to weaponize itself tenfold against thousands of years of mammalian re

Baraminology and Kinds - Young Earth Creationists invented a new field of... well... it's not science.

Considering that Young Earth Creationists (YECs) reject most of modern Biology[1] and Geology,[2] it is about time they developed their own field of observational science. Taxonomic divisions have traditionally been based on physical characteristics, however the new frontier of genome sequencing has shaken that status quo. While geneticists are hard at work with biological data to divide living things by evolutionary similarity, YECs are hard at work on their own new set of divisions.

The intent is to solve a problem; there are too many animals. The fewer creatures that YECs have to fit onto Noah’s ark, the more reasonable their position is; feeding, watering, cleaning, and de-manuring 50,000[3] terrified animals in the world’s biggest floating zoo is a daunting task, and it’s not one that the Ark Encounter amusement park would like to pedal. Secondarily, genetic similarity between animals and observed speciation and mutation cannot be adequately explained by YEC microevolution. To address these issues, YECs have developed the pseudoscientific field of Baraminology. All species are confined into bubbles that hover around the taxon of family. Some examples[4] set forth by creationists are Bear Kind, (equivalent to family Ursidae and all its genus and species) Great Ape Kind, (family Pongidae) and Camel Kind (family Camelidae). Genuses and species within kinds can evolve as much as they want inside their bubble, but cannot break out of it either in the past or in the future. Theoretically, pairs of ancestors for each kind on the ark are responsible for the vast diversity today.

I call it pseudoscientific because while Bariminology was not developed to study or classify any actual scientific data (as you will see in a moment), it still insists on using scientific terminology and being written about in technical publications. For the purposes of this article I will be referring to a series of papers researched by Dr. Jean Lightner and published by Answers Research Journal. The papers were originally intended to provide guidelines for the exhibits at the Ark Encounter amusement park. Dr. Lightner outlines the method that she and her team used to define kinds in their report. I am going to present it as they do and let their process speak for itself.

First, the Answers researchers looked for hybridization - reproductive compatibility. If two animals can produce offspring, the researchers consider them, and by extension their respective taxological f

Synth vs Ben Shapiro: An Effortpost and a take I think Destiny Missed

I wanted to make an effortpost on this discussion because I found Ben's responses kind of interesting but also perplexing. I feel Ben is mixing up some contexts and groups to make his ultimate point and may not be answering in the best faith possible (or he's just misinformed). I was also kind of surprised Destiny didn't discuss this when he went over the video, but he didn't do a deep dive or anything, and I didn't really catch this until listening a second time.

Cards on the table, I'm reviewing this from a conservative perspective, and whilst I would be more a likely to agree with Ben's conclusions over Synth's, I as I will discuss, disagree with the arguments he's providing here.

The individual clip cut out of the VOD is available here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2C_seOSdrE&ab_channel=BenShapiro

NOTE (if you watch the video, you can skip most my quotations and the post will be far shorter)

So, the video starts with Synth asking Ben why he thinks he's right when a bunch of associations disagree with him.

>why do you believe you're right about trans people given thousands of doctors, sociologists, psychologists with PHDs support the idea that sex and gender are different [~]?

Now, from the get-go, I am going to point out that this is a horrible premise for an argument, especially against a social conservative like Ben. It would be a stronger argument to cite why they say this and ask Ben to respond to that rather than essentially imply he's a dumbfuck for not joining your bandwagon. You wouldn't convince an anti-vaxxer to get vaxxed by telling them "well the rest of us did it, and Faucci said we should".

Ben answers...

>Sex and gender are two different concepts, but gender is tied to biology. One of the big problems you see with arguments in favour of trans rights is the notion that gender and sex are completely separable; they're not. If this isn't true, identifying people via their gender is meaningless. Male and female are biological terms. Using those terms to describe a self-perception of maleness or femaleness is a bizarre way of arguing whether something is a man or a woman. Here's my question: Define a woman without using the word woman?

Ok, so this is where I notice things get complicated...

Ben's first premise is that if gender is a social construct, it loses all utility. I do not find this a disagreeable

Has women empowerment brought change in women's sexuality too?

Rationale of this discussion:

I am not sure but, by this discussion, it may be so that I am trying to understand sexuality of human beings, man's and woman's. My musings in this post may be subjective and at the end of it all, my thinking may get altered. Or may be, we together, could come to a general consensus. It is my endeavor to study human nature. This is the second post of this kind. The first one, which concerned good and evil, was blocked by the mods. [I am thinking of coming up with an edited version of that blocked question.]. Hoping this stays.

Context:

>Plato, according to Elaine Hoffman Baruch, "[argued] for the total political and sexual equality of women, advocating that they be members of his highest class... those who rule and fight." Book five of Plato's The Republic discusses the role of women: "Are dogs divided into hes and shes, or do they both share equally in hunting and in keeping watch and in the other duties of dogs? Or do we entrust to the males the entire and exclusive care of the flocks, while we leave the females at home, under the idea that the bearing and suckling their puppies is labor enough for them?". The Republic states that women in Plato's ideal state should work alongside men, receive equal education, and share equally in all aspects of the state.
>
>- Wikipedia

From then onward we have come a long way, though lot desires to be done, in terms of women empowerment. The spread of 'equality of women' is not at a even scale among all sections of the society. It varies from total, among some sections of the society and to nil, among some sections of the society and the grey area in between. For example in some sections of the societies of developed countries women empowerment is almost total and in rural areas of a third world country like India, it is almost nil, although we did have a very powerful and dominant, almost autocratic, woman as our Prime minister.

The case that we would be discussing here is the sexuality of women, among those who have achieved almost total equality with men.

Point of discussion:

Normal sexual act begins with sexual attraction facilitated by the senses and culminates with the sexual act.

Let us keep the discussion limited purely to "sexuality of empowered women" only i.e related to the role of empowered women in the sexual act between a male and a female, who are sexually attracted by each other and not delve into the related matters of love, commitmen

Grunt Scientific Report (by Doctor Arif and Professor Benedict)

Grunt (Gryllismos parafroyni)

The grunt is a vertebrate of humanoid characteristics. Its classification of its phyla and class is ambiguous, but some may say that they are mammalian chordates while others would say they are crinoid echinoderms. Grunts are an omnivorous species, proved by their love for hotdogs, a combination of plant matter and meat. The matter which makes up the sausage in a hotdog is unknown, but sources confirm they may be made out of the flesh of deceased grunts.

Grunts are typically peaceful, docile animals but may be triggered into combative and aggressive behaviour by influence of other grunts. Grunts seem to operate under a eusocial or feudal system, similar to ants and bees, however, instead of the highest power reproducing and giving birth to members of the colony, they are cloned in vast facilities. These facilities are owned by a grunt superpower called “AAHW”, which is led by a black grunt with a black aura of flames surrounding it, designated AUD-X3. This political power was mostly founded to stop a grunt designated as HNK-P1, as well as combatting against other grunts such as DMS-P2 and SFD-P3. The “AAHW” was co-founded by JEB-X1 and SHF-X2 and partnered with TRK-X4

The main and default appearance of a grunt is having no arms, no neck, a face distinguished by a cross, floating hands and two grey feet which look like “shoes”. Grunts are separated into different subspecies or breeds, some of them mainly being genetically modified and being different from the original grunt (G. parafroyni kanonikos), which is grey and dull in appearance. Engineers (G. parafroyni michanikos) are a subspecies of grunt which have been “upgraded” in a sense, possessing yellow blood. Engineers “wear” black suits along with a mask and yellow visor. Soldats (G. parafroyni soldat) are another genetically engineered subspecies of grunt, possessing yellow blood like the engineers, and are described as being “cyclops” due to having only one functional eye.

Some grunts will join the AAHW (or Agency Against Hank Wimbleton) to help stop HNK-P1. Joining the AAHW often causes grunts to be genetically modified by other AAHW members under the order of AUD-X3, these modifications follow from enhanced capability, to being enlarged to massive sizes, such case involved one of these grunts to be enlarged to the near size of a building, this case was dubbed [REDACTED]. The Grunt HNK-P1 was genetically modified by DMS-P2, however afterwards DMS-P2 was terminated by

The Human Experience (1/2, long read)

As seasons shift, frost falls, and snow starts, I come to reflect upon what growth the year has taught me in relation to this life.

The word of the year is CONSCIOUS. To be conscious, to have a conscious, what is consciousness? I have seen people awake without it, I have seen it switch off mid-conversation, I have seen it suppressed and I have seen it grown. The difference between man, beast, and machine lies in this nature of mind, something I have worked towards creating in myself for as long as I can remember. Intangible, immaterial, self-propagating in its highest states and oppressive in its lowest, the precise quality nearly impossible to pinpoint when the difference is awareness to easily missed details often unspoken upon. In its barest state it can be described as awareness, but what does that really entail? In even the most basic protozoa, there needs to be the ability to recognize surroundings and respond to stimulation with discernment for what is being ingested to continue living in this realm. Without eyes, ears, or limbs, its interactions are only the most essential to keeping its cellular chemistry in flow, yet these are still conscious interactions with food and water and other beings around. They still feel the world around them, just as our eyes feel the light and our ears feel noises on the air; the only real difference is scale determining what is relatively important to the individual being.

The entire universe is made of vibration/frequency/resonance, but the resonance of electromagnetism generated through this living interaction is a special one. Cellular computation is an eternal process for all (except tardigardes) that has a small thrumming beat to it, a pulse sent through the world for any with enough perception to witness; the electrochemistry generated by this is the essence of consciousness. There is a massive variety to the sensory organs with specialized fields of perception that changes the capacity of consciousness depending on species and individual. We can marvel at the capacities of various animals; the ears and eyes of owls, a hound's nose, the electro-sensory capacity of hammerhead sharks, but how often do we appreciate the depth of sense available to a man? A human finger can feel into the millimeter of a wood grain while calculating the engineering and trajectory for a space launch. A computer can now do both of those things as well, and often better than we can; what makes a human superior to having AI running

Is the church at its core a cult of cosmically significant, heterosexual reproduction?

Read the proclamation. Read the church's resources on same-sex attraction. What's never explicitly stated, but seems to be strongly suggested, is this:

A super-human hailing from another solar system wants his offspring to only ever arrange themselves in clear, reproductively active, male/female arrangements. Any other kind of arrangement, including reproductively active male/female arrangements without a kind of contract recognized by earthly governments, offends this super-human and will bring calamities upon individuals, communities, and nations. Why?

The bare minimum standard is government recognized, male/female, reproductive arrangement. The ideal is government recognized, LDS endorsed (sealing), male/female, reproductive arrangement.

Here's what I suspect this all implies. I think LDS who think about this with any depth have in their heads an idea that this is all cosmically significant. The proclamation says as much, but in the mamby pamby, jargon of Christianity. I suspect that they suspect that the fate of our species depends on maximizing these arrangements and that our (species') persistence in space and time depends on maximizing the number of contractually bound, eternally significant, reproductively active, male/female arrangements.

I suspect that is what LDS who think about this understand of the centrality of all of this "to the creator's plan for the eternal destiny of his children". Members -- and leadership -- don't seem to want to say this, but what else could it be? I'm being serious. If not this, then what is the explanation for Elohim's insistence on these arrangements? Pettiness? Randomness? Mystery? Come on Mormons, don't to pretend to be so obtuse.

I take this to be why the earthly existence of actively queer and nonconforming people is so threatening and offensive to the church and its members -- it dilutes the propagation of the species into space and time by reducing the number of reproductively active, contractually bound, male/female arrangements. This is the Kolobian plan -- i.e. make more Kolobians and spread Kolobian influence further into space and time. Queer people undermine that plan. Honestly, what else could it be?

This, by the way, is why I suspect the church will never accommodate queer people in the same way they accommodated descendants of Cain (eyeroll). Black skin isn't eternally significant in the same way -- instead it was basically the product of Elohim or Jehovah's tantrum; like a heritab

Humans are Weird - Supply and Demand - Audio Narration and Animatic

The gleaming green sunlight was just angling down for the afternoon when Flight Subcommander Twenty Clicks discovered that one of the humans had eaten the entire supply of acidic calcium supplements for the base. He had the holo-record right in front of him. He scratched the control screen one more time just to be sure of what he was seeing. It was a fairly simple situation on the fringes of the air mass.

The human had been on duty in the supply bay. It had been his job to fill all material requests for the base. Humans were exceptionally well-adapted for this duty. Their height alone made working in the warehouses an easy matter for them. Their truly terrifying compressive strength meant that they ignored the lifting machines most of the time in favor of manually filling the orders. They were more likely to send the drones for the smaller packages than for the larger ones. Twenty Clicks had once seen a human lift an entire shelving unit full of prefabricated building cores simply to retrieve a scrap of paper that the human immediately tossed in the recycler.

Twenty Clicks scratched the control again to watch the scene over, trying to understand. The human was what they called middle-aged. Not yet out of his reproductive cycle but past the prime of his breeding age. His hair was beginning to thin on the top of his head in a way that made him look dull and scattered. His uniform was clean but rumpled. He was sprawled across the chair he was nominally sitting in. He had forced two of the supports off of the ground and was bracing the unbalanced position by resting his legs on a nearby storage crate. In one hand he held a datapad, which the helpful AI indicated was displaying one of the popular theoretical social simulations. The other hand was otherwise occupied.

Twenty Clicks watched in fascination as the massive hand, easily as large as one of his wings, lifted from where it rested on the human’s thigh and drifted almost as if not under the control of the massive mammalian brain towards the open bag of calcium citrate supplements that rested beside the human on a crate. The hand, all the time out of range of the human’s binocular vision, drifted over and past the bag till it reached nearly the full range of the human’s flexibility, then drifted back and began to make short passes in the general location of the bag.

This was clearly Undulate behavior,

On the unexpected consequences of official, public contact (and what it is to be human)

This is a hugely long, quite rambly post, but I need to jot down a whole bunch of thoughts that have been coming together these last few eventful months. I once read a claim that when the Emperor of Japan first laid eyes on the steam ships of the American Navy in 1851, and then their more assertive appearance in 1854 , the experience of the technological and military gap was so humiliating to the Japanese high brass that they set in motion a multi-generational plan to close the technological gap and bring about the rise of Imperial Japan, through an all encompassing wave of nationalism Milestones: 1830–1860 - Office of the Historian (state.gov). In our current modern context, contact could lead to a kind of 'world nationalism' along similar lines.

True or not, I still wonder about the unexpected consequences upon our culture of contact with very different cultures and their technologies.

It may be assumed that aliens have adapted to technological opportunities in ways that makes them very different now to the equivalent stage of scientific development we currently have. For example, it seems likely that at least some alien races have extensively genetically engineered themselves and created machines that are so much a part of them that where life begins and machine starts may not easily be determinable.

If they are genetically self-modified they may have evolved past the need to carry infants, assuming they once gave live birth, and developed synthetic wombs, which additionally may allow prolonged brain growth, sort of like having a fourth trimester.

They may have engineered 3 or 4 times their life span or even beyond that.

They may have all but eliminated cancer.

And they may not have families like we do. Reproductive rights may not exist in their society, with the society controlling and selecting the mating process.

Imagine that were so, when we look at their society, what will become of our way of doing things, now that we have gene editing technology? Will we continue to ignore the potential of genetic engineering to prolong our lives? For example, some whales have genes that allow very large numbers of cells to grow in their bodies without forming tumours, and they have greater lifespan than us. Those genes help their organs eliminate senescent cells and terminate cancerous ones. The effect of eliminating senescent cells is life extension and physical rejuvenation in animal r

Also, assuming they engage in biological reproduction, do the villager’s similarly proportioned bodies imply a common genitalia or do the mammalian/avian/reptillian animals have different organs like their real world counterparts?

Isabelle’s comments on her and her brothers births seem to suggest vaginal birth but I feel like somewhere at some point a villager has talked to me about hatching from an egg?

Pterosapiens Headcanons that I had

I meant to share this last night, but I was sleepy. XD

SO, it'll be just a bit of a quick post for the morning! Please enjoy!

-------------------------------------------------------------

- Pterosapiens believe that an individual's name and talent can outlive them. The painfully short lifespan of the average Pterosapien individual has done much to influence how their society works. Part of this involves in passing down one's talent, as well as their name, to a worthy successor, so that their work can continue long past the lifespan of the original individual. I.e. a painter will have one student, or several, learn their techniques so they can continue work in his style. Rarely will a Pterosapien ever turn down this opportunity to continue their legacy--and every time it is regarded as a terrible waste of potential and talent.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

- Their hearts are so complex because they DON'T have hollow bones. Similarly to bats, Pterosapiens, and all other Flyer-based species, have mammalian bones, rather than the hollow, air-filled bones of birds. This has necessitated the evolution of their super-charged hearts and respiratory systems, as they essentially brute-force their way into the skies. This has given them all flight, but rather short lifespans--thus, speeding up their rate of reproduction and allowing for the diversification of the Flyers--and even diversification of the Pterosapiens as well.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

- Pterosapiens celebrate the virtue of self-sacrifice. A person who knows the shortness of their life--and offers it up anyway so that someone else can live to the fullest--is no less than a true hero. This was an especially common attitude during their industrial revolution, where numerous Pterosapiens had willingly sacrificed themselves to error and terrible working conditions, so the children of tomorrow can live in prosperity. This has also produced a society of workaholics, who typically have only one vacation in their whole lives, while the spend the rest of their short life working for the benefit of others. Which is strange because....

- Pterosapien citizens aren't obligated to ANYTHING. The basis of the Pterosapien's individual life revolves around being able to spend it as they see fit, in the short time that they have it. They've w

Dropped my best ever dad joke & no one was around to hear it

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.

I said "hey look, an escaPEA"

No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!

Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies 😂

Men and Women Sharing Interests

It's no secret that there is a biological antagonism between the sexes; initially, although not exclusively, an antagonism rooted in the conflicts of interest when it comes to mammalian insemination and gestation. Gestating is taxing and dangerous and - while ejaculation is more taxing than people realize (ditto insemination) - ejaculation (likewise w insemination) poses no immediate (see: inherent) bodily danger to one's self nor does it pose any inherent hindrance to one's continued reproductive capacity. The two sexes - well those who are allosexual and heterosexual anyway lol - are always bickering over control of fugging which means control of the genome.  From this arose divisions of labor, asymmetrical (indeed, infinite) mating behaviors, sex-gendering..everything we do to keep doin' the do; culture. All manner of custom and cultural "norm"s (norm in quotes as what's normal is always changing across space and time) come down to the matter of fugging.  Modern human society. Fun stuff, no?  Also tremendously horrifying lol.  The complexity - the drama, the violence, the sentimentality, romance, beauty, destruction, all of it - which has arisen from sexual antagonism is overwhelming and awe-inspiring to me. Eat, sleep, hopefully FUG...or hopefully avoid a fug..whatever your prerogative..

But anyhoo, I wanna focus on figuring out where male and female interests - those of the average / general population - can align. Not compromise, no, but simply and effortlessly align.  Revisiting a piece about an attorney / author I really like, I noticed mention of child support.  And that reminded me of you guys cause child support is often a point of contention between the two sexes tending to elicit debate.  Hatcher accidentally sheds light on a third party whose rarely, if ever, noted by the men and women and others engaged in the child support debates.

Some ppl have alrdy suspected or known the existence of a nefarious third-actor, but not often do I encounter anyone with any specialized knowledge in the matter. Usually boils down to a "the gummint!" - which is fair enough shake at an appraisal - but I think that misses important details which need to be acknowledged in order for the injustices to be addressed.  REALISTICALLY addressed, NOT theoretically.

Thought y'all might like it so take a gander.  It's a bit of a ways in and its brief but read the whole thing for the context. Otherwise, for tl;dr, hit CtrlF (or if on a phone in your browser click "

The Struggle of Consciousness; Awaken the Heart (Part 1/2)

Scientific Report on Madness Combat Grunts if they were real animals

Some grunts will join the AAHW (or Agency Against Hank Wimbleton) to help stop HNK-P1, joining the AAHW often causes grunts to be genetically modified by other AAHW members under the order of AUD-X2, these modifications follow from being enhanced capability, to being enlarged to massive sizes, such case involved one of these grunts to be enlarged to the near size of a building, this case was dubbed [REDACTED]. The Grunt HNK-P1 was genetically modified by DMS-P2, however afterwards DMS-P2 was termina
