A list of puns related to "Liberty in North Korea"
Hello Bitcoin community!
I'm posting on behalf of our organization - Liberty in North Korea. We recently started accepting cryptocurrency donations on a more public basis by partnering with The Giving Block. Some of you may know this already, but there is a yearly giving event that they host called BitcoinTuesday happening next Tuesday, December 1st.
We are one of the many organizations accepting bitcoin (and ETH, LTC, BCH, ZEC, GUSD, BAT, LINK), so I encourage you to check out our crypto landing page and The Giving Block's BitcoinTuesday page and donate to any organization you want to support.
We are a global movement that believes every man, woman, and child in North Korea deserves to live a free and full life. Any crypto you donate will help North Korean refugees reach freedom through our 3,000-mile secret rescue route and will empower them in their new lives in order to be advocates and changemakers, so that one day soon they will achieve their own liberty.

Please comment with any questions you have, and feel free to DM as well.
Note: donations (crypto or otherwise) are not sent to North Korea. All donations go directly to LiNK and our work.
P.S. We have another user account at u/LIBERTYINNORTHKOREA but we've lost access to the account and are working with Reddit to get back in. Just wanted to get that out there in case any of you do some due diligence and are wondering.

I saw the Loyal Citizens of Pyongyang doc and some other stuff that call out a lot of defector testimony, and understand defenses of the DPRK, but found this new org that has a lot of defectors seemingly unconnected to the rest who have stories as well, and was wondering if this was an organization not merely acting as anti-communist and in tandem with the state/CIA here or there is truth to some repression in the DPRK
Update 1: Thanks everyone for the awesome questions! It sounds like our friend SH is running out of steam and I imagine our colleagues in Seoul have some sore typing fingers, so we're going to have to sign off for now. They'll try to stop by later on and fill in any gaps, but see the links below for more info on how you can help and be sure to follow @LibertyinNK and @aym for ongoing info about North Korea and digital human rights activism, respectively. Please share widely, and until the next time!
Hey Folks, Movements.org here for this AMA. This is JJ at the keyboard and we are joined tonight (or this morning in a chilly Seoul) by an incredible organization Liberty in North Korea: LiNK who is sitting beside (and providing translation for) our friend Sang-hyun who recently escaped from North Korea. Because of the ongoing danger involved in making this passage and the constant threat of retribution, we are not using Sang-hyun's real name, and the best proof we can offer of his identity is a Tweet from both organizations here: Movements.org and LINK. Over the next hour-and-a-half, Sang-hyun will be available to answer any question you have about North Korea-- our goal is to get past the headlines about nukes and sanctions that have bombarded us these past few weeks and understand a bit better what the people living inside the most repressive regime in the world are dealing with every day.
We hope you'll forgive the intermediary nature of this AMA, but responses coming from Movements_Guest will be coming directly from LiNK and Sang-hyun himself.
Movements.org provides support to human rights activists using digital tools to fight repression and helps amplify those voices around the world who are calling for freedom. While we've done a number of activist chats on Twitter, this is our first Reddit AMA, and over the next few months we hope to bring you more opportunities to speak directly with those fighting on the front lines for basic human rights. For a bit more background on this AMA, and to Join Us, visit: Movements.org.
Want to make a difference for Sang-hyun and other people trying to escape North Korea?
... keep reading on reddit β‘I understand raising attention about the human rights abuse and the hardship of the people. Thank you for volunteering.
As some discussion, do you think South Korea want to double its population and collapse its economy? Does the US want to lose its excuse to have military bases all around East Asia for containment? I honestly donβt think any gov wants liberty in NK.
UPDATE: I have to go now but I think I got pretty much all of the questions, sorry if I missed you! I really appreciate your interest in learning more about North Korea and our organization's work. Stay in touch and don't hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions about supporting or joining our efforts. Thank you!
Stay in touch with us and engage in support for the North Korean people:
Hey all! This is Dana, Social Media Manager at LiNK. First, thank you so much for your support of our mission and for raising the funds to rescue a refugee. We're very excited about your community and for the opportunity to do this AMA with you.
AMA closed - Thanks for your questions and the discussion

About LiNK:
Liberty in North Korea is a global movement standing with the North Korean PEOPLE as they face one of the biggest challenges confronting humanity today. We do this through refugee rescues, resettlement support, tours and events, Rescue Teams, refugee insights, and media engagement. You can learn more about our work on our website.
About Sokeel Park:
Sokeel joined LiNK after working in the South Korean government, the United Nations, and diplomatic consultancy Independent Diplomat. His desire to work for the North Korean people brought him to LiNK, where he now leads all research and strategy work β building our understanding of North Korea, liaising with the media and external groups, and developing LiNKβs strategy and approach towards the issue.
Liberty In North Korea (LiNK) @ VCU is having a fundraiser at WhichWich on Tuesday, October 17th (10/17). We need people to RSVP first in order for WhichWich to agree, so please come and support North Korean refugee Resettlement! Mention LiNK at checkout to support us!
RSVP at https://www.groupraise.com/events/36998
LiNK has rescued over 700 refugees since 2004, and your contributions go directly to making that happen. Millions of North Koreans suffer from tyranny and starvation every day, and YOU can do something about it
I'm curious as to what Redditors subscribed to /NorthKorea (and in general) think about the non-profit organization, Liberty in North Korea. If you don't know what the group is or never heard of them, you can read more about them at libertyinnorthkorea.org
Blaine Harden's book "Escape from Camp 14" puts forward the assertion that celebrity support in North Korea is nonexistent, and implies that it might help raise awareness and social action.
When I shared that and asked Redditors in r/NorhtKorea, some responeses were negative, saying it would never work, or it was pointless publicity. But positive ideas and suggestions were put forward too.
One of the suggestions was to speak with a moderator over at r/NorthKoreaNews if they'd be interested in sponsoring this effort, and asking their subscribers to support it. The moderator I spoke with liked the idea, and is in the process of consulting the other moderators of that page.
Another one was to ask LiNK, a prominent Human Rights group for North Koreans, if they liked the idea of drumming up celebrity support. LiNK's representative answered both promptly, and positively! The surnames and my occupation are scrubbed from their response for privacy purposes.
Dear Mr. [omitted],
Thank you for your interest in LiNK! It's really encouraging when we get to meet people who are passionate about the North Korea crisis.
We too understand the importance of celebrities raising awareness for the North Korean people. Because of China's strong relationship with North Korea, celebrities may be fearful to be portrayed in a negative light in China if they choose to partner with LiNK. After all, China is the second largest box office for movies after America.
You mentioned you have specialized in [omitted for privacy]. If you send a resume, perhaps then we can discuss more in the future. If you have any other questions or concerns about LiNK, North Korean human rights, or ways you can get involved please do not hesitate to contact us!
Thanks again for reaching out, David! Best Regards, Elizabeth [omitted]
We here at /r/NorthKoreaNews are excited to announce that we will be hosting an AMA with Sokeel Park on March 17th 5:00 PM CST
Here is a brief overview of Sokeel Park taken from the LiNK website

You may remember from back in December, this sub-reddit went on a mission to [raise money and awareness] (http://fundraise.libertyinnorthkorea.org/fundraise/team?ftid=27635) for [Liberty in North Korea] (http://www.libertyinnorthkorea.org/) to fund a rescue mission to help save the life of a North Korea refugee.
With your amazing help, we raised over $3000! Which is more than enough to fully fund one rescue mission for a refugee!
So please join us! The post will be made at about 5:00 CST and Sokeel will start answering about at 7:00 PM CST
If you have any questions about this please feel free to ask below or message the Mod team. Thanks!
EDIT #1 For those of you in other time zones, try this website to find out what time it will be for you http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/
He asks a student "Who is your father?
The student replies "The Supreme Leader, infinite in wisdom and kindness, provider and protector of the Koreans, he is our only father."
Kim Jong beams. "Excellent. Now tell me who is your mother?"
The student doesn't hesitate. "The Land of True Korea, outstanding in her beauty, international superpower, and redeemer of all civilisations, she is our only mother."
Kim Jong applauses. "What a diligent student you are. What do you want to be when you're older?"
The student replies "An orphan."
Edit: Since I wrote this I've been hearing a Borat voice in my head saying "Make glorious nation of Kazakhstan" all day. I think I'm haunted.
