Hi, literally just finished the 2017 film on netflix, and as the title says, I'm just utterly surprised at how decent the film was. All this time, I gave the film a hard pass b/c of how awful the suit and zord designs were, but emotionally, the film did a fantastic job, far better than I was expecting.
Very likely a comparison already made in reviews (wouldn't know, haven't watched any), but it really reminded me of The Breakfast Club for most of the movie, each member having their own issues and learning to cooperate with one another. If anything, it was more that than Power Rangers at all, which would at the same time be its only con imo (aside from design choices), they don't seriously morph or fight until like 80% of the movie is done. Overall, I'm sad I didn't give the film a chance early on so I can at least say the film isn't DBZ evolution.
Hear me out on this...
I recently went back and started playing Battlefront 2015 again after trying my best to enjoy the 2017 game.
As soon as I started playing that first game the feeling of Star Wars instantly came back. The lazer bolts, the noises, the graphics it feels like your in the Star Wars universe.
I just can't say that about the 2017 version of the game. It feels forced. It looks like Star Wars but isn't. It sounds like Star wars but it isn't. It feels built without the care and attention of true fans of the films. It feels like a generic shooter with a Star Wars skin.
After putting in about the same amount of hours into both games IMO Battlefront 2015 is a more fun, more Star Wars game than the 2017 version of the game.

Where do I even start holy shit
Before seeing Chapter 2 in theaters, Chapter 1 was my favorite movie of all time. Now I have trouble deciding which is a better film. Before going to the theaters, I heard a lot of people saying chapter 2 sucked or was a disappointment. I went out and saw it for myself, and I couldn't wrap my head around what these people were talking about. It was fantastic. I think they were expecting something 75% horror, just like chapter 1. The thing is, there is a lot more jokes and comedy aspects to this movie than the first. And that's one of it's strongest features in my opinion. I laughed a lot during chapter 1, but this movie just went all out with the comedy. Some people argue the comedy was misplaced in some areas that were supposed to be scary, but that doesn't bother me!
For example, the infamous Leper scene, where they play that pop song while Eddie is getting barfed on by the Leper in slow motion. My first time watching it in theaters I was like: okay, what is the purpose of that? But then I was like hold up: I actually kind of like this! I thought it was a great addition and it makes the movie so much more interesting!
Another example is when Henry stabbed Eddie in the cheek. The scene itself was kind of silly, but it made me laugh when Eddie slowly left the room saying "you should cut that fucking mullet, it's been like 30 years man!"
And of course Richie dominates the humor here, but Eddie is a close second. Another thing people complain about is the flashbacks and the CGI de-aging on the kids. This didn't bother me! I thought it was somewhat noticeable with Eddie and Richie as kids because you can see their mouths moving, and you can hear them talking, but it just doesn't go together. I think the scene it sticks out the most is in Ben's underground hideout. Obviously, Eddie, Richie and Bill's voices sound a bit different since they grew up, and it is noticeable that they change their voices here too, but it doesn't bother me. I think it's quite interesting. I loved the amount of flashbacks too. They didn't bother me at all. You could argue they were unnecessary, but I thought it was great seeing these kids' encounters with Pennywise that we didn't see in Chapter 1. It was fantastic.
Also, I love the fact that they made Richie gay. It's something that was very subtle in the book and not really hinted at, but this movie definitely enforces it. Pennywise taunting Richie about his "dirty little secret" was absolutely fu
... keep reading on reddit β‘So the movie is primarily a comedy, and it has everyone in it: Alison Brie, Dave Franco, Kate Micucci, Aubrey Plaza, John C. Reilly, Molly Shannon, Fred Armisen, and Nick Offerman. The story takes place in a nunnery in the 1300's and the film completely commits to it's setting. So it is great seeing the in period castles and buildings and old bridges. In addition the audio recorded in these authentic buildings sounds amazing, the wonderful echo of stone walls and small rooms. The story centers around about 7 characters, and the story is very well done with constant motion and not really dragging or slowing down.
It is also incredibly funny, it had me rolling with laughter, especially Aubrey Plaza playing an evil villian, she is incredible as a bad guy. The humor is very normal modern improv dumbness. But the movie also had a depth and intelligence beyond the humor that you don't normally see in comedies, or even most movies. I won't list out what I thought was clever just to avoid spoilers, but I think the movie draws heavily from authentic old stories to give it smart twists. In addition there is authentic emotion that is well executed, which is another element most comedies don't have.
But really you have to watch it for the laughs, and to be WTF'ed by the structure. It is incredibly unique.
Pennywise has just started wandering Derry and has decided to try to stalk and kill the next person that he sees around the sewers. That next person that stumbles into in the sewers is Michael Myers who is armed with his signature knife. Michael also wants to absolutely kill the next person he stumbles onto. Fight takes place in the sewers of Derry, 2017 version

Has anyone noticed how Jumanji (2017) looks strange, film wise? It's hard to put a finger on exactly what it is, or explain it, but it just looks like a TV show more than a movie...like it was filmed the same way as a show like Saved By The Bell or something low budget like that.
If you know what I mean, why do you think it is?
