A list of puns related to "Iota Phi Theta"
I am researching student organizations in college, and what is up with all these greek numbers? why? sounds so pretentious tbh lol, sorry for my ignorance
Have been invited by my university to join the Phi Theta Epsilon OT honors society. Iβve been in plenty of honors societies in the past and all theyβve ever done is waste my time with unproductive meetings and ask me to pay them money for memberships and a cord at graduation. In my opinion honors societies are a way to βbuyβ yourself a resume booster and Iβm just not interested in that.
I donβt, however, want to be seen as lazy or βnot a team playerβ by professors and peers if I donβt join because Iβm sure most people will.
So⦠are there any good reasons to join this honors society from your experience? Do you see it as a worthwhile resume booster for the job market?
Thanks!
Hello,
I am a cc student and I recently decided that I want to pursue nursing. I have the option to join Phi Theta Kappa and I am wondering if it would be a wise decision to join PTK for the supposed scholarship opportunities and the possibility that it will look good on my resume. For reference, I live in California and the nursing programs here are highly competitive which makes me think that joining PTK might set me apart from other nursing candidates although I'm not entirely sure. Can anyone tell me their thoughts on whether I should or should not join? The fee is rather expensive ($85) and I am not sure if I should pay that much if I won't get anything out of it. Thank you.
According to this article there is now a lambda variant of COVID that is impacting people mostly in South America.
This of course is coming right in the middle of the Delta variant outbreak in the United States and other places.
In the greek alphabet, Delta is the 4th letter and Lambda is the 11th. So what happened to all the letters in between? Are there Epsilon-Kappa variants in other parts of the world that we just havent heard of?
If not, why did we skip those letters in our scientific naming scheme for virus variants?
I keep getting invites from them as Iβm sure all students do. And Iβve been debating doing it but Iβm no sure how it s going to benefit me. I watched the videos and read a little bit but I was hoping to get some inside perspective.
Is it worth the $85 membership fee? Anyone here a member?
iβm begging to know lmao i didnβt realize this until now. bless
I returned to school after a nearly 20 year break. After my first semester I started receiving emails on my school email from Phi Theta Kappa, asking me to join. I assumed it was spam / a scam so I ignored them, but I'm still receiving the emails a year later. What's the deal?
Edit: Kappa not Capa
So, this morning I received an invitation to join Phi Theta Kappa's Honor Society in my email. And until only a few hours ago, I had no idea who or what they were. Google tells me that they are one of the oldest honor societies in the US but as someone new to the country and someone who has spent almost his entire 2 years of community college in front of his computer at home, I have no idea what that means. I do know that my desired colleges have active chapters of PTK but I don't know what they do or the opportunities they offer.
I would greatly appreciate it if you guys would tell me your experiences with PTK and if or if not it is worth joining. Thanks, in advance.
IS this at worst a backhanded compliment and at best something to put on your resume ? I am debating whether or not to join and pay membership fee for it. Also how big actually is an honor society invitation from a two year college? lmao.
Hi, folks! I've been invited to be the Phi Theta Kappa (honors society for 2-year colleges) coordinator for our college. It would mean a course release, which is great since my classes are usually packed at 25 students each in a 5/5 load. It would also mean a paid trip to the annual national convention. I'm interested since I am an online instructor and this would give me a way to interact with potentially great students F2F. I am way since PTK seems like a bit of a scam to get membership $ from students without much in terms of payoff for them. This would be especially true for underrepresented students. What do you guys think of PTK? Any coordinators out there who could share their experience, good or bad? Thank you!
This is not a shitpost
Hello everyone, I received an email this morning (I am a dual enrollment student) saying that I βearned an invitation to become a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society.β They require a βone-time, lifetime $80 membership feeβ so my first assumption is itβs basically a scam. I just want to know if anyone knows anything about them.
Thanks!
Note: Iβm sorry this is on Shitpost Wednesday, I just wanna make sure I can ignore this. :)
Edit: Thanks for the responses. I see that itβs a real group, but is it a useful organization to join?
I just got invited, and apparently, my college offered or is offering to cover membership which will make it entirely free for me. Is there any downside to join if I don't need to pay?
The membership fee is $95 & it'll give me access to the Golden Key International Honor Society, "personalized" LOR, $90 million scholarship opportunities, resources to provide skills that ensure future success, & a few other seemingly useless stuff. All the posts I've seen so far say it's not worth it unless the local chapter is active and I don't think mine is; however, it might look good on college apps?
I am a high school student who also takes community college classes and I was βselectedβ for the Phi Theta Kappa honor society. It says itβs for top 10% of students on campus but I feel like itβs a scam considering Iβm only taking a couple classes a year there. Does anyone know if this is worth it and looks good on college apps for t30s
https://imgur.com/K5imAEQ Here I have drawn out (the red lines) how the vector e_phi changes as theta changes. Is this correct?
If so, can someone help me in understanding as to how the vector d(e_phi) points in the direction of e_theta?
I tried applying this vector subtraction rule https://imgur.com/a/FRNstkP, but when I do this I get that d(e_phi) points in the direction of e_phi, which is not correct.
Iβm not sure if this would be the right subreddit to ask this but Iβm a rising senior currently taking dual enrollment classes at my local community college. I was invited to join Phi Theta Kappa with a 74 dollar membership fee. Would this be beneficial to my college applications ? Or even if itβs not would it still be beneficial for me to join at all?
is it rly worth it?
I have read that some people have earned 500 to a couple thousand for free just for being a member, without even having to fill out scholarships. I would obviously love that but I heard it is only some colleges, so I don't know if I should do it or not.
I got an invitation to join Phi Sigma theta but I haven't been able to find much information about them. All I found was a website from 2009. Should I join? Is it worth it? Can anyone tell me about them?
(PTK is the honor society for community colleges.) Iβm just so fucking proud of myself right now you guys π₯Ί I worked so hard in summer and fall to get and keep my GPA up and it feels like that hard work is actually being recognized. As someone whoβs never had the grades for any sort of recognition, this is a really cool feeling haha π
I just got a membership invitation from them and even their membership form is fishy. Their website looks pretty low quality and it doesnβt seem like they offer any significant benefits.
I'm planning on transferring to ucf from broward college by summer of 2022! And I've been invited to the Phi Theta Kappa membership from my college but I'm not sure if it's really worth the $90? Seems like a hit or miss based of off various answers I've found. What do you guys think? There's some Phi Theta Kappa scholarship for transfers as well, so I'm not sure how that is.
As of now I have 36 credits, by the end of the spring term, I'll have everything but a few electives completed (I was thinking if transferring with that). But perhaps it would be best to have my AA before transferring? :)
Would greatly appreciate your answers, thanks!
I got an invitation through my community college, but I am a prospective transfer student. So I don't know if it worth to become a member with paying $80. Is there any benefits like scholarships or discounts for PTK members in UCI? Thanks!
I just received an invitation to join PTK and the first thing I noticed was the $90 fee. I can pay for it but I'm not sure if it's worth it or not. I'm an international student and currently in my last semester before transferring to a 4-year university in the fall. I did a bit of research and most of the answers were positive but it doesn't hurt to get more opinions. Some of them said you should join before attending college to get the PTK member scholarships but I'm not sure if the college I'm transferring to offer that or not (I emailed a counselor, waiting for their reply). If not, do you think it's still worth joining? I major in Business if that helps
Hi there everybody! I am a high school senior doing a program called Running Start, which means I will graduate from high school in a few months with my AA degree from community college. I am currently a member of Phi Theta Kappa and I have been invited to NSHSS, but I am hesitant to accept because I have done nothing with PTK (and there is a $75 acceptance fee). Is it worth accepting NSHSS/PTK? If so, why?
I got a perfect GPA taking 18 units last semester, and today I received an email inviting me to join this honours society, which Iβd never heard of before. From the email it looks like there are a lot of scholarship opportunities with little commitment, but since Iβm not familiar with the program, I figured I should turn to other people for advice.
Is joining an honours society worth it?
Hi everyone. Iβm a running start student taking classes at my local community college, and UW is one of the colleges Iβm considering to apply for. Recently, I got an invitation to join Phi Theta Kappa. The only thing is that you have to pay a one time fee of 75 dollars. Although, they mention how youβd have a lot of scholarships opportunities once you join. Has anyone whose gone to a community college have experience with this honor society, and would it even help my application at all since Iβm not actually going to transfer (normal apps process since Iβm coming out of high school)? It doesnβt look like UW has any scholarships for PTK members, but I could be wrong.
