The generator is an inverter so its smart and i assume kills the power once it exceeds the starting watts 2300w... How can i limit the surge current / start up current. Thanks. Is there a device that works.

As the title says, this specific motor that is attached to a printing press has trouble starting. It needs a little "push" to get it to run. It can take multiple attempts to get it to start, as you have to correctly time pressing the RUN button with the spinning of the pulley. Otherwise, it attempts to spin but stalls. When you get it going, it runs like before - no problems at all. The press is supplied with single phase 230 V AC.
Directly behind the motor, is a National brand Inverter Model DV-505. I tried looking for a start capacitor but couldn't find one. There are 2 transformers in the vicinity of the motor, could those be used to start it?
Finally, I was not able to check the resistance of the motor's windings due to limited access, I will have to take it off entirely sometime later in the week in order to check it.
Can you help me point me in the right direction as to what part has failed/is failing or what I should check next?
