This is my first bike, so I'm still learning how to troubleshoot. I noticed I wasn't getting anything from the alternator so I opened the primary and saw that the resin had melted and gotten onto the rotor. I couldn't tell if it was due to the rotor rubbing up against it or not. Could definitely be that one of the stator mounting studs is bent. Going to check that tomorrow, but I wanted to see if it could be anything else before I go messing around with that. I have a Podtronics on it, but I don't really know how they're wired or if a short could cause the alternator to be unable to shed excess heat. Any tips are appreciated!

I was able to figure out the issue, and happily itβs not my head gasket, or other engine component. I literally just bought this bike, looked super clean on my inspection. Seller must have cleaned the hell out of the stator wire and local style casings before the showing. Super annoyed by that, I wouldnβt have minded the repair, itβs only time consuming.
Any other vrod owners experience the infamous stator oil leak? Anything I should be aware of when tackling this issue?
I was to have my vintage tractor running but i don't have a new stator and i can reuse the old one as i took it apart with plans to rebuild it but i don't know how to reassemble it. can i run a wire from the battery to the part of the coil that would be connected to the stator?
Just discovered my back brake light has been jammed on the whole time, Iβve now fixed this - any chance this is what was burning my stators??
Got a 2000 E-Model that needs a new stator. I was wondering if the stators from other models (S, SM) would work fine and plug play? Thanks

Hello! My CB650 is having starting issues and charging issues, I plan on replacing the stator but I canβt find one for a 1984, only 83 and below or 85 and above for some reason. Even my local parts store couldnβt find anything, Iβd like to get something new and it doesnβt need to be OEM, but if I have to go used Iβm okay with that. Where can I look? Can I use a stator from an β83? Thanks in advance!
All non oem but reputable brand (electrex) any ideas?
So my fuel leak is fixed and new RMStator stator is in place (after some trimming). I seem to be lucky as i can clearly see 2 magnets moving on the old stator. Questions is, anyone know of any good epoxy to fix them in place and have the stator as a replacement? Must be a good metal to metal and high temp resistant epoxy. PS: I know i can search for thia online but id like to know if someone here had success with a particular epoxy and which one.
