A list of puns related to "Hydrochlorothiazide"
Had my first Primary Doctor visit since the hypertension diagnosis. Been on Amlodipine 5mg daily for about 5 or 6 weeks now. Haven't felt any side effects (yet). Got me down to about 120 to 139 / 85 to 95. So I was still high, but I assume it is because I just started.
I had a really high reading in the doctor's office. 170/90 something. I brought my home monitor and it said similar. I was 120s/80s before the visit and 120s/80s 4 hours after the visit (when I got home). Doc took a second reading at the end of the visit because I said "maybe I was anxious before?" It was lower but in the 160s, so still higher than I've been in a month.
Added hydrochlorothiazide (diuretic) 12.5mg daily. I'm a bit worried after reading others compain about side effects when I searched that term here and r/bloodpressure . I'm doing some major studying and the thought of becoming a zombie would stress me out knowing it would compromise my studies.
I also read it might lower Potassium. My reading was already slightly lower than the normal range. Doc did give a 2 week prescription of Potassium CL ER 10 MEQ. And I bought a juicer right after the doc visit so I can make high potassium juices.
Anybody have similar circumstances (Amlo + Hydro w/ low potassium lab results).
I also have an inexpensive scale and one of the readings it gives back is body water % and it tells me I am low, not high. Hence, the opposite of retaining water?
But it is a low dollar weight scale from Amazon and I only take the body weight reading as a truly accurate reading. I take notice of the others, but don't consider them medically accurate because I assume it is doing a makeshift # (formula) as opposed to a full on medical evaluation #.
I have to set up a blood lab work test in 30 days and then see the doctor again after those 30 days (had labs done about 30 days earlier in the ER, so the doc used those as the baseline / starting to compare against.)
Please share your thoughts on 1) Hydrochlorothiazide and 2) Potassium Pills based off personal experience.
So yesterday was my first HCTZ med. I asked the Pharmacist the best time to take it. They told me the morning, but definitely not before bed time as it causes increased urination so I'd be up all night peeing.
But I also take the following:
My understanding is HCTZ is all about peeing to remove water/fluids. And with those fluids, sodium and the like.
But I assume it is like a body fluid cleanse. So I wondering if I am just peeing out my Amlodipine, other pills, and other vitamins and nutrients I get from food. So peeing out not just the bad (sodium, etc) but also the good.
And if that is the case, is it invalidating my Amlo (my main worry). My Amlo says take in the morning (one container does, other has no time marked).
Has anybody had different advice. Such as take HCTZ in the morning. Go to work. When you get home in the evening, take all the other pills.
I plan to ask my doctor and pharmacist this in more detail (assuming I can) the next visit, but I'd imagine others have already had common medical advice about when to schedule your HCTZ in with other meds, pills, supplements, diet.
UPDATE: See new post below
I'm planning my first cycle to be:
250 test enanthate per week
10 mg LGD4 ED
10 mg sublingual anadrol as a pre-workout androgen
I'ts for a powerbuilding program. I've been powerlifting for 10 years and I'm a strength coach so my foundation is very solid.
The thing is that I dont want to get all bloated up by LGD's and anadrol's fluid and water retention properties, both because of the harmful effects on the cardiovascular system due to significant increase of blood pressure, and also because of the adverse cosmetic and aesthetic effects ( my face looks pretty lean and I like them that way ).
I was wondering if introducing something like a low dose of hydrochlorothiazide can help prevent the unwanted side effects I mentioned earlier.
Has anyone tried this combination before? There's even a medication calld Cozaar wich combines losartan and hydrochlorothiazide , thus making them work synergistically, I thought about getting that one since I'm already planning on using an ARB so combining both looks favourable.
So I was just looking for maybe a bit of insight or if anyone else has also had my same experience. I (34, f)was started on 25mg of Hydrochlorothiazide five days ago. Since then, my appetite has become almost nonexistent. Iβve had a little bit of nausea, but thats not abnormal me, I have IBS and bad anxiety. But the weird thing for me is that I am generally crazed for sugar and sweets (my pantry is never without Oreos). I would much rather eat sweets over savory food any day. But now all the sudden I am CRAVING savory, salty, spicy, zesty foods. Zero interest in my beloved Oreos. I will eat a little bit and feel extremely full and uncomfortable, then a few hours later will be STARVING like I havenβt eaten in days.
Iβm not complaining (I consumed way too much sugar beforehand) butβ¦..anyone else experience this?
I've been on hydrochlorothiazide for nearly 10 years. i was able to lose some weight this year to get my Type 2 diabetes in good control and lower my insulin dependency, so my doctor took me off of hydrochlorothiazide 2 months ago. not sure why. problem is, now i have bad blood pressure issues, bigtime. constant palpitations and bp that used the be in the 120's/80's is now 150-160's over 90's. at the same time i was taken off the water pill, i also had my Pfizer shot. i dont know if my hypertension is temporarily due to the covid shot or because of being taken off of hydrochlorothiazide. its been over a month since my vaccination. had to go see a cardiologist, because there were days i was hitting 200/100 with 100+ heart rate when sitting on the couch. i have crazy dehydration these days too and lots of jitters. i was wondering if there's a withdrawal period of going cold turkey on the hydrochlorothiazide. my other bp pills are lisinopril. and also amlodopine, which was just doubled to 10mg per day. my cholesterol is great and so are my triglycerides.
I have been having terrible pain in my ankles and achilles tendon area. My feet get stiff after sitting or laying for even just a small amount of time. Once I get up and start walking around for a little bit, my feet will feel ok. But as soon as I sit down for just a few minutes, it starts again. I like to walk daily and now it's getting difficult. It's causing me to limp depending on the pain level. I've bought different shoes thinking that I didn't have enough shoe support but that's not helping either. I went to my Doctor last week and she said since my ankles/achilles tendon does not hurt when she touches them that it's probably due to the Losartan-hctz. She told me to take 400-500 mg of magnesium a day to help. She asked about my water intake and I told her I easily drink at least 64 ounces a day. I've taken the magnesium for a few days and it's not helping so far. Has anyone else had this problem with this medicine? I'm in excruciating pain and would hate to think this medicine is the cause. I'm trying so hard to walk and lose weight to come off of it but the pain is killing me and I'm afraid I'm damaging my tendons.
Hi,
Can not seem to find any information on Sartans and HCTZ interactions with basically any drug classes.
Does anyone of you guys take this medication for high blood pressure and use RCs occacionaly?
I went down a rabbit hole of trying to find any reddit post with the following keywords (the drugs mentioned are not in question of my usage its usually easiest to write the most generic drug instead of an rc to find results):
Telmisartan + cocainetelmisartan + adderalTelmisartan + ephedrinetelmisartan + amphetaminetelmisartan + methamphetamine
Expanded these 5 searches with the following: reddit ; interactions ; contraindications ; dangerAlso changed Telmisartan for losartan, and HCTZ
Zero information besides that one site that lists possible drug interactions where I combined adderall and telmisartan and it told me, nothing found in literature.
Looking for personal experience from you guys then
My case: healthy with normal resting blood presure.
Question1: stim comedowns up my bp which results in anxiety and not feeeling well
Question2: taking sartans before stim use - will they clash or equilibrium?
I have counter arguments
My logic 1: Its antyhypertensives - might actually have an even better high and dont have to drink alcohol
My logic2: Some shit about first generation beta blockers being the worst thing you can do with stims, but newer beta blockers get prescribed to people with adhd (I know sartans are angiotensin receptor 2 blockers, this is just an example of bad interaction of stimulants and aht)
Does anyone have first hand experience?
Because I took 15 mg telmisartan after a party and fuck its nice
Hi.
Apologies for the inconvenience caused but I think I might have taken my BP meds last night after a party and heavy drinking and according to my memory I would normally avoid mixing alcohol and BP meds but now I think that I might have and with the hangover and uneasiness I thought I should take my meds this morning just in case if I didnβt already. Now Iβm panicking if this is going to be a problem or will it regularise as the day goes post meals and everything? Iβm 30 years old. 5β9β and 83 kgs(working on it) with a medium activity lifestyle. Please advice. Thank you.
I have a phone consultation with my primary tomorrow. But in the mean time would like some insight. My pharmacist said they could reduce my sodium levels to dangerously low levels. Anyone here think that these are too risky to take together?
I had high blood pressure the past few times I went to the DR, usually, 140/90 since didn't want to diagnose me with high blood pressure but I'm pretty sure that's elevated if normal is 120/80. Is anyone else taking this medication and did it help lower your blood pressure? I'm nervous it's not helping me but I won't find out until my next follow up visit.
edit My physician had to change my medication to amlodipine the hydrochlorothiazide was not working. She is convinced this one will work. Lol letβs hope so.
