This got quietly reissued last month on standard black vinyl but the FYE exclusive is on the way and due out Aug 23, limited to 1,000 copies and pressed on silver vinyl.
My friend group and I have recently discovered the band a couple years ago and we love their early albums... Cracked Rear View (1994), and Fairweather Johnson (1996). We're not ashamed of it and honestly can't understand why everyone started to hate them after the mid 90s, they became a bit like Nickelback before Nickelback was a thing. Darius Tucker has a great voice and the rest of band have a warm country/rock mix of musical style. I always get some sort of nostalgia when I listen to the band... I guess they just remind me of the summertime or something. The lyrics, especially in Cracked Rear View, are really overlooked on some of the songs and speak on rather serious topics, such as in "Drowning", and my personal favorite from the band, "Not Even the Trees".
Now I wouldn't say they're my favorite band, but they're up there somewhere and I just feel that they got way too much hate for no reason. Yeah, perhaps Darius's voice is similar to the testosterone-filled lows of Eddie Vedder, but honestly being a massive Pearl Jam fan too, I can't say that he is copying Vedder in the slightest. He has his own southern style and twang, and I'd look to Scott Stapp of Creed if you want someone trying to copy Eddie's voice.
We got some tickets to see them live this summer with their reunion tour and we can't wait!
