A list of puns related to "Grunge"
So I want to run several silly one off adventures where the players are all grungs, tiny evil frog people.
Does anyone have any stupid frog, grung, or amphibian puns that I can use as adventure titles?
I listen to mostly late 90s/early 2000s rock I found some really good grunge songs and would like band/song recommendations The songs I recently liked:
Nirvana-Blew, Floyd The Barber, Negative Creep, Scoff, Downer, Heart Shaped Box, Milk It, Very Ape Alice In Chains- We Die Young, Sunshine, Put You Down, (Bout You), Them Bones, Dam The River, Rain When I Die, Would?
Iβll be Checking out STP and soundgarden next!
Thank you guys for the awesome recommendations
I prefer fast paced songs, slow songs arenβt really for me
3-4 minuet songs
Album length 30-40 minuets
Over 120 bpm
Honestly I want a rock revival. I miss the late 00's and early 2010's pop rock sound. It's gaining traction now but I don't know how long that will last. Thoughts?
Hello all, new to the subreddit!
I'm a vocalist and guitarist looking to start an online grunge band, similar to Nirvana, Nill, Nine Black Alps, etc. Comment or PM if interested!
Update: we found a drummer so far!!
One of my friends just shared this 4 minute video on Facebook where this guy (born in 91) was totally acting out everything about how day to day life was, lots of Blockbuster and old school internet and CD walkmen, don't get me wrong all that stuff is dope too. But it just sums up how annoying it is that the grunge era 1991-96 so often gets left out.
I understand if this guy is probably hazy on it since he was really little and probably only connects with 97-99 but it's not just him, I've seen this a lot. 90s nostalgia that only focuses on the mainstream kid friendly stuff from 1998 or 99 or the very early 00s holdovers.
So much from the earlier 90s was so groundbreaking that it was prevalent for years afterwards so I don't get why it's left out all the time. I was a tomboy listening to Nirvana and Chili Peppers and early Green Day when I was 8-12 and even though I thought BSB and NSYNC were hot (obviously Justin lol) I thought the music was lame. I used to get literally offended if someone thought I was a Britney Spears fan when I was 12.
People can like or not like what they want, but like don't be calling it 90s nostalgia, call it LATE 90s or Y2K era, because just saying 90s makes me think you're gonna give a shit about 94 or something.
Personally, my vote is Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden & STP (though Pearl Jam probably deserves it more, but I don't like their music as much). What are yours?
Idea? Movement? Scene? Sound? Iβm curious to here everyoneβs opinion on this topic. Grunge was a mixture of all the things for me. Itβs came in the 90βs as an explosive sound with no boundaries on writing! Everyone dressed a certain way and had a certain mindset. One of the only Genreβs not shy to talk on edgy controversial topics. Music wasnβt never meant for the radio to begin with but people would hear the song and attach their own meaning. Bands like Seether, Crossfade, Puddle of Mud all sound ALOT like grunge but what are they missing?....
THE EDGE THE ANGST
The feeling you get when you become disassociated with reality. The feeling you get when something is wrong to talk about but it has to be said. Any further explanations?
I love crocheting but feel meh on most of the clothing patterns Iβve found. I donβt like things with holes in the weave (cold!), and I wear alternative/grunge/punk clothing (flannels, androgynous, lots of black and grey).
Yβall have any pattern/website/blogs/Ravelry recommendations? Everything Iβve found is so feminine and colorful, I want something a grumpy 90s rockstar would wear
Itβs always seemed odd to me that following Kurt Cobainβs death that the super talented bands with tons of underground credibility that were pushing the sound of grunge forward in the same way post punk bands pushed punk forward werenβt the bands that took off in 94-96. Instead the labels kind of just took it from there and you started seeing bands like Bush and Silverchair highly promoted and later Matchbox 20 and Third Eye Blind.
Honestly I think it was a matter of having an easy to control product.
If you love grunge and wonder what it sounds like when the sound has been pushed forward in a way similar to how post punk pushed punk forward I recommend:
Sunny Day Real Estate- Diary 1994
Truly - Fast Stories...from Kid Coma 1995
Pond - The Practice Of Joy Before Death 1995
Failure - Fantastic Planet 1996
There are a bunch of others but these bands kind of nail what Iβm talking about. 3 outta 4 were on Sub Pop at some point. They take aspects of grunge and the mentality but theyβre also clearly pushing the music into new territory.
