I just found out that there was an actor named George Maharis who starred in Route 66. From his imdb trivia:
> "George Maharis Arrested in Men's Room", Gay Scene, December 1974: "Famous Hollywood actor George Maharis was arrested November 21 and charged with committing a sex act with a hairdresser in the men's room of a gas station in Los Angeles... He was booked on a sex perversion charge along with Perfecto Telles, 33, the hairdresser, and released on $500 bail, according to police.".
So while trying to get away from the name George Michael, or his father's suggestion they start calling him Boy George, he stumbles into the name George Maharis. At least it was consensual.
So I was unaware that the main actor for Route 66 had the same name. Alf made a reference to the show and said the name.
After some research discovered the actor and a male hairstylist named Perfecto Telles were arrested for having sex in a gas station restroom.
I really I feel I missed out without that reference. Such bad luck for GMB.

This has most likely been asked before and I don't even know if we're allowed to ask this kind of stuff on this subreddit but I was just rewatching season 4 and there was this little tidbit in the George-Michael episode 'It Gets Better' (episode 13).
George-Michael takes a photo of a teen star with his phone which coincides with electrical surges and explosions and all that jazz we know about. Narration says "those that saw him, [it] seemed like a genius act of cyber sabotage". Mort is one of these people it seems in the following scene where he tells Rebel about what Maharis did and how he's an "internet genius".
But in the shot of the "genius act", Mort is seen being surprised with Tony Wonder. He doesn't even seem near to where George-Michael was...

I apologize for not posting the thread in April. I was unwell and also feeling very downhearted. So I did not feel like writing anything online.
My last two weeks went well. Can't complain much.
Ministry of Fear (1944, Fritz Lang)
Fritz Lang directs an adaptation by Seton I. Miller from the novel by Graham Greene. Lang was reportedly not pleased with the changes Miller made to Greene's story but could not do anything about it since Miller was also the producer. But in my view, Miller did good by removing all the philosophical and existential rambling from Greene's prose and concentrated only on presenting an efficient thriller. And Lang's mastery, even though far from its peak, still asserts itself in creating a number of skillfully shot and edited mysterious sequences.
Unfortunately, even changes made by Miller cannot overcome the excessive silliness of Greene's central story, what with microfilms hidden inside cakes which are then auctioned off at public fetes and characters who conveniently commit suicide. Ray Milland's performance is good but his contribution is offset by Marjorie Reynolds's poor acting.

Boomerang! (1947, Elia Kazan)
A decent investigative/courtroom drama elevated by nifty direction by Elia Kazan and solid performances by Dana Andrews and Arthur Kennedy. I think I am beginning to warm to Dana Andrews. When I watched him in Laura I found him to be wooden but having seen him in Ball of Fire and now this, I have begun to think that he wasn't all that wooden, at least not in every role.

Mum always loved to wear sarongs (fabric wraps that go around the torso and drape downward a bit like a long skirt would), so my uncle suggested that she wear a sarong in there.
The funeral director looked a bit confused, as did some of our family members, to which my uncle added:
"What's sarong with that?"
I started laughing like an idiot. He was proud of it too. The funeral director was rather shocked. We assured her, and our more proper relatives, that Mum would've absolutely loved the joke (which is very true).
His delivery was perfect. I'll never forget the risk he took. We sometimes recall the moment as a way help cushion the blows of the grieving process.

True story; it even happened last night. My 5-year-old son walks up behind me and out of the blue says, "hey."
