A list of puns related to "Deathwatch"
Iβm working on a Deathwatch list that has been going well so far against friends running CSM, Admech and Craftworlds but Iβm yet to play the current hotness Drukhari and want to know if there are any tips I should be aware of, or possible changes that should be made before putting it in a local tourney.
Current list is below:

Every unit is combat squaded. Indomitor in the Teleportarium. Watch Master and Libby buff the Contemptors. Spectrus zone out my deployment. Boltgun Vets work on Objectives behind LC Vets who are either a forward threat or countercharge.
I imagine for Drukhari I use the Contemptors to focus down key Raiders then use Vets to kill the contents (ideally at range). Iβm con
... keep reading on reddit β‘The title, basically. It'll be a level 6 Deathwatch campaign, and he is hoping to play as a Grey Knight. Can I make him a balanced character that fits in well with the game, gameplay-wise? I would greatly appreciate any advice!
So I've been looking at ultramarine list ideas and everytime I looked at what I'd wrote down I figured I was actually coming up with a deathwatch list of models so I've switched it around and made kill teams instead.
I haven't bought this but I do own the indomitus box and 10 intercessors from dark imperium, non of these are put together yet.
So the list I'm at is
Primaris Chaplain on bike beacon of angelos Primaris captain shield of aegis
Fortis kill team 5 intercessors 5 out riders Fortis kill team 5 Intercessors 5 outriders Fortis kill team 5 intercessors 5 helblasters Indomitor kill team 5 heavy intercessors 3 eradicators 2 plasma inceptors Spector kill team 5 infiltrators
6 bladeguard veterans Judicar
So that's it.
Idea being that I have no real targets for anti tank weapons. Combat squad the Indomitor kill team and the kills teams with outriders. These are then thrown at the enemy while the other half of the squads hold the deployment to get me while we stand we fight.
10 outriders up the board with Chaplain. Chaplain gives them 5++ invun with singing. Then as soon as he can he teleported the blade guard up to him as well.
Eradicators deepstrike in with the 2 plasma guys to hit any enemy tank target I can get.
Hellblasters squad to to stay with captain and infiltrators along with the rest of the teams to give them 5++ and keep enemies out of my deployment.
There are no specialities on the kill teams so in order to have them specials I'd remove the judicar.
Does this look viable as a list? Any advice. I have thought of taking redemptors. However if they are the only vehicles then they are going to be hit with any antitank the enemy has.
I'm not sure how 3 redemptors is supposed to work and if they are given plasma then d6 shots is just to swingy.
I feel I'm lacking antitank maybe. But you don't get much bodies for your points in death watch.
I see people suggesting apothecarys but for the points I can get more men from the start and assume he would only be bringing back as 100points worth of guys in the first place.
I also see people recommending aggressors but don't see what they add
Am I missing something obvious, I've kept to primaris for the reason that mini marines are on there way out the game eventually.
I've had a look on youtube but I have seen anyone playing deathwatch since the codex came out that has a list that looks serious.
Thank you for reading. Any advice you'd be great.
I know the title seems like an exaggeration, but I've never seen a youtuber with logical kill team compositions, good choices in HQs (goddamn artemis EVERY TIME,) and don't get me started on the corvus blackstars... every game they bring 2. Is there a reason for this??? They can't ALL be totally new. I just don't get it.
Edit for some clarity: My problem isn't that people enjoy non-meta lists. My problem is that I see people who have really negative and INNACURATE ideas about us that come solely from these videos, and it annoys me how many people are being put off by this nonsense. If my impression of us was made by those videos I sure as hell would have been.
Apologies if this has been asked before, I didn't see anything on an initial search. I'm playing in a Deathwatch game as a Techmarine amd have encountered a curious absence in the core rulebook. The book refers to mechadendrites at different points, from fluff to the different talemt groups for varieties of mechadendrites. However, I am only able to find stats and Requisition for the servo arm that Techmarines come with. Am I looking something over? I looked in other books such as Rites of Battle and First Founding to no avail. It seems like a curious absence considering how much mechadendrites are utilized in depictions of Tech priests and Techmarines. Thanks in advance.
Finally hunted down a local Harlequins player. I cannot attest to how competitive his list was as I knew squat about the faction, but Iβm glad I got the experience against them before the big tournament. Seems Aeldari are the faction to beat these days.
When I asked him to play his harlequins against me, I got the typical eye roll of being a DW player and the guy asks me if I am βsureβ since he has never lost to marines before, especially not tier 4 onesπ
Here is the battle report, 14 pics and just two turns
Honestly, these guys are really squishy. Too much depends on the shadowseer. How do they play the secondaries? Getting out of the bike to raise 3 banners is hard as youβll expose your super expensive troops. Doing engage? That requires you to deliver a clown car full of points to me every turn. And those fusion pistols are just not reliable when facing transhuman/5++. Their melee isnβt anything to write home about either and their foot speed still isnβt THAT fast.
Shadowseer doesnβt want to get up close. But... fusion pistols all want to get within 6β? This seems really hard to maintain as a bubble. In the end, it wasnβt as scary as imagined, but again, may not be what a meta list actually looks like. I hear frozen stars are the main stay, not these soaring whatchamacallit.
NEW LIST
This is my list 2.0 (go to bottom to see harlies and my list). Iβve made some major changes (to me anyways).
contemptor has replaced the redemptor Dreadnought. It has insane long range power and the difference in base size is massive for hiding. And manoeuvrability.
The extra points have gone into a SECOND servitor squad. Servitors are so good... Sooooo goooood...
librarian has traded in chief status for a jump pack. Too many games where I could not keep up while staying out of danger. Also, itβs been critically important to get out of deny range. This was extremely useful compared to rare uses of a third spell.
hellblasters have traded in the Aquila specialism for the Malleus specialism. Crazy strong... punched a venom to death with reroll all wounds on my fists.
Iβve given up exhortation of rage for recitation of focus. I am a god at rolling 2s.

... keep reading on reddit β‘So I put a list up last week for deathwatch and after a a bit more thinking I've revised it. An issue the list originally had was that the outriders were the target with the most wounds so the opponent would probably fire any antitank they had at the outriders. The issue with this is we are taking the while we stand we fight secondary and these 2 units would be part of that. So in comes the distraction carnifex of 3 redemptor dreadnought bubble. These 3 redemptors are less to do with are objectives and more to do with keeping the opponent occupied and not killing are scoring units.
So heres the list:
I've generally seen a kill team deployed here and there, but the idea of an entire company or an entire watch fortress deployed for something sounds strange to me. I don't have any of the Deathwatch codices, is that something that happens? Do they ever mobilize the way someone with a full Deathwatch army would run on a tabletop?
From the Codex:
>The Endymine Cordat are a Xenos species that made attempts to coexist with the Imperium.
>
>To do this, they tentatively offered the Imperium technology seen to be anathema to Daemons. In response, the Deathwatch was unleashed and the forces of three entire Watch Fortresses invaded the worlds held by the Endymine Cordat. In the end, their civilization was shattered and the Endymine Cordat's primary world was destroyed by Exterminatus. The surviving Endymine Cordat, that lived on the few worlds they still held, later devolved into a feral society and their remaining gene pools were barely large enough to stave off their extinction.
So...yeah. By and large the Imperium doesn't do diplomacy with xenos. Not unless it's absolutely necessary and certainly not if the xenos have something they might want. Big mistake on the part of the Endymine Cordat to tell the Imperium they had anti-warp technology. After all, why bargain for such things with xenos filth when you can simply take them instead? I'm sure a lot of xenos have suffered the fate of the Endymines over the millennia. And those that didn't, those xenos races that are not inherently malevolent and warlike and have somehow managed to survive thus far, are probably doing everything they can to keep the Imperium from noticing they exist.
Noob here, but I got a start collecting Deathwatch box a while ago and a kill team box because I thought the miniatures looked cool.
Long story short, what's the most efficient way to equip these guys in 9th edition? Are infernus bolters and frag cannons worthwhile? Or are they generally outperformed by primaris troops like eradicators (who can count as troops in Deathwatch anyway)?
Thanks!
skip to the bottom for my list Very long and in depth ctrl + f to skip to categories: SECONDARIES:, CHARACTERS:, KILLTEAMS:, REST OF THE ARMY:, STRATEGEMS:, GENERAL STRATEGY:
Seems like DW hasnβt placed high since their release and many people are still figuring out the codex these days. Itβs sad no big names have picked up our codex but from looking at the actual lists out there, it feels more like people donβt want to build new DW armies.
Whatever the reason, if you want to win with deathwatch, itβs actually not that hard.
Currently we are doing a local city wide league and I am sitting at the top of the ladder with a huge target on my back. Itβs not to say Iβm an amazing player but DW is just STRONG AS HELL (also tough as hell).
We play in WTC terrain layouts so this is what my list has been geared towards. While anyone can change their list for the next game, my deathwatch list has not changed for more than 15 games now and so far has only lost 1 game due to not knowing some of my enemies rules.
There is a range of players but Iβve been chasing games against super meta lists (DG, dark angels, RG, Sisters, slaanesh daemons, daemons, white scars, blood angels, space wolves).
One disclaimer though, Iβve proxied heavy intercessors since the league began. Did very well without them before but with them, the game has been so much easier on the DW side. Please go buy some now.
SECONDARIES:
You need to build a list that can secure at least 2 secondaries and punish or shut down most of the common ones (no thanks, relentless assault and oath of moment!)
There is one secondary we are definitely 100% building for here and that is WHILE WE STAND WE FIGHT. 50% of my games have been 100 point wins and this is the way to score super high. The FAQ was a huge boost to deathwatch while nerfing all other marines.
This list also leaves domination available and easy for many maps, and can raise banners, screen out deploy scramblers, perform long vigil in many matches, and can expect to table many opponents to score assassinate.
One of the most important things here is it makes enemy secondaries very hard. I can remove oath of moment units at range quite easily as well as engage models. Deploy scramblers is super hard for the enemy. Assassinate doesnβt work much since all your characters donβt fight.
CHARACTERS: The must take relics and warlord traits
Always start with 7CP. Every warlord trait and relic is gold for DW.
Warlord: Primaris Bike Cha

... keep reading on reddit β‘I play Deathwatch, and fittingly with the fluff, the faction is well equipped to destroy things like Raiders and armies that spam one data sheet or battlefield role.
Deathwatch: Xenos Hunters Each time a model with this tactic makes a melee attack against a TYRANIDS, AELDARI, ORK, NECRONS, or TβAU EMPIRE unit, re-roll a hit roll of 1.
After both sides have finished deploying their armies, select one Battlefield Role. Until the end of the battle, each time a model with this tactic makes an attack against an enemy unit with that Battlefield Role, re-roll a wound roll of 1.
DW have access to Prognosticating Volley (1CP) that lets a unit ignore Aeldari to hit modifiers during ranged attacks until the end of that phase.
Relics such as the Tomb of Ectoclades give a one turn aura to reroll all wounds against one datasheet, while the Vhorkan-Pattern Auspicator have a +1 aura against 'Fly' units.
After destroying the Raider you can give 'Death to the Alien' (1CP), to add 1 to the attack characteristic of each model in a unit.
The Xenopurge Psychic disciple has some great powers like Premorphic Resonance and Neural Void to help in the fight phase where the Drukhari are powerful.
While Deathwatch is a rare sight at the top tables of any tournament, at least we have some tools to help us out when the big bad Dark Elves show up.
Personally, I've done well using Relic Contemptors with Volkites, babysat by a Watchmaster with Tomb of the Ectoclades and Nowhere to Hide they can do alot of damage to squishy Eldar and even their Transports.
Iβve decided to join your wonderful bunch with my second 40k army. I have previously played mono word bearers but really enjoyed trying death watch in Kill team. This is how Iβd like my list. What are your thoughts?
