I stopped her halfway, "No, the confetti's going too far. That's just creating a huge mess."
She looks like she was prepared for it, "That's why I set down place mats!"
Oh, those little squares that all the confetti is sprinkled around? Like, maybe if she had set down a giant tablecloth for easy wrapping I wouldn't have made a stink, but this was going too far.
I set the it straight right off the bat, "Look, any items beyond what we serve in the restaurant here is your responsibility to clean up."
She looked annoyed, but accepted. And guess who immediately stopped putting any more effort into making the table more festive?
I peered into the box of contents she had, and there were two vials of glitter. May God have mercy on her soul if she was even considering it.
Did not know she wasn't vegan. She sat there talking to nobody while we all enjoyed the vegan food and the joy of being in our safe space for animals and people. It was fucking magical. After she left someone said she wasn't vegan and that's why she left early. Seems like people who bully and abuse animals are cowards too when it comes to being the minority. Not one bacon joke, not one anti-vegan remark. Not one defense of animal abuse at the animal sanctuary on Christmas? What a shock! That was the best Christmas gift ever. Just sharing. How did yours go?

How am I supposed to eat this??
Update: the legs are not fully cooked. He has taken the heat gun to them. The skin has been deemed too tough to cut through
Update 2: we did talk him into putting it back in the oven
Itβs a figure of speechββthe early bird gets the worm.β Or, at least thatβs what Iβd thought. Another way of saying βfirst come, first serve.β But, had I not awoken early one morning, when the sun had only barely peeked above the horizon, I would not have known the truth about the one called βThe Early Bird.β
Coffee was brewing while I stood outside in an old pair of gym shorts and a raggedy 2010 Winter Olympics shirt. If youβre wondering, Iβm not an Olympianβyouβd know this if you saw me. I only own the shirt.
βFor the love of God, Gitmo, go potty.β
My wife (who was out of town visiting her sister at the time) and I had adopted the little Shih Tzu a couple of years prior. We felt that his flat, furry face bared a striking resemblance to the character, Gitmo, from the film Gremlins. But, upon a rewatch of the film a year later, we discovered that the characterβs name is actually Gizmo, while Gitmo, we came to learn, is another name for the controversial military prison, Guantanamo Bay.
As I stood out in the cold, in nothing more than shorts and a t-shirt, waiting for Gitmo to find a suitable patch of grass to piss on, I realized that him sharing a name with a facility known for torture is, in a way, appropriate.
βFuck it,β I said and tugged Gitmo back toward the house. βWeβll try again later.β
Then, right as I placed my hand on the door, a loud screech echoed from a distance. When I spun around, I saw nothing but empty land dampened beneath the morning dew.
Having shrugged it off and turned back around, I was again interrupted by a piercing screech.
βThe fuck is that?β I muttered, stepping from the house and back into the yard, Gitmo in tow.
The lot I live on is several acres, and at the far end are the woods, which is where the sound was coming from. Silently, I stood waiting for another noise or something to fly from the trees.
To my left, about fifty yards out was a murder of crows. Thatβs what a group of crows is called, in case you didnβt know. But it was a bit foggy out, so it couldβve been a rape of ravens. Regardless, they appeared to be picking at the ground in search of breakfast.
A moment passed, and nothing happened, so once again, Gitmo and I turned back toward the house. Then, as if on cue, the screech returned, but this time, a sound akin to a hefty flag whipping in the wind accompanied it. What I saw when I turned around was the biggest, meanest, most frightening-looking crow Iβd ever seen, soaring through the sky towards th

>...since Bob Myers signed Payton II to a rest-of-season contract last May, the 2020-21 campaign counts for Payton IIβs tenure with the Warriors and the team will have early Bird rights on him rather than the more limited non-Bird. > > What does this mean for the Warriors? > > Quite a lot. Non-Bird rights are deliberately extremely limited so teams cannot game the system by signing players to cheap one-year contracts, then giving them significant raises quickly thereafter. They only allow for the player to receive up to a 20 percent raise off of their previous salary or the minimum salary, so the only way the Warriors would have been able to offer Payton II more than that would have been by using the mid-level exception. Since the Warriors will be deep into the tax in 2022-23 (more on that later), they will only have the more modest Taxpayer MLE available with a projected first-year value of $6.235 million. Beyond that, Payton II taking some or all of the Taxpayer MLE would have prevented Myers from using it on someone else, like giving a capable veteran free agent more than his minimum. > > Instead, early Bird rights give the Warriors the ability to pay Payton II up to 105 percent of the leagueβs average salary in the 2021-22 season, roughly $10 million this coming offseason. Whatβs more, early Bird rights are a separate exception so Myers could (at least conceptually) retain Payton II and use some or all of the taxpayer MLE either during the 2022 offseason or even in-season depending on what opportunities present themselves.
To summarize, rather than regular non-Bird rights, limiting the Dubs to signing Payton for 120% of this year's salary, which would be ~$2M/yr, the team has Early Bird rights, or ~$10M/yr. I believe Damion Lee and JTA would also be Early Bird candidates this offseason.
Plus, this also leaves the TP MLE of ~$6.2M/yr available, if the Dubs want to use it to sign a player or re-sign an existing one, like Porter.
Regardless, they're heavy in repeater luxury taxes, so every dollar will incur significant additional dollars, but it's good news that the Dubs have another avenue for retaining guys.
