A list of puns related to "Duchy"
The subject of the duchy rankings is something I found fascinating. Knowing how affected some of them were affected by the culling and everything.
For instance, one thing I found interesting was knowing that Frenbeltag was only two positions below Ehrenfest (15th)... despite the fact the books explicitly say they were one of the most affected duchies by the culling (implying they lost a LOT due to their involvement on the coup). This, to me, says that Frenbeltag used to be ranked much higher than they currently are... which I find very interesting considering how closely connected these duchies have been through history. It leads me to wonder how Ehrenfest, a bottom-of-the-barrel duchy, even managed to form relations with Frenbeltag at their peak (and how high in the rankings they must have been during said peak).
Another thing I found interesting was Sylvester mentioning that if they had gone solely by their grades on the Royal Academy, Ehrenfest would have actually been placed 8th or 9th in the rank. Now, I find this interesting because, at least from our point of view, Ehrenfest should have been excelling absurdly. The entirety of the 1st year class passed every single written class in their first attempt, a feat so absurd that all the other duchies couldn't even believe, implying that it's either never been done or hasn't happened in a while. The other classes all did incredibly well in their grades as well. Yet, somehow, if they were to go by grades only... there would still be 8 or 9 other duchies ahead of them? Just how high are the grades of the other duchies? Or is this a matter of them all having such high grades that a slight difference causes a massive shift? Like Ehrenfest having a 95% average and losing out positions because, say, Ahrenbasch has 95.1%?
Finally, the thing I'm most curious about is... just how high in the rankings will Ehrenfest get by the end of the novel? Yeah, I know this is asking for spoilers, but I've already actively looked for it elsewhere and couldn't find it, so I'd appreciate it if someone could satisfy my curiosity >.>
I'm wanting to build tall in Bohemia, earliest start-- but I need the kingdom of Bohemia, and I'm unsure what duchy is best to take for building tall. I'm thinking of taking the southern duchy, but I'd like some opinions!
Title says it all. I'm looking for recommendations for the best 2 adjacent duchies economic and strategy - wise.
so the duchy rankings are very important, as we all know. and ahrensbach is ranked high, going down on ehrenfest for their own reasons.
what i am interested to know- would ehrenfest ever outrank ahrensbach in some way? i assume the only way to get downranked is by own's fault, and as a developing middle duchy, it would be hard to surpass such a high-tier duchy simply by renocations and trend such as myne's.
I am basically in need of wisdom from the old masters. What are some basic things that i should know or am likely to miss? Some tips on the army and economy would be appreciated. (I converted the Irish petty kingdom in the tutorial to Iconoclasism and I had my neighbor and the HRE come to murder my soldiers.)
I am playing Crusader Kings 3 btw. Any help is appreciated.

I love building tall rather than wide, being able to personally own all of my land or at least most of it is always a big plus. Like starting in Ireland and getting enough stewardship that owning all of ireland can be done without any vassals, and so on. That said, my usual route for building tall without starting as a powerhouse from the beginning is usually starting iceland- take over the place, make the duchy, then take the three isles beneath and make the northern isles duchy. Then take the isle of mann, using the major decision to turn isle of mann into a kingdom title, and ruling across these four small islands(plus iceland) into the late game, taking no further land and just building tall from here on out, with a reserve army to keep people off my back without ever actually employing them unless I get desperate. It works well, and I enjoy it since the start and initial climb can be rough, but I'm curious where other great locations are for building tall. Is there one better than this? I feel like the isle of mann decision is just so strong once you get it done, insta feudal, permanent raiding(as long as you keep your religion from organizing), reserve soldiers, and an amazing capital.
I formed Italy as the Two Sicilies while Emperor of the HRE and it demoted my government to a duchy. Is that supposed to happen? I thought as long as you're Emperor you're locked in at Emperor rank. I'm 450 dev over capacity at the moment because of it and my economy tanked from losing all my Latin cultures being unaccepted.
Spoiler for anime only viewers
>!At the royal academy each duchy has its own cape color, is there a list that keeps track of this? I looked on the wiki and it only really had Klassenberg and Dunklefelgers colors listed. Could someone point me in the right direction!<
The Grand Duchy of Maryland was formed on 16 April, 1787. Maryland and Virginia were loyalist strongholds in the Revolutionary War, and when the war ended later in 1785, the entire south, who was ITTL very loyal, angry. Maryland and the south wanted monarchies, and before a constitutional convention, Maryland, and the southern states began to rebel. The British decided to strike on the United States of New England, and they annexed the remaining areas of The US. Carolina and Georgia requested to become monarchical puppets, or dominions, of Britain, although Virginia and Maryland opted for their own monarchies. The House of Calvert was proclaimed, and Frederick Calvert was declared His Grace, the Count of the County of Maryland. After the War of Southern Secession, Maryland got its claimed land, and the United States were dissolved and partitioned by the UK. In the following years, Maryland began to develop, and the area around the capital of Baltimore began to grow and develop. Although slower than Virginia, Maryland began to grow rich, although keeping with its conservative values. Maryland and Virginia became very good friends and throughout history, Maryland was neutral. Maryland began to experience a major influx of Italian migrants, and Italian culture began to integrate itself into the national culture. All national messages and broadcasts and sent out in both English and Italian. Maryland although, its neutrality, were heavily allied Italy and England and helped them throughout history. Currently, the largest city is Baltimore, although Somerset, Bedford, Breezewood, and Countess Giuliana are closely behind. Currently, the sovereign is Thomas VII, or Thomas the Fair of Bedford. In 1871, the House of Burgesses passed a major act which declared Maryland as a Grand Duchy, and not a County, anymore. Along with Virginia, Maryland is a very rich country, with castles, chateaus, resorts, less regulations, conservative values, and a prosperous economy. Currently, Maryland is of a multi party system, with the major parties being: Conservative (in power), Maryland Evangelical Union (opposition), Traditionalism, Libertarian Party, and the Liberal Party. Maryland, along with Virginia is very isolationist and has conservative and decentralization policies. Maryland and Virginia also uses the metric system, British English, drives on the left, and follows British customs. The capital building is called Cardinalsgrove Palace's style is Perpendicular Gothic Reviva

Interesting, immersive and with so much things to do.
Historical as well, just look at Plantagenets. Barely any succession issues through all this years.
How would the Duke react when he learns that his daughter isn't actually alive? How would the servants react? Would they be angry or not care because they like the mc better?
Iβm the duke of Augsburg. The county of Augsburg was my vassal. Iβm not entirely sure how I lost it, I just noticed itβs no part of my duchy anymore. Maybe I lost it when my father died and I inherited the duchy. The title history of the county shows that it got independent 3 months ago (1 month after my father died) but there was no war of independence.
Anyways, itβs independent now without any liege but I have no casus belli. Why? The county of Augsburg is de jure part of the duchy of Augsburg. Shouldnβt this give me a claim on the county? Do I really have to fabricate a claim for a county that already was my vassal?
Iβm playing a tall game and part of that is only having one duchy building. Iβm sort of torn the more I think about it.
Iβm leaning towards military academy as the extra knights and knight effectiveness can make a big impact on a small army, but Iβm wondering if blacksmith is more useful overall if I have about half my MAA as heavy infantry.
Third time playing and each time I end up with 2 or 3 duchy titles and just before making it to where I can usurp or challenge for a Kingdom title I die and my real splits terribly.
Should I be destroying the extra duchy titles so that my realm remains under my heirs control?
